The fact that he's not based on a real thing like Caesar puts him like just slightly below him as best CG mocap creation as of late.
The CGI of his face when he was on Titan was incredible. Jaw-droppingly realistic FX.
They made more human looking. Eyes dont glow. Skin isnt some bright shade of purple. And he doesnt have a goofy grin.
What do you make of the vision thanos has after the snap?
I'm so happy they redesigned his look since the Avengers end credit scene and his appearance in GotG/AoU end credit scene. They both look so bad compared to what we ended up getting in this.

I believe that was him either utilizing the Soul Stone or the Reality Stone to talk to Gamora.
The earlier designs for Thanos definitely look more comic book accurate.
However, the design in this movie was perfect. He is absolutely an achievement in CGI. The more muted purple skintone, the lack of glowing eyes, and the more human-esque facial structure make the character feel so much more real to me ... Especially considering how they brilliantly wrote the character for this movie.
MCU Thanos is a complete improvement over comic book Thanos. There, I said it. I still can't believe that the Russos and Fiege actually did it. The madmen.

Id say that makes him even better
Not really. What something like a CGI chimp (or real human) has to overcome is the uncanny valley effect. This is the fact that we are familiar with what a real person or chimp looks like.
Thanos is like a very good version of the Hulk but nobody has ever seen real 10' tall purple and green behemoths. So we'll be more forgiving.
I bet all those people who made fun of him because he never left his throne are regretting it now.
