Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

The CGI of his face when he was on Titan was incredible. Jaw-droppingly realistic FX.

The fact that he's not based on a real thing like Caesar puts him like just slightly below him as best CG mocap creation as of late.

I think he looked even more incredible in the scenes on Vormir, especially the one where he is crying and the camera zooms in on his face with the snow and music soaring in the background. Just a breathtaking sequence IMO.

It is indeed a big achievement.

So I guess the question is does Thanos shave his head because it looks like he might. I definitely see a hairline.

I'm so happy they redesigned his look since the Avengers end credit scene and his appearance in GotG/AoU end credit scene. They both look so bad compared to what we ended up getting in this.

They made more human looking. Eyes don’t glow. Skin isn’t some bright shade of purple. And he doesn’t have a goofy grin.

I mean... yes. That’s why I said that. It’s why I provided examples. ;) The eye glow was something I’m really happy they tossed away.

This is the best Thanos we ever could have gotten, he looks much better than comic Thanos.

The earlier designs for Thanos definitely look more comic book accurate.

However, the design in this movie was perfect. He is absolutely an achievement in CGI. The more muted purple skintone, the lack of glowing eyes, and the more human-esque facial structure make the character feel so much more real to me ... Especially considering how they brilliantly wrote the character for this movie.

MCU Thanos is a complete improvement over comic book Thanos. There, I said it. I still can't believe that the Russos and Fiege actually did it. The madmen.

What do you make of the vision thanos has after the snap?

I believe that was him either utilizing the Soul Stone or the Reality Stone to talk to Gamora.

yep. i was one of the people outraged when thanos’ look from avengers 1 was changed.

oh boy, was i wrong. never had so much attachment to a cgi character before. this is god level greatness

I’m going to entertain the idea that Thanos was one of the half erased from existence and the vision is him trapped in the soul stone / a pocket dimension in addition to everyone else that was taken.

Well, to say Thanos delivered is putting it lightly, he was brilliant in every way.

I hated the way his power levels seemed to fluctuate throughout but overall I was generally amazed at what they pulled off.

I bet all those people who made fun of him because he never left his throne are regretting it now.

I agree the scenes with Gamora on the ship were fantastic his facial mannerism were life like

Thanos was magnetic and I could kind of see why anyone would follow him.

I’d say that makes him even better

Not really. What something like a CGI chimp (or real human) has to overcome is the uncanny valley effect. This is the fact that we are familiar with what a real person or chimp looks like.

Thanos is like a very good version of the Hulk but nobody has ever seen real 10' tall purple and green behemoths. So we'll be more forgiving.

It's a bit of a tricky comparison though since most of us have not seen apes and monkeys nearly enough to really have a super grasp of what constitutes natural facial movements for them in the way we do with humans, and while Thanos is something that just doesn't exist he still follows human expressions and movement more than a chimp does.

Someone get that dude a seat. He gets up to all kinds of mischief when he gets up for 2 minutes.

That he was so great in this movie doesn't retroactively make those post cred appearances and what they DIDN'T do with him in GOTG any better though.

eh i think the past thanos teasers and cgi were fine as it is.
they were just teasers and marvel studios was still trying to figure out his look.

i hope they don't go back and retroactively change the cgi like lucas with the star wars OT. lol.

keep it as it is.
