Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. How would you improve the show?

"he's drowned"
"...incorrect... he's been" sun glasses on "...HYDRAtated"
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH -commercial-

OK, you sold me. I'd watch that.

Step 1- Clone Joss.
Step 2- Clone Joss again.
Step 3- Make Clone Joss 1 & Clone Joss 2 (From here on out they shall be named Steve & Alan, respectively, to avoid suspicion of the authorities :ninja:) write & direct the show
Step 4- Success.

I think Marvel already had a saga involving lots of clones. Not sure if it worked out all that well.

But then it wouldn't be Coulson. Maybe he should be recast by David Caruso. He'd always be serious, then he can pull off the SHIELD sunglasses and make bad puns. :word:
I'm sure ratings would skyrocket...

LOL - for me what made the joke not work is it just seemed off somehow. I like cocky Coulson.

do you not think that Skye has powers? The writing is on the wall with that

I meant for them to stop teasing us an actually give us a superpowered teammate. Besides, I have a feeling Skye will turn out to be Squirrel Girl or some other low level superhero.

I'm not looking forward to Skye having powers. The show is too centered on her already and while cute she's not a compelling actress.

When Skye gets superpowers I hope someone else on the cast ( a good guy/girl) gets superpowers too as I'm not looking forward to the 'Skye has powers' show

Thank! You! I think her getting powers will be one of the worse things that can happen because part of the reason last season was so bad was because they had to much of her and this season has been better is because she's been sharing the screen fairly. If she got super powers, they will probably make it all about her and "why am I so special" or her on her journey with powers. Eh, I know it's going to happen anyway but just not really looking forward to it.

^Unless she actually turns to Squirrel Girl. That would be funny as hell.

I like the show, but there's always small things that bug me. For example, why would May throw away the Beserker Staff when they dropped the barbar shop on the soldiers. It seems like it wouldve been the perfect weapon for her and quite the advantage for future episodes. Especially considering the situation the team was in at the time.

It's a hard weapon to control and they need to be able to think?

I bet she was enraged and thought it was a good idea.

Having almost given up on the show in the first season, I now realize I should just put faith in the writers. The twist was well done. I now understand why they had to stall the show for as long as they did to match up with the movies. There were a few things I still think could have gone better, but over all solid effort on their part, to plan everything ahead that way.

That having been said, I still would like a few more meaningful appearances by prominent actors / actresses. For instance Nick Fury's appearance at the end of season 1 was well done. It was a bit cliche, but it worked. (I wish I could say the same thing abut Sif's appearance. I think Jaimie Alexander is a great actress not to mention incredibly hot, but her role was just blah in that episode) It'd be nice to see someone like Hawkeye or Blackwidow, or even Captain America himself show up every now and then. I realize it's probably just a pipe dream, as the named actors / actresses have other important things to do, but it'd be nice if they could dedicate a day or two out of their busy schedule for the fans of the marvel universe that Disney / Marvel have created. Even if it was like a 2 to 3 second Easter Egg of Mark Ruffalo, in the background or something it would just be awesome to see.

Better directors, hire a director of photography, buy some serious cinematographic equipment to be less TV show and more movie.

Jesus, I've seen parts of the Bosh pilot on Youtube. It's so better than AOS that almost made me cry. And it's an Amazon production, not a F**ing 100mld dollars movie.

A couple of episodes directed by David Nutter would do for a start.

Just my two cents. I understand what Marvel was going for, they were aiming for a family friendly procedural ala CSI, NCIS etc. I suppose in the hopes of attracting a wide demographic. However, I think in this day and age you absolutely need to have a show that's edgy and that leaves you wanting more and wanting to know whats going to happen next at the end of each episode. I always felt that this show should've been Marvel's version of '24', a fast paced, high tension, no nonsense action thriller about actual SHIELD agents that are the best they are at what they do but now have to deal with the fact that as good as they are they are hopelessly outmatched in this new world of supernatural threats. I think this concept would've instantly pulled people in and been more interesting than the "rag tag group of misfits who really don't know what they're doing" concept. I think that turned a lot of people off, including myself.

So I would suggest, follow the '24' formula, make SHIELD more like 24's CTU, give us agents who are badass and the best they are at what they do, and end each episode with a cliffhanger that leads directly into the next that way people can't help but want to see what happens in the next episode.

Just my two cents.

^I understand the slow pace. Even the best agents had to wait for Captain America to thaw, or Banner or Deathlok to resurface, or Thor to pop back up. Plus, 24 operated around DC, not really worldwide. Coulson has flight time.

Also, it's cheaper. ;)

I think the show runners have taken much of the criticism to heart and made many appropriate changes. Most of my gripes with the 1st season (specifically the 1st half of it) seem to be addressed this season. Doing it as 2 shorter half seasons results in less "filler episodes", Having Hydra and Kraken gives them a clearly defined nemesis, and adding more comics characters such as Absorbing Man and Mockingbird, especially for multiple episode arcs, appeals to the comic reading fanbase. It seems to me that the general consensus is that the show has been steadily improving after the 2nd half of last season.

Regular crossovers with Daredevil and other Defenders shows. I know they're probably all street-level while SHIELD is the opposite of street level, but mentions of events between the two would be pretty sweet.

^While we're on the subject, I think the Punisher should have had an HBO series a long time ago.
