Punisher is getting a sequel.
Hulk is getting a sequel.
Dude, IT'S NOT getting a sequel. Arad's been telling us for the last two years "expect an announcement of a new director in 3 weeks!" And nothing. sure, he wants it to get a sequel, but it's not happening. You believe Arad's BS and I've got a bridge to sell you. The one you just saw in the FF clip.
The Daredevil franchise recently got a director's cut @ DVD and there is talk of a sequel (this was chronicled on this very site recently).
Arad explained in his last interview that they don't have the rights to DD. And by the time they get them back, no one will care. The stars of the film won't be returning.
Wolverine, Magneto and possibly even a Storm spin-off film are in the works. Namor, Captain America and Thor are in talks. Luke Cage is in preproduction. All of these (and more) are products of the house of M. So it's more than just Spidey or X-Men--Marvel is saturating the market with its titles. Not each and everyone can be a hit Dragon--but that doesn't mean Marvel is holding sway right now.
Sure movies are in talks. If you saw all the thousands of movie "that are in talks" this wouldn't be impressing you. Hell
I have movies that are in talks.
And by saturating the market with films no one cares to see (Magneto. STORM????) the only good thing that will come of this is that Arad will get his ass fired for incompetence.
Um yeah but can you not admit that DC is copying Marvel's formula? Hell, they abducted the X-Men's franchise entire support system to do their own rehash. DC has only served up one successful film of late. That doesn't erase all of its major failures (right up to 2004's debacle Catwoman--which DOES count) that killed the comic book film genre in the first place.
Nothing has killed the comic book film genre (Although Marvel might succeed by over-saturating the market). DC has had 4 flops- Supes 4, Batman in Trouble, Steel and CINO. And those were so spread out that it's hard to even identify them together. Marvel's assembly line production slate is killing their franchises in rapid succession. And no- they are copying Marvel's formula. They may hay done so in the comis back in the 80's, but that's long been accepted. and consdiering all the bad stuff Marvel has produced over the years both comics-wise and film wise they certainly don't have a corner on good movies or comic books.
MEH, that doesn't mean anything Dragon. Avi has been Marvel's CEO for well over a decade. Just because he didn't take front and center until Marvel's second big hit with Spider-Man doesn't mean he wasn't calling the shots. As far as I've read on-line he did indeed hire Sam AND Bryan.
No, Sony and Fox hired them. Arad might have been in on the meetings but he didn't have final say. At the time Marvel was still proving themselves. Spidey bought Arad
alot of clout.
So we either accept that Arad doesn't have control over the projects, or if he does, doesn't know what to do with the characters. Either way, he's an idiot.
