Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

I think he always knew that. To me, he didn't change. They just gave him more complexity and nobility beyond evil guy wants to kill everyone to impress a girl.

I don't really see the arc part myself. [BLACKOUT]He didn't really change at all from beginning to end. We know his goals, and he sticking to them to the very end. It's not like he ever contemplates that what he's doing is wrong, and that there could be another way.[/BLACKOUT]

I agree with everything else though.

Nobility?
The movie opens with at least half of a group of civilian refugees gunned down on his orders. Who cares what his motivation is, the result is what matters, it doesn't matter if this is his idea of dinner and a movie or culling the herd, he's a bad guy.

Not to mention

there was no reason to kill half the aasgardians and almost more than half were already culled by Hela

Exactly!
It isn't the result for this *****, it's whether he does it or not. Not him, doesn't count. There's no nobility, there's nothing special about him, he's just a spree killer.

The Asgardians don't have a home anymore so they'll be off to feed on someone else's resources.

However, I don't think that attack had that much to do with the grand plan. He was just being devastating in his search for the stone. Now that he's so close to achieving his ultimate goal I don't think he's going to do any small time population culling for the sake of it.

I REALLY hope they keep Thanos alive, or at least give him a believable way to come back.

Given this is Thanos shouldn't be too hard.

hope so too maybe years down the line the avengers seek him out for help :woot:

Really hoping the blu ray doesn't bare bones the extras and we get an in depth look into how Thanos was created. The extras for Marvel movies are thin on the ground.

I hope they will give us that backstory on Thanos which was edited out of the theatrical cut, but I personally want a Director's Cut that is 3 hours long, which Marvel has never done before. Sadly, I doubt they will do it for IW either.

I doubt we will ever see a director's cut for a Marvel movie. Pity.

Markus & McFeely's recent interview with Collider indicates to me that those scenes were cut in the script phase. So was Xandar. So I don't think those were filmed.

So when the battle on Titan was just beginning there was an explosion around Thanos and you can see he is using the power stone then he changes to the soul stone and whips all the debris at Stark, how he did use the soul stone there? Did he change the debris into something else?

The soul stone has access to a pocket dimension and basically grants control over all life. The soil of the planet maybe.

He changed to the Reality stone & used it to turn the debris into chunks of little flying death. It reminded me of tiny bats or birds.

But whatever it was turned into, he used the Reality stone to do it. I'm gonna watch it again tonight(my 15th time) so if I'm wrong, I'll gladly come back and say I was wrong.

He switched to the Reality stone, not the Soul stone.

I Thanos only uses the soul stone once. That is during the and the talk with baby Gamora. I thought he used it to pick out the correct Dr. Strange when Strange makes copies of himself but the soul stone isn't used in that instance. Also Thanos beats Hulk WITHOUT using the power stone.

Yup. They don't show him using the Soul Stone at all by its self. He used the Power stone to bring Strange back down to one.

Man, that opening scene was all sorts of crazy. It just jumped right into it. Caught me a bit off guard. More so though because the closest theater to me is a complete hole in the ground(1st time I went there, & last) They didn't dim the lights until a few seconds into the Marvel intro, they had the lights fully on through all two of the Trailers...the sound was HORRIBLE too.

There was zero time to chill & get comfy before focusing on the main event. I'm still bitter about that lol.

I was impressed with that fight with Hulk. I know it was CGI, but none of it had that CGI "look" that a lot do. I wont name names or anything.

He didn't use the Soul Stone when talking with Baby Gamora. I don't know how he got into the Soul realm or wherever he was, but he had the Gauntlet off during that scene and he was only spiritually there. His physical form was still there with Thor, Stormbreaker buried in his chest.

I honestly don't know what exactly happened and how Thanos was with Thor while his spirit was with Gamora and how time and space work during that scene.

I think the conversation happens inside the soul stone therefore it (the stone) is being used. Thanos isn't 'wearing' the gauntlet inside the stone with his spiritual self but his physical body still is wearing the gauntlet and is using the stone. That's what I think, anyway.

The way I saw it was that he didn't use the Soul Stone, Gamora did. The Soul Stone can do some weird stuff to people. So with the snap being as powerful as it was, she knew it happened, & got in his head.

As I said, the Soul Stone can do some weird things.

Yes, I was talking only about his spiritual self not having the Gauntlet on.
