That's absolutely uncalled for. I don't care what you think about this movie's production, that is completely inappropriate. Movie studios doing things you don't like with adaptations is not and never will be even remotely comparable to sexual violence. Cut it out.

Try picking up a dictionary. There are different definitions of the word rape.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rape

4. an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation:
the rape of the countryside.

5. Archaic. the act of seizing and carrying off by force.

That's not the connotation the word carries in our culture. And that definition A) only applies to actual egregious acts of oppression and depravity, and B) is still a metaphorical reference to sexual violence.

Okay word police. Maybe in your mind. Wherever you're going with this it's not what I meant. Let's move on shall we?

Fox has pulled the Doom pic, please do not post the pic until it is officially released.

Thanks,

Kelly

Too late on Fox's part. The genie is out of the bottle. We might not be able to post it here any more, but every comic book fan has already seen it. The damage has been done.

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

Why pull the only pieces of "promotion" they have out there? :funny:

It's hilarious I tell ya. They're gonna pull it 2 days after it leaked?:lmao:

Skipping Comic Con is the best decision Fox and co. have made yet.

It would have been like this if there was a FF panel.:oldrazz:

It almost seems like they are slowly leaking bits and pieces and seeing the reaction. I keep thinking we are going to hear any time now that it is having re-shoots.....for the next year.

What, they thought there was a chance it would have a positive reaction and would be warmly embraced? Maybe in the Negative Zone where everything is back to front... or Bizarro World.

I hope they reshoot the whole movie with a new appropriate cast and writer.:o Also why would they care what the fanboy community thinks? I thought we only made up a very small percentage of the General audience. Our opinions don't matter in the big picture.

Maybe also with a new studio. :oldrazz:

I was just showing my 8 year old daughter (who along with my 10 year old son are new initiates to the Marvel Universe, both are really digging it btw) the picture of Dr. Doom. She took one look and started laughing, saying how stupid he looks. She then declared him "Dr Dumb". I lol'd. :lmao:

TMNT was a family oriented film which there were few of this summer. Also the Turtles have always been popular going back to the 80's. The previous FF films were mildly popular, but they were more or less faithful to the source material (certainly closer than anything in this film), it's unlikely to see any huge jump from the previous incarnation.

The Turtles also had two hit tv shows in the past decade that introduced a new generation of kids to Turtle mania, which meant that unlike FF their brand strength currently is pretty strong. It also helps that you Michael Bay producing your film and a decent named actress like Megan Fox headlining your movie.

One studio comes in mind. But t's heresy to speak of it here.:o

Exact same thing happened with TMNT.

When the awful Shredder concept art leaked(which looked exactly as he did in the movie), they yanked it. I even got a cease and desist on my Tumblr for posting it and I'm a nobody.

That movie had ZERO marketing as well, until only 5 months before the film came out. And that movie also apparently sucked balls.

This movie is going the exact same route. Little bit of set photos here and there, leaked stuff from closed sets or character outfits, zero official marketing.

I can't decide if Fox dragged it's feet on pulling these pics because the budget couldn't afford ninjas to be on the lookout, or because they wanted the pictures out there to prove this film is actually being made.

Understandably deleted from the thread of positive Doom. It might more better belong here.:cwink:

Secret Origin of Doom....

Edit that^^ or you'll get infracted. It's funny though.:funny:

Edit that or you'll get in trouble.

Just leave the potato on the grill and that's pretty much what DINO looks like. :funny:

OK I edited out, but I'm confused to why I'd get infracted.
I get why it was removed from the "positive" thread, even though I was specifically responding to a guy there who called him "Dr. Potato" - which is what made me see him as a baked potato to begin with. - http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=29631847&postcount=484

But why wouldn't it be allowed here:huh:

Can it go in the Manips & Art thread? Although I think it would be insulting to to the actually talented people there. It's just a funny baked potato with a face on it , hardly a Manip.
Anyway it was just meant to be funny, I guess I'm clueless.

Fox told SHH and I assume everybody else to stop posting that pic.

You should leave the potato. That was funny and accurate.

Iron Man 3 clearly, every single fan told everyone here that Mandarin being a racial stereotype was bad and the movie's version of Mandarin was the best version ever.

Clockwork Orange, Kubrick wisely chose to ignore the book's ending and made his own spin to it, giving one of the finest conclusion's to movies out there.

Stephen King movie adaptations come to my mind, noone cares about the Shining book and the prequel that was released a few years ago lol.

Avengers 2. It's going to be succesful and good most likely, despite completely changing Ultron's backstory, from Hank Pym to Tony Stark. Superhero Hype will declare Hank Pym origin as bad and Whedon's version as brilliant, just wait for it. :word::halo:

Shining is a well liked book. Clockwork Orange is, also. Bad examples. I am talking about a good version of something that has a bad foundation. Most Stephen King based films at least have a decent foundation, and Clockwork Orange did as well.

Avengers 2 is making changes, yes, but Marvel has been good about incorporating newer elements and such into their ideas while keeping the heart of what the title stands for. Their biggest change is the Mandarin, who I wouldn't call a BAD villain. He is a racial stereotype, yes, but he is still a decent comic book villain. Granted, Marvel changed him A LOT, and the end product was a solid movie IMO (though many argue that one in fandom). Pym's version of the origin will never be declared bad. Making Ultron a creation of Stark is for pure conveniance for the plot, and it sort of makes sense.

What they're doing to Doom is not element incorporation. What we're seeing is a direct adaptation of an inferior version. This is not like giving Stark a public identity like in the Ultimates, or having SHIELD help bring the Avengers together. The heart and soul of the 616 characters was maintained in those translations, and with Doom, we know he is part of the experiment, and he directly looks like his Ultimate counterpart. This is a strong indication he won't resemble Doom in the way MCU Cap, Stark, etc resemble their characters with updates. I mean, even in the ultimate universe, they retooled Doom's appearance to look more like 616 Doom because someone down the line realized he looked stupid in their attempt to salvage him (though it failed). This is a straight up, poor version of Doom we're seeing.

I was in the FF board when the Story films were coming out, and plenty of people knew it was going to be bad before they came out, and I tried maintaining optimism during it. But in the end, they were right. All our worries came to pass, and both films sucked. This has the same feeling for a reason. All signs point to this being crap.
