Wow! You have a harsh sense of snap judgement. Wih an audience full of people like you, can you understand why he seemed nervous now?
This isn't the case. This is an accomplished actor that is supposed to already have the background knowledge into the character since he grew up with him.
If that's the case, he knows what he wants and he knows potentially what the kids are going to expect from this film as well as the other long time fans. He should be flowing with confidence in what he wants to deliver since he can realise what sort of film can keep everyone or the majority of people happy.
I didn't get that from his interview and it was almost like he was avoiding answering some of the questions to try and not upset people.
If he was a hulk fan, he could have easily said that he didn't believe telling an origin was important to the bruce banner character (because i feel it's more interesting for the rick jones character) and that if it felt like it needed re-telling it would be done at a different stage. Instead he came across as trying to be apologetic for not taking the route 'all other' films of this genre are taking (even though that isn't the case).
Look at it this way, if you had to give this guy a couple of hundred million to make this work, would you trust him based on those panel tapes. He sounded more embarassed to be up there than anything.
Personally i want someone up there that is so psyched about the film and gives you the impression they know what they are doing so that if they said the hulk was going to be pink, you'd follow them 100%.
he gave the impression it might be a good film if you come in with an open mind, that's not good enough for me, especially without any footage to reassure me.
