I feel like DC still doesn't know what they're doing

Cage is a cool actor who takes a lot of heat, but he would not have made a good Superman. The costume looks bad, too.

They said the same about Keaton as Batman. Why do you think he wouldn't have made a good Superman?

Personally, I always saw him as being a great Lex Luthor but I really don't see why he would've been a bad Superman?...Outside of not conventionally "looking" the part.

Or you could just watch X-Men First Class, Kingsman, and Kick-ass all on your own.

I have and can't recall many scenes where the CG was awful, which is odd given your claim that "all of his CG is, for the most part, terrible". If that were even remotely true (hint: it isn't) you'd have an abundance of examples for me instead of merely telling me to watch the films as if that somehow proves your point.

XFC definitely looked terrible at times but I don't remember any problems with Kick-Ass.

Then I'd just question your eye for detail.

The evidence is there. Its not an argument or debate. If you can't see my point than thats your failing not mine. I'm not out to prove anything. My opinion is my opinion.

Also, I just don't respond well to laziness. If you can't look up examples by yourself, I don't see why I should have to do it for you. Especially since I'm not making an argument. Just sharing my opinion.

You made a clearly hypberolic statement, and I simply asked that you get specific. "Laziness", lol. Really not asking that much, just looking for examples. If you can't provide them that's on you.

As cool as the scene was, the shots with the Jet-pack looked bad. Not XFC bad but still pretty bad.

Oh look, there's one. Was that difficult?

For the most part means exactly how I meant it. I didn't say his practical FX look bad but the CGi in all of his films do. All of his films, means all of his films. How is that not specific? Pick any one scene with CGI and compare it with a Snyder flick or any flick with "good" CGi and it looks terrible. I even gave you a list of the films to watch. You said you watched them, You obviously don't agree. Cool. All the CGi is terrible in those films and some worst than others. If you don't agree than leave it at that cuz that's on you and it's not my desire nor purpose to convince you of anything you can't see.

Buddy, couldn't recall. So I helped. They still may not agree but I don't care. I'm not engaging in a debate. You always do, from what I can tell. I'm just not interested in that.
Be Happy with that specificity.

The cgi in First Class was pretty bad. But you cant really blame the director for that. He had what, 11 months in total to make that film. And Fox don't usually use ILM or WETA.

For the same reason(s) Keanu R. (also a cool actor) would not. :D

:woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

Back in the 90s, some magazine, maybe Wizard, made one of those film-adaptation-imagination things and suggested the cast for what would be a Green Lantern/Kyle Rayner film. And it suggested Keanu as Kyle. And I would love to have seen it!

Of course I can. Do I blame him entirely?...No. He still shares the blame doh.
Ratner shot X3 in something like 6 months and a lot of the CG looks masterful in comparison.
Vaughn even had time to add some shots before the movie was released from what I remember.

Vaughn is a great storyteller but he won't be a great director until he knows how to delegate and organize better. I think he likes working under pressure doh. He thrives on it and it reflects in his style of shooting.

Cage is definitely an odd choice and we can't know for sure how he would have turned out in the role, but that one behind the scenes pic of him in a more classic suit wasn't so bad(though short hair would have been better).

Those SUPERMAN LIVES suits are behind the scenes pictures. They're hardly in the lighting they would have been shot in during the films, etc. I have a hard time believing Colleen Atwood would have suddenly have forgotten how to make a suit that would look good on film, or that Tim Burton would have forgotten how to make supersuits look good on film.

With recent announcement that Black Adam won't even be in Shazam even though they've lined up the friggin Rock to play him and now a Joker origin movie planned I feel like they just dashed my hopes that DC's movie division with its reworked executives set up might know what they're doing now.

If the Joker origin movie rumour is true it'll be conclusive proof to me, because that should never had made it passed the first suggestion. Maybe their worst movie concept yet.

I could go on but what do you all think?

Idk anything about the Black Adam deal, but I wasn't too excited one way or the other about that.

I actually think this is all a great idea and the right way to go. They can still have a cinematic universe, but it doesn't all have to connect and fit in with one another, and dilute the entire universe with way too much stuff going on. Just keep it confined to the JL extended film series, and then anything else, the creators have free reign to do what they want. Batman shows up in a Joker film, it can be s different interpretation, it doesn't have to be Affleck or JK Simmons as Gordon, or even pidgeonhole the director into having to make a film based around the Leto version

The DCEU films have their own tone and themes, but I wasn't too crazy about the idea of having to make a Lobo that fits into that world, for example.

This way, if we aren't happy with a certain incarnation of a character, we aren't stuck with it, somebody else could try a different interpretation. I think it creatively frees up everybody, and we can even get cool Elseworld stories. I would kill to see a live action Kingdom Come for example

The comics have been doing this for years, why not the films? They don't have to follow the Marvel formula and cram every single character and show into the same series

Edit: Kinda jumped the gun on my post after reading the OP, so apologies that this has nothing to do with the current conversation

Lives would've been better than any Superman film after II, I'm sure of it.

I'm pissed it never happened.

Lex, Brainiac, Doomsday and a Death of Superman arc? I'm so in. The cast was amazing too.

If you watch the documentary, you will see footage of him in the suit with short hair. Personally, I think the long hair looked better for him.

CGI thing isn't even a problem. it's easily fixable, all they have to do is just use better CGI studio.
but no matter what you do you can't make Snyder a better storyteller.

Agreed the CGi technically, is an easy fix but a director has to know how to properly plan those shots as well as be good at executing them to make them look effective.

i don't exactly agree that he can't be made into a better storyteller, it takes practice but that's just also why I think he should direct a script written by Vaughn or someone/anyone who has a generally good sense on how to write comic book flicks.

Both directors have their strengths and weaknesses. If the 2 were to combine on a flick where they could just bring their strengths to the table and solely focus on doing the things they're good at. It'd be amazing.

Snyder shouldn't really practice his directorial skills on a blockbuster. No director should. Blockbusters should be preserved for those directors who have largely mastered their craft.

And getting Vaughn to write the script won't do anything to correct Snyder's bugly visual aesthetic.
