The Dark Knight Rises How will the opening scene of BB3 be like?

i think one of the most exciting things for me will be since this will probably drop in 2010 or 2011 the technology available will allow them to work wonders in movie.. curious to see what they come up with efx wise...

I would love to see the opening scene show news footage of Batman being shot by SWAT snipers, although narrowly escaping. I'd also like to see Edward Nygma sending him a letter or a message informing Wayne that he's aware of his late night activities; his only reason for not revealing the truth is because he plans to publicly humiliate him.

edit: Actually, I changed my mind:

I'd like to see the chase scene with the Police attempted murder/containment of Batman, his narrow escape, and flight back to one of his many hideouts in Gotham. When he arrives he reads a local newspaper article about a local citizen named Edward Nygma who shot and killed the Joker in a struggle. The man is proclaimed a hero and a ceremony in being held in his honor.

Yes, the technology will be amazing, but hopefully Nolan doesn't make it overshadow the story and characters. I don't think he will.

As for me, I like the Past-Present-Future idea. It is definitely something Nolan would do and would link the three films together in a wider perspective.

Gordon coming home from his speech about Harvey Dent and noticing a green question mark painted on his front door.

well i havent seen this mentioned but what about it starting out with bruce visiting his parents grave. i've always felt it to be an iconic image. and with what the character is going through i can see it giving him the motivation to continue. just a thought..

The memorial for Dent that was shown at the end of The Dark Knight... Then, after Gordon gives his speech, he steps down from the podium, and cops approach Gordon. One says, "Commissioner, we can't find the body..."

And chaos ensues.

A panning shot of Arkham Asylum on a rainy wind-swept night as a armoured van drives through the main gates up to the main entrance. A medium range shot of the dozen or so armed guards waiting for the armoured van to stop, they are visibly nervous, some even smoking cigerettes. The van stops and the armed guards form a circle around the back doors, two of them open them up, at this time all the guards have their MP5s trained on the prisoner. The camera is now at foot level as the person steps out of the vehicle, it then pans back up to show us his back as he's being led into Arkham by the guards. He is being led through the halls and is eventually brought to his cell and thrown in, doors slammed shut behind him. The camera closes in on the small re-inforced window to show pitch blackness inside the cell, a guard walks towards it and peeks in. Then suddenly the occupant shouts "BOOO!!" and the guard jumps back visibly shaken, the camera goes back to the window as a familier face is staring back at the camera and bursts out into a maniacal laughter, its Joker.
If he doesn't play a major role in the third i think something like this would be a great way to show him being taken to Arkham. I have it pictured perfectly in my head, i dunno if it sounds right in words though.

I'd like something very similar to the scene in Mask of the Phantasm:

Start off with a wide shot of a Gotham skyscraper. It's raining heavily. The camera moves in toward the building and we start to see a dark shape midway up. The camera get's closer and we see that it's Batman, perched on a ledge, cape fluttering in the wind and rain, looking at a window across the street. Gordon's office.

Gordon's talking to someone in his office - a heated discussion. from Batman's perspective, we zoom into a close up of the lips (he's reading them).

Cut to shot in the office, and we here Gordon almost yelling about how he's trying as hard as he can to catch the Batman.

Cut back to Batman, and he seems to have heard enough, lowering his head. We hear a chopper and see Batman look up in surprise.

Cut to the police chopper and the search light being turned on.

Cut back to the skyscraper. Ta daa - Batman's... uh... gone.

:meanie:

I'm gonna start with the raining concept

I't raining in Gotham City, You see Gotham Police loading the SWAT Trucks, Choppers, and cop cars.

-Cut to Gordon- Gordon is entering his vehicle and giving orders to his men
-Cut to Batman- Batman is on his Bat-pod and evading a cop. However, more come and try shooting down Batman,
-Cut to SWAT Cars- Law Enforcement is setting up blockades
-Cut to Batman- Batman shoots smoke grenades and breaks though the SWAT's Blockade and then Citizens for Batman members riding in their cars, trucks, and motorcycles try to slow down the Cops and back up Batman
-Cut to Gordon- Gordon manages to fly by the Citizens for Batman members in his car (he is secretly helping Batman)
-Cut to Batman- Batman races down the street towards a rising bridge to escape the Narrows. The Bridge is rising, (Cut to Batman's face and the the rising bridge go back and forth) Batman makes the jump, while Gordon slows his vehicle and watches Batman. Batman crashes.
-Cut to the Police- Police rushes to Batman's body and the paramedics come. They struggle to rip open Batman's suit. Finally they do, they take off his mask. It isn't Batman The Citizens for Batman and Gotham police has been fooled. They read the scars on the fake Batman's body and it says " GOTHAM WILL END JUST HOW THE EARTH BEGAN" and a smiley face with question mark on top of its head ends the sentence. The ambulance blows up killing the police, the Fake Batman and the Paramedics.
-Cut to Gordon- The Bridge lowers and Gordon crosses it. He sees the wreck and sees there is piles of dead burning body in the back of the ambulance.

and thats my first scene

I like this idea taht its set in the future and would be good if yeah we saw Batman weakened and beatened at the begining and flashback to what happened to lead to it.

Daredevil...

I'd have it start with a news report from Mike Engel talking about how the Joker is now in custody in arkham, and bruce wayne moving into his mansion. harvey dent is dead killed by the batman.
It pans out, and you realize its someone watching the t.v.

They show a picture of batman and you just hear... "Who are you?" the guy watching the t.v. says.

cuts into Batman running from cops, after just tying up criminals.

I think a chase scene would be great. Action always pulls me into a movie quickly. Maybe Batman being chased by cops but Batman is trying to chase down some criminals that just robbed a bank or something of that nature.

I would love a police siege of a building or institution, with ramblings that the Batman may be inside.

From the P.O.V of the police Batman slowly makes his escape in a scene which would play out similar to the one at the docks in Batman Begins. Attacking from the shadows, we the viewers experience the fear and excitement that the police would be feeling.

This would lead to a chase sequence, in which Batman escapes on the batpod to Wayne manor..thus establishing the passage through the rebuilding of Bruce's old home.

Continuity and timeline establishment and kick ass excitement.:D

Well...my dream opening would go like along the lines of this...

I would go with Batman breaking up something like a mugging or mob deal or something pretty brutal...and it'll go one of two ways...its an entrapment set up by Gotham PD Batman task force unit...and he escapes, like a big roof top chase would be great...like in the crow or mask of the phantasm.

Or...the thing he breaks up, be it a drug deal or gun deal...whatever it is...the cops move in to nab Batman but Gordon tips him off and tells him to get out of there...and you still get the big chase sequence going rooftop to rooftop...with batman gliding from one building to another...dodging gun fire from two choppers in pursuit...using his grappling gun and swinging...it would be a good opportunity to bust out some new gadget that blows the audience away.

Even though we have no idea what is the story of the 3rd film about, people can think of greats ways to serve as a opening to the film
See, what's funny about these opening scenes is that.. for years I've been wanting to see a small fight between the hero and some lesser known villain. Never got that. So forgot about it. Then TDK cames out and I got something like that.. Alright, it wasn't the opening scene and it wasn't a lesser known villain, but I finally got what I wanted to see. Heh :woot:

So what do you guys think? How will the third film start things off? They say the first 10 minutes of a movie is very critical, and obviously if you compare BB and TDK, it's easy to say which movie had the best first ten minutes (which is really unfair anyway considering BB was a reboot/origin story)

Will we hear the same intro theme used for BB and TDK? Maybe a Bat symbol in a spinning dark cloud almost something that will hallucinate us with the formation of a "?" inside the Bat symbol?

But how will things start? Will we see a new villain right away? Or will the movie begin exactly where TDK left off? We see Batman on the run. Maybe years have gone by since Batman's return (i.e. The Dark Knight Returns). What would you like to see?

Personally, I can picture things starting off with a bang, Batman on the run being chased by the entire Gotham Police force. Wouldn't that be cool to see Bats flying around on the Batpod in a way we never saw in TDK? Whipping around corners full speed, going through building walls, hitting ramps, cutting through steep hills, I could picture the scenery being stormy and Batman blending in with the rain thus Gotham Police losing sight of him due to his dark suit, then Batman finding a safe place to hide, meanwhile Batman returns to a newly constructed Wayne Manor, we finally see the Bat Cave, and inside is a brand new Batmobile (not quite finished but I can see it being finished towards the end of the film) then as Bruce watches the news there are endless reports of a serial killer who leaves codes/riddles for every single victim (Like The Zodiac Killer)

Christopher Nolan thrive's on psychological themes for his movies. In every film, the real cool scenes, the best scenes, are those that are psychological, all driven by the actors, the dialogue, etc. I think it's pretty safe to assume that we will see a side of The Riddler we have never seen before much like The Joker in TDK.

So, Batman Begins showed us HOW he becomes Batman. The Dark Knight continued the story but moved things forward with WHY he is a Dark Knight, the third film should tie up everything and show us why Gotham really NEEDS it's one and only true hero, Batman.

The only problem is, how long till Nolan decides "Okay, let's wrap up this saga with one more story to tell."

I do think the third film will be much, much darker and more psychological than TDK ever was.

Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, and Black Mask are eating at a diner. The bill comes.

Penguin: Okay...who didn't tip?

Riddler/Catwoman: Mask.....!

Penguin: C'mon skull-boy, ante up.

Black Mask: Nah....I don't tip.

Penguin: Why not?

Black Mask: I don't believe in it.

I don't know how they'll start it, I just hope it kicks ass. It will be tough to match TDK's opening scene.

Probably Batman catching a criminal, with some foreshadowing of the main villain, before SWAT Team interrupts Batman and chases after him.

Then we see Batman a few days later in Wayne Manor, where we get a brief reminder of the events of TDK and why Batman is on the run (For the 2 people in the world who haven't seen TDK)

Start it with Gordon and Batman meeting in secret....no bat-signal or the like, they'll have to figure some other sort of communication.

I bet Batman's running from the cops again.

Batman fights the Firefly, who's robbing GothCorp Enterpises, while they are chased by the police and SWAT. Using that to explain all the important points of "TDK": Batman is on the run, accused of homicide, There's an Anti-Batman squad hunting him down, Gordon knows the truth and is trying to help Batman out secretly, Gotham is getting overpopulated by freaks like Firefly, and things are worst than ever.

I know this thread is just for fun, to guess at what it could or should be. But the funny thing, and...WIERD THING is...of all the different ideas, of all the posters here posting multiple millions of ideas...

I bet none of us would come up with what they will use...

And what they will use will be epic

They have to be able to use a villain who is more threatening than Joker...

And at the same time, is just as enjoyable to watch...

it will be hard to do that, but once the villain is chosen, an opening scene might be easier to come up with
