The Dark Knight Rises How Would You Continue the Story from TDKR? (Spoilers)

The only "4th movie" I want is a Catwoman spin-off prequel which would be a semi adaptation of "When in Rome". I don't really want to see Levitt. He was in TDKR enough, whereas I felt Selina Kyle didn't get enough screen time. I would love to see more of Anne playing the role again. She was so delicious.

I agree and like this as well :word: her origins are very vague

I'm glad most people are saying no to a 4th movie, as it lets this group of films wrap things up with a nice bow on its own terms. That was my greatest hope foe these movies, in that they wouldn't leave themselves open to be creatively run into the ground...it's like an athlete finishing at the top of their game.

I'm gonna be the outcast and say YES.

JGL as Nightwing or a new version of Batman (Beyond). Riddler, Penguin, Mr Freeze done in Nolans style. Oldman back as Gordon, with the inclusion of Sarah Essen and Harvey Bullock. Gordons daughter Barbara coming into the fold, grown up. A tiny role from Fox. And subtle references to Bruce once in a while to keep him alive from the likes of Blake/Gordon/Fox.

It seems to be an unpopular choice but what the heck. Before i saw this movie i was One-THOUSAND percent against more movies. I was completely in support of this trilogy not being touched ever again. Once i saw the ending, i was completely invested in Blake. And i find myself thinking up stories of where this new Batman or Nightwing can go and where Gothams going to be after that "war". Just how i felt when i left the theater in Batman Begins wanting to see how the Joker fit.

JGL is more than capable and Gary certainly wouldnt think twice about joining him. Chris or no Chris. The problem is getting JGL to do this or to get Nolans blessing.

not if blake is in it. no

is it the actor?? Im not a fan of JGL but, i enjoyed the character very much

Worst bastardization ever.
lol

exactly, nolans style is perfect and a new director will do "everything differently" we dont need a reboot the ending of DKR is perfectly setup for a "reboot" within this series with all new characters

A spin-off of all the minor characters. :woot::woot:

- no more dead "kawps" guy
- homeless guy with the nice coat
- security guy from Lau's buidling
- subway sandwich eating dudes watching the Tumbler crash
- the two kids playing shoot-em-up in the car
- Gotham monorail conductor guy (Shane Rimmer)

-"Nice ride" guy
-"That's NAWT good!" guy in SWAT car holding Dent

No.

As Christopher Nolan said, every story needs a beginning, middle and end. And we have that. We don't need an epilogue, lol.

No.
I couldn't be more satisfied with what we have. Let's have another director give his vision, now.

its nothing against JGL, just the idea of an ex cop being Batman/Nightwing/Robin doesnt sit well with me. ugh nolan killed it for me with him, thats all. and robin bein his actual name is beyond stupid.

Definitely not.

Next Batman movie should be a reboot. Different director, cast, and vision. I'd like to see the reboot become a trilogy, but I don't think the first needs to be another origin story movie. IMO Begins was flawless enough for a reboot to just have some flashbacks to crime alley or something, not fully fleshing out the origin.

I don't understand the point of a reboot. It takes momentum away. Yes, Bruce Wayne's story is over, but that doesn't mean the Batman legend has to end.

A new story, with John Blake at the core would be much appreciated. I don't need to see Bruce's origins and agony all over again. It'll just be a poor imitation to Nolan's fantastic trilogy.

I want to see how Blake deals with a city rebuilding itself, where someone like Black Mask is on the rise slowly. We see what Blake needs to do to live up to the legend. How he helps the orphanage, works with Gordon etc etc. There's so much to be explored, without retreading broken ground.

Failing that. Go James Bond on the franchise and have different directors doing one off films or stories. No continuous reboots. It's irritating.

NO.

Nolan created this incredible trilogy, and left the franchise on a high note. I think that's the way it should stay. Don't taint this amazing story.

In addition, it's time we see Nolan & Crew move onto new projects, and a new director come in and take a shot with Batman legend.

A Catwoman prequel with Hathaway? Yes.

Good thing that definitely won't happen.

I wouldn't. Blake ties in to Bruce's wish to become an enduring symbol, a legend to inspire good, from Batman Begins.

The only movie I'd want to see is Batman in action in the 8 year gap between TDK and TDKR. But Nolan ruined that by stating Batman did absolutely nothing in those 8 years.... I still think there is a great story to tell with Batman as a hunted fugitive, Gordon covering for him and throwing the police off his trail while at the same time spearheading the hunt for him... and Batman fights off another of his Rogue's gallery, preferrably the Riddler so we can see Bruce Wayne as a genius detective... something Nolan never gave us.

In a perfect world, Nolan would of made a quadrilogy. I will always think a film in-between TDK and TDKR is necessary, but all well.

Well...if anything I'd be up for an Elseworlds graphic novel exploring Blake's decision at the end of TDKR.

GCF: If the Dent Act weren't included, I would be inclined to agree with you.

Fair enough. I think it's one of those things that is polarizing, no doubt.

I think I should have put 'much appreciated by me'. I can't speak for others, but I'd love to see it happen.

If at least for a couple of films till Young Mister Hammer is old enough to don the cape and cowl.

Thank you.

To me, a reboot shouldn't ever happen for ANY movie franchise unless the previous film or films didn't work. Or if it's something that feels dated many years or even decades later.

If they go into remaking Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face too soon it'll feel like rip-offs of Nolans take on those characters. If they do another origin story it'll feel like a Begins remake. A Riddler crime story with Bruces Batman feels like TDK all over again. A Dark Knight Returns adaptation will feel like Rises all over again. "But they'll change the look and tone" OK maybe but who cares? Will the stories change that much? The problem for me is that if you can say OK we're doing a Penguin or Freeze movie with Bruce then i would say alright you can do something different with them. But how long does it go before they rehash certain stories/villains after a couple of movies. How many Jokers can you do? We have our Joker that exists in a purely fantastical world and one in a realistic one. Can you take it to new levels? Go ahead and try..i have an open-mind and ill see it when they release it. But i just cant get excited for it.

There's just so much to do with Robin/Nightwing/Batman Beyond in this series where you dont have to reboot, or repeat Bruce Wayne stories. You can do a lot of cool stories that take it to new places. New villains that Nolan hasn't touched.

Maybe im in the minority here but all i care about are "stories" that haven't been told yet with Batman. Batman Beyonds concept hasn't been done in live-action or if you think WELL it's been done in animated form (same with the Arkham games) then Nightwing is something really new.

Heck, why not mix those three together, add in a couple of comics that havent been used yet for inspiration and you got yourself a couple of more unique stories that branch off from TDKR.

The ones who write it off like there shouldnt be more movies after the trilogy and should reboot. I dont get it. Its not spitting on the trilogy or making it any less of an ending if you keep bruce out of it as Batman and continue Gothams story with Robin Blake at the center. Rises represents the end of Bruces journey as Batman but the beginning of another mans journey.

Agreed with all of that.

I dunno maybe it's better for an elseworlds graphic novel, i like that. But i just dont care for the reboot anymore.

A Catwoman prequel is something id get behind.

Came in here to suggest a Cat Woman prequel and then a closing of this Batman Universe.

It would not be hard at all for Warner Bros to squeeze money out of this with a Quinn Joker Asylum storyline with JGL as the lead but I want nothing to do with that.Let the series end.
