Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

Without spoilers - does Thanos have cooler showcase of power despite the Moon throw scene that was teased in the EW image?

Thanks.

I'm thinking, if we hadn't been teased with the moon sequence, that might have been the coolest. That's unfortunately how expectation works. But Thanos has so many cool features.

In his fight with Strange though, Strange outcools him.
Even though Thanos beats him.

The moon is the most powerful in terms of sheer power but all the individual stones gets a chance to shine

Thanks for clarifying!

I am so looking forward to that moon scene. I know I have already asked in the other thread - but how cool does it look? I mean when it happens? That moon scene is probably the scene I am looking forward to most. It just screams awesomeness in terms of power showcasing.

What an incredible character Thanos was. As powerful as he is it's his personality and mindset that is the most memorable thing about him. He's very well written and Brolin did a fantastic job bringing that to life (and of course props to the effects teams for making Brolin's performance show).

You've described the Starlin Thanos perfectly. That's the difference between Starlin's Thanos and the Thanos written by others. He is so deep.

I can't wait to see this movie.

Just remember that Malekith almost caused the heat death of the universe with the Reality Stone.

Yep, no other individual stone has been shown to be powerful enough to effect the ENTIRE universe.

Thanos was a pure beast. Amazing and well-crafted villain.

There was truly a sense of desperation for the heroes whenever he interacted with any of them. He was just THAT much powerful.

I sure like the sound of that, it didn't take 10 years to build up to him for naught.

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like Thanos is everything for the MCU that Apocalypse SHOULD have been for the X-verse. Shame.

Thanos was very good and his movie motivations grew on me. You can't expect him to have the same motivation or the same level of power than in the comics (I'm getting angry at the "nerfed" expression right now)... You won't get Eternity, Oding, Galactus and others to gang up on Thanos so accept the differences !

In addition, Thanos was everything I expected Ultron to be based on the dark AoU trailers - physically imposing, smart but brute force and a scary villain.

We got all of that with Thanos, but a cracking omlette-jokes Ultron that got beaten up by almost every Avenger.

After Ultron being my most hyped thing about AoU and leaving disappointed, I am glad Thanos finally took the crown and delivered on what he was promised to be!

I feel there kinda was, at least to me, a big fan of the comics. Not physically more power but a cooler use of power IMO

For those who have watched, the scene I'm referring to is

The first correct use of the reality stone when he meets the Guardians on Knowhere. Love how he breaks Drax and Mantis apart, faked the entire scene to let Gamora think she kills him, changes Starlord's bullets to bubbles. Brilliant overall IMO and more impressive to me than the moon scene

Thanos is the best MCU villain by far, and the first serious contender from Marvel Studios to enter the canon of all-time great movie villains. He is both one of the most well-developed and tragic characters of any villain we've seen in a Marvel film, and also by a wide margin the most formidable a threat. A+!

What was great about Thanos was he actually had depth and truly believed in what he was doing.

Thanos even has his own twisted version of honor. He does give some of his foes respect if he thinks they deserve it.

While going full-on Auschwitz on 50% of living beings anywhere and everywhere, 'cause "resources problem".

He's still the worst guy that ever lived.

My god did Brolin knock it out the park.

When they said this was Thanos's movie...they meant it.
From the moment he stepped onto the Asgardian ship to him watching the sunrise on his farm....WOW....thats all I can say.

Brolin knocked it out of the effing park IMO. Easily the best MCU villians ever and definitely one of the best cbm movie villains of all-time.

Thanos is the best villian in mcu. Nothing but power. My mom is in her sixties she knows hulk Thor cap & Spidey & she kept saying wooow thanos is a sick sick man!!! To be able to take them all out. & He was!! I saw it Thurs at 7pm. this was astounding & very emotional. Love Stan Lee's cameo as always!

Brolin was the rock-solid foundation of what could (and should) have been a ridiculous folly of a movie.

I don't think he's the best ever comic book movie villain, necessarily. Need a rewatch, but certainly he can't top Ledger's Joker for me. That was a lighting-in-a-bottle performance in TDK.

But I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it... This movie simply would not have worked if Thanos had been flat. And he could have been, so easily, in so many ways. Brolin deserves heaps of credit for this movie.

The MCU is too low of a bar for villains as it's obvious he is in a different league compared to them. He's going for the all time spot IMO and by the time Avengers 4 is done he'll likely be at worst in my top 3 but with a genuine shot at no.1. After 3 viewings he has got better every time.
