The Dark Knight If Nolan left....who would you want as a replacement?

Thank you mod-who-changed-the-thread-title. :o

I agree with the Michael Mann choice. He studies to make his movies more realistic which would be similar to Nolan. Dare I say it, his might be even better.

Yeah, although itd probably be brown:o
Singer: "I like brown. I think bats look good in brown."

I can't see Mann ever being interested in this type of material, though.

He worked well with Miller as co-director in Sin City.

But by himself - he's not so good. That's why I said not without Frank Miller.

Still.. I saw some clips of Sin City.. it looks more like a comic book. If they can take all thats needed for batman and leave what isnt, that could work.

Many of those types are low on character attention though. John Mctiernan is cool, but Nolan can do what he does AND a character story.

Sam Raimi would do a good job, too. Although it would have a different feel from Nolan's Batman.

Raimi probably could pull off what Schumacher was doing but better.

Oh, definitely Sin City is a "moving Comic", but are we discussing replacing Nolan with a clone of Nolan?

Or is the discussion about finding a good replacement that brings something to the material.

If we're talking about finding a director similar to Nolan - I would say Fincher or Mann.

If we're talking a whole new replacement with a new vision: I'd like Miller, Miller/Rodriguez, or Raimi.

Depends on whether you want to continue the look and feel of Nolan's Batman or not.

I think you're right. Although I think he can do it not only better than Schummacher (much much better), but he wouldn't overload the cheese.

Singer did a great job with Supes - but I wouldnt want him for a Batman film...Batman v. Superman though would be fine with a good writer (Jeph Loeb).

Meh, donner did all the work, though I felt like I was watching a batman movie while watching Superman's new movie. So I figure he might work better with darker more introspective heros like bats. Though I'm completely against the idea of batman having children. Wtf were they thinking in the comics?:(

Hey! George Lucas!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-probably the most predictable reply ever- ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Darren Aronofsky would be my second choice under David Fincher. While his Y1 script really wasn't faithful to Batman, I think if he carries on Nolan's torch and has someone else write the script with knowledge of the character, he could make a really great film.

The trailer for 'The Fountain' shows me he has a very ideal stylistic vision, one that I feel is lacking from Nolan.

Oh please none of those choices. Miller seems incapable of producing any good work in recent years, especially with Batman, Rodriguez is a hack, and Raimi is one of the most overrated directors around (sure, he's decent for what he does, which is pretty entertaining popcorn flicks, but is hardly a master of his art).

I'd go with Darren Aronofsky.

lol George Lucas would make Batman and Robin 2 ;)

Or at least Forever.

LOL. I was joking. You won't find another person who despises Lucas more than me. Believe me.

The theory of Lucas Ignoring Critics:

hard headed Lucas + weak films + make a trend out of it = $$$$$$

Only things Lucas is directing nowadays are Ballpark Franks to his nether region.

I'd Hire Bryan Singer.
Remake Batman 89 but only have Jack Napier as the villain, no Joker and pretty much fill the rest with kitchen sink romance between Bruce and Vicki Vale. And give Batman a 5 year old son.
