I Am Doom....discuss me [merged-2]

I am willing to give it a shot at least. Whether we agree or not I think there are some elements of Doom's origin that could be updated without treading on Lee/Kirby hallowed ground. There's plenty of gaps that could be filled in.
Let's just hope that Brubaker breaks with current Marvel SOP and does actually fill in rather than re-write Doom's history. If that is the case, I can't wait. If it's another re-tread... no thanks. :doom:

I'm expecting something along the likes of Joe Casey's Earth's Mightiest Heroes with a mix of Lex Luthor: Man of Steel but written as a big overview of Victor's past up to the present or so.

He looks regal too, just strolling about like that. I'm so glad that they're not turning him into a crazy, over the top loon as so often happens, and not just in comic book films.

^ Actually, I think that's kinda what they're doing, but I'll have to see the movie first to know for sure.

This is like the Usagi Yojimbo movie I hope they never make. Or the one I keep fearing they'll make.

Ah......UY and theWatchmen....still unmolested!

I saw the trailer for ths movie recently....I sense the dark side at work here. And I mean the NEW dark side, with better special effects but worse acting. Fear the green screen dark side.

"..But Ben just shook his head in obvious disappontment and annoyance. <Yer hittin' up Von Doom for the money? Von Doom?>
<It's not as bad as all that...>
<His name's Von Doom! That alone->
<Now you're just being ridiculous.>
<His name was Van Daam, y' know? He changed it to Von Doom just t' scare the crap outta people.>
<You're not amusing, Ben. Not remotely.>

I'm already planning to write fanfics on F4. Right now you can go to Fanfiction.net then email the people in charge and recommend them to add Fantastic Four in the movie section and make sure you tell them you have a fanfic already completed. It would take awhile but fanfiction.net is the best fanfiction site because it's the biggest.

They have a fanfiction section here in the SHH! Community forum, other than that i don't know.

Oh i was assuming it was the movie. If it's comic or cartoon Doom you are writing about go to fanfiction.net and go to the Comics section they have a Marvel link and that's where you would post them. You have to register to post, it's free. Anymore questions about it just PM me. I've written 20 stories and have been a member for 2 years.

That sounds awesome, JMF, I'll check it out. The only other major site I've visited as a registered poster is KillerMovies, and this one you tell about sounds good:up:

A good... Doom project ? Am I dreaming ? Brubaker writing Doom's origin, the man behind Batman : The man who laugh, writing a 6 parts Doom origin, and him UNDERSTANDING Doom ?

After the atrocity of the movie, the horrible changes in House of M, and, well, I won't even go in the cartoon direction, hope is coming back ?

Sniff.

The new cartoon is proof of how much the Manga/ Manhwa craze is affecting our culture as far as animated art goes. It has been admitted that such type of simplifying of these characters we've grown up with has been influenced by it. It goes way back even before WB's animated Batman series to now. It's cost effective as far as labor goes, and aside from whatever reasons they give to alter the looks, it all boils down to saving money. I'm not sold on the idea that such style of artwork really appeals that much, or as much as they claim it does. I love anime and all the types to Manga artwork that I've seen, but I don't really find it necessary for Marvel, DC or whatever to feel the need to follow in the craze's footsteps. The Marvel animated series done throughout the 90's is the type of style I wish they would stick with. Not only does the style accomodate the original source material, but it would show signs of them not walking in anyone's footsteps except their own.
Likw I said, I love Manga, and Manhwa (Manhwa is the style the new F4 cartoon seems to be the most fashioned after), but I just feel that Marvel should just stick to the original look given to all of these. Just compare the original Doom look to the "revised" new cartoon version and the comparison is just plain old absurd. At least I think so....

That is so wrong it hurt in all the wrong places. How can any of us, Doom fans, ever even consider supporting THAT ???

It's just Electro in a half-made Doom outfit... It's just Electro in a half-made Doom outfit... It's just Electro in a half-made Doom outfit...

Until I saw some hideous pictures on the Hype in the last week, I didn't even know they were making a new FF cartoon. What channel is this going to be on, and when does it start? I haven't subjected myself to enough depressingly trashy superhero entertainment lately and I really think this cartoon will be good for what ails me.

I, too, really hate the way manga and anime styles are being used for fiction franchises that were not created during this annoying fad. The practice of having Asian artists complete the animation for cheaper cost was also used for the Batman and X-Men series of the 90's, and those turned out great, because even though the Batman show actually had a slight resemblance to anime (don't argue with me, people, this is a stated fact), it wasn't trying to ride the coattails of a fad. It had its own style. I personally didn't think the animation for the 90's Fantastic Four cartoon was that great, but if they did it in the style of the X-Men cartoon, that would have been awesome. That's what they should be doing now, but alas, the Fantastic Four was not fated for greatness in any type of moving pictures in the 21st century.

If only it was, if only it was.

I'd love to be able to say to myself, that this has the potential to be a good "electro" update. But even that, i'm not so sure...

Can you imagine Marvel saying to themself "Hey, Electro won't appear in the spider-man franchise, to many villains Sony wants to use before him. But we still wants him. Let's merge him with Doom, and we'll get double the fans to come to the theatre. We are genius! Lick our shoes, and eat our garbage, for we are Gods."

Well, **** them. :mad: :(

And worse, those wannabe aren't even imitating the GREAT anime directors. I mean, if they were looking at Miyazaki movies, or Oshii's works, we might get some awesome looking wannabe artwork. But they seem to be looking at the lowest trash the anime community is offering...

Now, if this new look Doom has appeals to someone, then it appeals to someone.:rolleyes: I just can't help but shake my head just a little bit out of despisement more over the fact that Doom has been going through probably the most pulverization I've ever seen done to a comic book character since the days when all the golden age heros were assigned a side-kick step-child. At least I don't feel alone here with my disgust for this treatment they're giving Doom. I mean, I'm not sure if any one can name us any other comic book character given this much disgracefull treatment... Did Stan and Jack do something to someone that created some kind of bad karma? Did they anger someone in the entertainment industry? And if so, why did they single out Dr Doom out of all people to be the one to make the most of an example of? I don't know what else to say except, that I'm truely gratefull that I'm not alone in my loathing here... because this is just flat out depraved. It's times like these when I ought to feel ashamed of being a F4 fan. :down:
