IESB: Welling out of the running for JLA Superman

His 1 is more then TW :o

I dont want this to be a routh vs. welling more; my stance isnt pro routh (pro-Duhamel!); it is anti welling. He is a downgrade from Routh who not perfect in just about every way. He looks like a girl and has a teenage face; he dont like a grown man. He's not big enough; he is a famous tv star; not a Hollywood leading. If your going to replace the currect film Superman; you damn better get a famous and respected nam,e; and TW aint that for sure. His acting sucks; his delivery is off and he makes every scene he is in awkward as if hes trying to play a depressed puppy instead of angst teenager. Hearing him trade one liners with a Hollywood heavyweight would be a joke and make you route against Superman. Hed be the Hayden Christensen of the superman franchise; all yall wellingites yes brought it back :D wouldnt be able to show your faces around here. He just sucks; thats my opinion; and if he gets the role; it will be everyones opinion comes summer 2009 ;)
So is this your response to the poll you asked for? You know, "Show me a poll saying people still think he would make a great superman and the argument works?" :yay:

The argument works; but my belief remains. Welling would suck and Routh was well recieved. As for the polls; the public doesnt know who either of them are; so i wonder who it was that voted so much?? the ones I posted were by people who knew what they were voting for.

Ewan McGregor?????????? Hayden Christensen??????????
Make of it what you will. How is rilk's track record?
I don't think the guy who posted that is in the loop. He says a lot of things on the IESB board. (I mean, anything and everything).

Hey, no prob. We all have opinions.

Both polls were one per customer, but if some people voted from multiple computers, that would have worked. Of course, that would apply to everybody, even the guy who was "well received." :yay:

And guys, really, c'mon, Hayden Christensen? Y'all realize that was a joke, right? Even Sanchez pissed himself laughing over that. :p

Hayden was decent in the prequels and I thought shined in "Shattered Glass" :o Was pretty good in "Life as a House" as well.

He did screen test for Superman before if I'm not mistaken btw :o

I think it's safe to say the online community for SV is larger than the SR online community. 7 years on tv with 4-5 million viewers will still have more regulars online than a film that had moderate box success. Look at Buffy for example, a show with a crazy online following not even on the air anymore

Moderate box office success?

Are you talking about Hayden again?

And guys, really, c'mon, Hayden Christensen? Y'all realize that was a joke, right? Even Sanchez pissed himself laughing over that.

It was a joke, but I think the person who said it didn't mean it as a joke.

Personally I think Hayden bad acting was more due to Lucas's script and direction; its not like Hayden was the only one. Portman is great in every role outside of star wars; ditto McGregor; but he was only good in the 3rd.

i agree lucas sux as a directer and writer. but thats a whole nother story

yea he was better with the old star wars films then the prequels.

I don't remember Routh being the lead in a successful TV show working 9-10 months out of the year, and having a family/wife.. yet.

Welling is popular for his look & body than acting. At least Routh doesn't need his look & such to make him popular. You can be popular without looking like a supermodel who can't act. Big deal Routh was never a lead in a tv show. Julia Robers was never a lead on a tv show when she starter her career & look how that turn out. Just because you're not a lead on a tv show don't mean you have no popularity. Also, Hillary Swank was fired when she try out for Beverly Hill 90210 & she is a two-time Oscars winner.

And Routh is getting married this Nov. in case you don't know. So much for bringing up the wife thing. Also, you brought up family. I thought Welling don't have kids. Just a wife. ;)

It's too bad (or not?) Routh's only doing indie films, you'd think he'd want the actual public to see him in the roles, but I guess not.

Nothing wrong with doing indie films. Lot of 'em are very good & make people become good actors if they keep on working on those films. Guess Welling never done indie films, since he is a wooden actor. Oh well. ;)

And who said he is doing just indie films? He can do big films & indie films.
How come Welling's movie "The Fog" is a bomb? So much for Welling is so popular. He could have made "The Fog" reach $100 millions at the box office if he was popular with the.....majority.

Took him two years to get another role

And has Tom done any film since "Cheaper by the Dozen 2"? Wasn't that 2 or 3 yrs. ago.??

Didn't take Hugh Jackman that long Didn't take Tobey thhat long. Yes i never liked him, and yes his acting was ok at best.

LOL! I love how you put Tobey right up with Hugh. Dude, Tobey been doing films for years before he was even Spider-Man. Weak comparsion there. And Hugh didn't have another film release a year after. Not every big stars will have more movies a year after their first big movie.

Mind you blind singer follower, I am an SV fan, yes the show has many faults and is an elseworld interpretation in my book.

SR is also an Elseworld tale too. And blind Singer follower? Nice to know you're quite the same with being a biased Singer hater or at least Wellingite. Not to mention you call Routh a kid, when you're a kid compare to him in age & size.

But I am a superman fan who believes the movies should adhere to the comics than some stupid directors ego. When last did you even pick up a superman book?

Isn't SR quite like the comics? Superman's costume look like the comics with some minor change, Daily Planet is still in Metropolis, etc. And Singer got an ego? Can you give me some link to back it up?

And last time I pick up a Superman comic book was last week. I also got hundred of Superman comics at home in my room here. ;)

One last thing: how are you sure Routh won't be doing another blockbusters? What are you going to do if he does? Deny it? At least Routh got one movie that made more than Welling's films combined. The Fog only, since he was the lead & Cheaper By The Dozens films was Steve Martin's films. Thus, Routh win in term of box office money.

Yes, Routh has to earn his way before being offered movies like 'The Fog' and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2'.

Routh reminds me of Christian Bale. He's only making film that he's interested in whether they are big or not.

How do you know he hasn't been offered that? I'm glad he's not making crappy movies. I will take a respectable indie movie over a Hollywood crapfest anyday of the week. :cwink:

Smallville/Superman Returns fans need to shut up about who is better, or which show/movie did well, or if Welling/Routh is a better Superman...

FACT: Superman Returns made $200 million, Routh was very well received as the Man of Steel, which hopefully would get a sequel one day..

FACT: Tom Welling played Clark Kent in 7 seasons on Smallville, made WB millions of $$$$$, single handily keeping CW in business, and helped the media to care about DC characters....

I had heard that Routh was offered a part in a cheesy horror movie (think House of Wax) but he turned it down. Like stated before he does remind me of Christian Bale in terms of the roles he chooses heck his Informers role is a lot like Christians American Psycho role (Bateman) in fact Bret Easton Ellis is the author of both The Informers and American Psycho.
