HULK did it! The Marvel RELAUNCH thread

Gerald:

Damon is my first choice to replace Affleck in a DD sequel/remake.

Ghost Rider... done more like The Crow, and not like the 1960's Batman. If I want humor, I'll watch Superbad.

A little while back, I suggested a reboot/sequel to Daredevil with Ben Affleck at the helm. He's proven himself to be a pretty decent director who can assemble a good cast. He could get Matt Damon to play DD, among others.

Daredevil doesn't need to reboot......it was a good movie.

No it wasn't. If it were, then the movie would've made more and we'd see a sequel or two that use stories like the one where Karen sold him out to Kingpin, and memorable villains like Echo (Stilt-Man, Owl, and Gladiator are too corny imo).

Co-sign. DD was trash. I'll say the Director's cut was better, but it was still sub-par. All of it really irked me because DD is an easy character to get right. He needs the Batman Begins-like treatment, play it straight, respect the material, tell a good story, get out of the way.

You know who's a really easy character to get right on film? The Punisher. Painlessly easy....and yet hollywood fumbles it each time.

Yeah, but it's never easy with Fox, since they love to micro-manage and could care less about the source materials. :cmad:

You know...when the rights to Spider-Man are back open and Marvel snags them up....how much you wanna bet they are gonna milk him for all he's worth? :) They may even do fantastic with the character. (I loved the current films...but Marvel doing it would be amazing)

Well, at least you could be sure that whoever they get to play Spidey, he'll act like the Spidey we all know and love. He isn't going to be a wimpy Parker or almost mute Spider-Man.

I'd rather that Marvel just took the vague sequel approach to future DD and FF movies rather than total reboots.

And I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but the organic metal/electrokensis angle wasn't really what bothered me that much about Dr. Doom's portrayal in the FF as much as how the character was written. He was too much of a Norman Osborne knock-off.

Since when does hollywood have any respect for source material?. Some of these movies could've been done so well if the studio execs and writers had actually read a comic book. Whats really galling is the fact that they take all this time to write scripts when if they'd look in the comics the script is basically done for them! Instead we get a directors or producers vision/version of the characters. Just look what they did to Starship troopers. Robert Heinlein is spinning in his grave! They make crap to market to the uncaring public and ignore those of us who actually KNOW who the characters are.

I'd be shocked if Sony didn't make a Spidey sequel every five years just to keep it.

It's not seen as a dead end franchise like DD and Elektra are with Fox.

Don't be so sure. Riami is a huge Spidey fan who respected the material. I'm not sure he's returning after 3 so whoever they get as a replacement isn't necessarily going to do the same if they aren't a comic fan like Sam was.

This is true. Movies like 300 and Sin City turn out so great because they stick to the source. Updates and changes are always called for, but not where it really counts.

guess what... most people feel that way esp with the directors cut:o

No they don't, you are in the minority.
Directors cut? It takes alot more than a few more curse words and some extended scenes to make a **** movie like daredevil decent, let alone good.
:whatever:

I'll admit it I actually enjoyed Daredevil when I first saw it in the movies. That prompted me to actually read the comic for the first time since I was never a fan of the character. But after reading a few issues and comparing the storyline(s) to the movie I was incredibly dissapointed with the movie. So maybe a reboot is in order.

actually it didn't make a bad profit.. it did very decently... alot better then probably half of the marvel movies. Mostly fueling off of the Spider-man 1 flame... but it did due well enough to warrant a sequel (elektra)... sequel talks were made as well for a full fledged sequel (non spin-off), but it took too long and Ben was having issues with it.

ur not the only one, i actually agree... and the magic angle can always come later in the movies... that doesnt bother me

actually until i came into this thread... i really havent heard much about people hating the DC... most on here tend to give it praise... and i've been around these boards for a long while sonny boy

Fantastic Four seriously needs a restart. I really hope we get one, once Marvel gets their rights back.

No lame organic metal Doom. I want a Doom that has armor that rivals Iron Man's. With technology that makes even Stark Enterprises looks like childs play.

As for the FF, I'd probably keep everyone except Alba. We need a strong leading female, with motherly vibe that actually fits the part and doesn't look like she jumped out of the Movie White Chicks. Thing needs to be CGI and I want to actually see him brawl and not have the fight take place in a garbage truck.

Yeah the bes thing about those movies were actor choices for Thing, Reed & Johnny.
