No, VDX.

I've seen some offer logical opinions...and be blasted for doing so. What's more, the ones doing the blasting come from the angle of "Well, you're only here because of the actor--you don't really know/care about the character of Doom." Then they proceed to pitch a million examples from the source material as to how this adaptation fails and proves the other fan's point moot. How does a casual fan compete with that?

So the blame is placed where it needs to be. We are the ones who are intolerant.
But I love everyone as long as they acknowledge that I am ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

Look, I apologize if my post yesterday offended some of you. So Herr, Wetgorilla, HeadOnCollider, Saint, Dragon...I'm sorry if I came across like I was "discounting" your concerns. You guys know the rest of us share them too... and perhaps my choice of words was not the best. I will edit my original post.

However, while I do not defend the changes made to Doom, I also will not defend this snobbish, arrogant mentality developing here. It's wrong. As diehard fans of the material, we need to be more tolerant and respectful of other fans who do embrace movie Doom. I am tired of some of us fanboys thinking our opinion carries more value than those who are just now becoming fans of this comicbook. Such ones should not be attacked for simply having a different view of the subject--or even--- GASP!!!---liking this Dr. Doom adaptation.

Dr. Doom is not a subject worthy of discussion only by the "fanboy elite".

Such thinking is unfair...and unbalanced.

Nope.

Obviously the pix ruffled feathers and hurt feelings and it's not worth it. The "Whining" comment could have been worded differently...but the crux of my issue with this thread remains.

That's funny... the main reason I get nasty with casual or non-fans is because they act like snobs. That's where words like "whining" and "fanboy" come from, usually.
Admittedly, some of the people who really piss me off are really just ignorant children that just spew pre-manufactured slogans and such, but that in itself is condescending and disgusting. Nobody gets a free pass for $hit like that.

Maturity? Man please. :o This is what happened (as usual). You saw Mr. Wetgorilla quote me 10x in a row, and the famed Herr Logan disputing my posts. So since you can't forge an attack on your own, what do you do? The same thing you do every other damn time--you wait and then bandwagon. Lo and behold, in the midst of the battle, here you come egging on with this instigating "Naa-Na-Na-Naaa You're A Studio Plant too! So there!!!"

And that's your definition of maturity huh?

Do you even know what a studio plant is?? They rarely posts on forums at all and they prefer to be low-key. They observe and then they report their findings to the studio. Now, to label a fan as a "plant" is to imply that person is here for ulterior motives and that such ones do not truly care about this comic or the film beyond getting a paycheck. That said, to callme the same is both an insult to my intelligence and to me as a fan.
I may have skimmed through WG's posts, and when I really sit and read his stuff, I usually find that it 's stuff that I was already thinking. I think WG is brilliant in many ways and just because certain people don't like it when others like what he says, doesn't lose his credibility at all. The fact that I usually agree with what he says, not always but usually, only gives his views more credibility.
Like the way you walk me through events here in your snide, condescending tone, you make claims about whatever intentions you think I'm acting on behalf of as though you really know what you're talking about... you're not a psychologist, so do you really know what intentions people have behind their statements? No, Atleast not to the degree of making such bolt accusations like the one you've made about me. I don't think you're all that good at sizing people up . So since you're lacking in that department, let me make it clear, I'll address you any time, any place, whether or not the Awesome people who share a remote view as I do is addressing you in the same way at the same time or if there's no one else around. If I recall correctly, after you kept directing me to your PM's, it was you who ended the conversation prematurely.... :o

Is that fair? How bad is it that lurkers can't get the nerve to get into our discussions because of some haughty-ass arrogant Doom-fans won't let them pass without blaszing them.

I am one of those rarities in that I am a female comic book fan. Believe me I know because I frequent many comic book shops in my area and I pretty much stand out. This movie has a chance to attract a large female audience if we let them into our little community. It has always been male dominated and I think the industry is a less diverse one because of it. Face it, the source material of these films, the comic books themselves, have long passed their heyday in terms of units sold. It is debatable whether or not these movie adaptations have shown an increase in readership but at least it keeps interest in the characters and the medium itself alive. Probably very few of the posters around here even realize that is wasn't very long ago that Marvel Comics themselves were in bankrupcy and could have very nearly gone away for good. The fledgling Cross Gen comics, for example, folded up shop a couple of years ago.

I never realized that some fans were discouraged from posting here and if I have in some small way contributed to that, I apologize. I think the acrimony should have stopped a while ago and we really need to move on until we actually see the *$%&! movie.

P.S. And Julian McMahon is hot no matter what the outcome..:D

well all i was saying to Herr was that i agreed with your views on how the snobbery against the movie fan was becoming more prevalent and that you 2 could sort the other issue out

I definitely agree that it's better to speak up than keep silent. I agree with your reasons for doing so. I may have spoken up too soon with what I said before, but I just wanted to reduce the chance of nasty escalation. Maybe there was prior context between you and Lightning (like I said, I haven't read everything in this bloated thread very closely in the past few days), I just was worried that even if it was, someone else may take it as an excuse to up the ante. You know what I mean?

Uh, let's not air dirty laundry.

That situation happened a long time ago and has nothing to do with this. Besides, you're not presenting all the details involved with that situation, so it has no relevance to this discussion.

Well, I'm not giving out free passes either Herr. Hence my statement yesterday. But I've edited now. I've said what I need to say on the matter.

I haven't read all of her posts, but unless Iron Maiden made a drastic change in behavior since I became familiar with her posting style, she is definitely not to blame in any of this. "Education" is exactly what I would have (and have, on occasion) said her contribution was.

If it happened a long time ago and is as irrelevant as you say, then where exactly are you basing your claims about my "usual" behavior then? If my usual behavior is to jump into a conversation where everyone is ganging up on poor old Lightning so I can..... I don't know what you were really getting at with that, but you were acting like you had my personality covered to the T, and in order to do so, you'd have to base it on my previous behavior right? Otherwise you're just being presumtuous:eek: and Lightning is never presumtuous, or snotty or any of those things that I suppose all the Doomite purists are doing(?) So wher are you getting any of this? Where are you getting these personality traits of mine from? Where did you get that I only jump into these conversations when you're outnumbered as though I'm some kind of weak coward who only befriends all these so called, "Bullies" you speak of?

My daughter's Mom, my ex-wife, told me last night that she was ordering ...I don't remember if she said which seasons it was, but she was ordering a "Charmed" collection because of how hot she thinks "Cole" is. She's totally into Julian... a huge fan of his.... I'm almost flattered that she has good taste in men. SHe picked me once right? :D

You really don't want to go there with me--especially not on this thread. It'd be detrimental, trust me...

Now...I already apologized for and retracted my comment. You, on the other hand, have not. That said, it'd be a mistake to misinterpret my kindness for weakness. Don't overstay your welcome.

 WTF? Hey PM me anytime boss...

Now...I already apologized for and retracted my comment. You, on the other hand, have not.
I'm thinking about it, and to be quite honest, I don't believe I have anything to apologize for, so let us first establish what it is I have something to say, "I'm sorry Lightning" about? If I was out of line reposting your pics with the blankies, the babies, the very ones that reminded me of that manip that you posted saying,"Orange9mm, if you don't shut the **** up, I'm going to stick this thumb up your ***..." then I guess I ...apologize for the sake of keeping the peace?... I guess... so where exactly am I not supposed to go here Lightning, that's so detrimental? Hmm...  whatever...meh. I apologize Lightnin (for whatever reason,I don't know) but I apologize for the sake of not going where Lightnin says is detrimental
That said, it'd be a mistake to misinterpret my kindness for weakness. Don't overstay your welcome
and what the hell is that supposed to mean? Am I supposed to read between Lightning's lines here? WTF indeed...

BTW, an apology doesn't mean anything if the behavior continues, Lightning, why bother apologizing when you're gonna turn back around and make statements like the one above that borderlines making cyber-threats? If any statement of mine needs a detraction, it's my apology because I don't see your behavior undergoing any changes anytime soon.

They'll have wasted a whole movie explaining how he wouldn't need an armor. I doubt they'll make a 180 in the next one, approving they took the bad road.

"Hey, fans were right. Making him a metal man was a bad idea. Let's give him a body armor in the next one."

There is nearly no chances they will do that. It's Fox we are talking about, not some marvel writer who knows his stuff, and can admit when he's in the wrong. (though, even that is getting rare these days)

I'm thinking less and less that there will be a next one. And to be honest, I don't know that i even give a damn if there is.

If it gets a sequel it'll be in spite of how lame Klytus is, not because of it. Best thing that could happen is for the sequel to not feature Klytus.

OK, I'll ask....

who is Klytus?

A character from the campy "Flash Gordon" movie from the 1980's. He was one of Ming's henchmen and had a Doom-like costume. I'm sure someone has an image of it somewhere.
