The Dark Knight If Nolan left....who would you want as a replacement?

Oh please none of those choices. Miller seems incapable of producing any good work in recent years, especially with Batman, Rodriguez is a hack, and Raimi is one of the most overrated directors around (sure, he's decent for what he does, which is pretty entertaining popcorn flicks, but is hardly a master of his art).

I'd go with Darren Aronofsky.

I can't argue with you about Rodriguez and Miller. Sin City is the only movie I "sorta" like of his - and that was mostly Miller's vision. Miller hasn't really directed an entire movie by himself.

But Raimi is capable. There's no argument there. Of course his take on Batman wouldn't be like Nolan's. But he could do a kick ass job. And I think he's underrated. People think he's only good at making Spidey movies. But check out "A Simple Plan". Awesome.

But you have every right to your opinion :)

I'd Hire Bryan Singer.
Remake Batman 89 but only have Jack Napier as the villain, no Joker and pretty much fill the rest with kitchen sink romance between Bruce and Vicki Vale. And give Batman a 5 year old son.

Funny 5 year old son

Not

The Orignal Trilogy weren't weak. But that's another thread.

Yeah. And I also don't think SIN CITY was a particularly great film, anyhow. It gets adored by fanboys for its style - which admittedly was sometimes cool, though nothing astounding - but aside from that, I don't think there's much remarkable about it. I even find some aspects, like many of the performances, atrocious.

Add into that equation that Miller has produced both THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN and ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN and I don't think he should be let near Batman ever again.

I guess I don't particularly like how he handled Spider-man all that much. I though the first film was intensely mediocre, and while the second was pretty good, at the end of the day, it was just a popcorn film. I'm also not a big fan of camp and cheese, and Raimi has no problem shoveling that into his films.

I've seen A SIMPLE PLAN. It's pretty good. Nothing incredible or intensely remarkable, but it's okay.

Frank Miller would be great hell he was the reason why he turned Batman into The Dark Knight.

Iamthe - no, Neil Adams and Danny O'Neil played just as big a role.

Frank Miller always was an alomst extremist Dark Batman.

Everyone knows Batman's son is at least 12. :o

Have you ever heard of a man who goes by the name Dennis O'Neil? If not, you might wanna look into it. :o

Mann for the right price. He did it with Ali and Will Smith, it wouldn't shock me if WB "showed him the money".

Fincher is another obvious one, again with the right price.

Carnahan is another good choice. Probably the best fit too, because he is still an emerging director. I read his MI3 proposal and it kicked all sorts of arse. :)

I have as much interest in Singer as gargling a toilet full of vomit.

But Lucas only directed one of those three movies. And the movie where he had the least involvement in (ESB) is arguably the best.

And yeah, this is completely off-topic. :o

Quite. I give Adams and O'Neil far more due than Miller.

And whatever status Miller gained as a Batman legend with YEAR ONE and THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, he has since destroyed it with ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN and THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN.

Here's why I'd like David Fincher to take over for Nolan if Nolan gets too tired of helming "Batman" movies:

-Fincher could give us a really hard PG-13 movie that could be close to an R.

-Fincher understands how to make a good detective story and the dynamics that go into it.

-Fincher could take Batman to a whole new level. He could mix Frank Miller-type stuff, Alan Moore, and put his spin on Bruce Wayne/Batman as well.

-The villains in my mind I could see him making 10x creepier than anything we've ever seen in the comic books or could ever imagine onscreen. He could turn someone like The Riddler into a John Doe-like guy and just run with it or take the Mad Hatter and take people's ideas of having him be a child molestor and just run with it as well.

Yeah I forgot Carnahan. Doesn't change the fact that this thread sucks.

Sweet avvy, btw. If only we Batman fans could be so lucky...

V for Vendetta is one of my favorite movies of all time and IMO the best movie of 2006 so far - I think James McTiege directing a Bat movie would be a great move.

PETER JACKSON WOULD MAKE A SERIOUS EPIC PHUCKING BATMAN FLICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem with Jackson as I have with Spielberg. Both are excellent film makers, BUT they both have this annoying habit of sticking elements into the movie that "wink" at the audience to remind us that we're watching a Jackson/Spielberg movie. And a lot of the time - these little winks are out of place and screw up the consistency of the movie.

George Lucas does this, too. But he's not really a good director.

Who had to bring up Lucas?

Peace. I'm just saying that the original Trilogy is great and still dear to me. But I've lost complete faith in George Lucas because of the new Trilogy.

I brought up George Lucas jokingly (see my post right after the original post). Hell no he shouldn't direct a Batman movie. Unless you want Batman to turn into a whining brat. LOL

What about Ridley Scott? I think the guy that brought us Bladerunner could pull of a pretty serious Batman - and a vivid Gotham.

LOL. The acting WAS atrocious. I can't argue with that. I've only seen Sin City on my PSP. The visuals look good on the tiny screen, but probably not so hot on the large screen.

A Simple Plan gets better with subsequent viewings. There's a lot of subtle character ticks that you don't catch the first time that hints at their final actions.

Sin City got quite good reviews, and well as a strong public reaction. Don't think the only people who like it are fanboys.
