The Amazing Spider-Man If Venom is used again, this is how he should look!

I agree about Erik Larsen's Venom.
You want to see Ultimate Venom?

I want to see Bagley's 616 Venom more, but I really do like Ultimate Venom's design. Probably because (even if it doesn't make sense in the continuity) it looks more alien than 616 Venom does.

Agreed. Though, in S-M3, we got a combinaiton of Todd Macfrlane's Venom and JRJR's Venom, so I'm satisfied.

I concur. The biggest gripe I had was a lack of Venom face-time, so we really didn't get enough time to see their work. It's honestly a shame, since I thought the face in particular was a lot better than many of the designs used for the film's merchandising like the action figures and such.

I think the Ultimate Venom design works relatively well for the characterization of Ultimate Venom (who is more animalistic and talks less), and it's one of a few times the protruding tongue actually works. That said, I prefer the traditional characterization of Venom as a wise-cracking sadist.

For me, Venom looked best when he didn't have the tongue or drool, just a creepy, inhuman grin of sharp teeth as drawn by Todd McFarlane in the character's inception.

Simple, but effective and scary.
Not including the protruding tongue or drool on Spider-Man 3's Venom was definitely a wise choice by Raimi and company, and something they definitely got right.
The tongue is rather dated, and makes the character look silly in this day and age. It may have worked in the 1990s, but now it looks ridiculous.

Well I dig that tongue and don't think it's silly or dated. It just needs to be handled properly and it could be very creepy. If it's done in a sci-fi channel movie of the week way then yeah it'll look horrid. LoL.

But yeah I love the Mcfarlane venom too. Something stylized like that could work just as well.

For me, the tongue gives off the wrong impression about the character. It used to make me think of the character as animalistic, something which he generally isn't. It just doesn't fit the character's personality, and now I just see as silly, since it looks like Eddie's sticking his tongue out constantly. I really don't see it's purpose.

For me the tongue works in that it seems to make the character appear a bit more alien.....which is true to the symbiote origin.

And Venom's tongue looks nothing like the Xenomorph's tongue. Too me, the protruding tongue distracted from the original design's simplicity. On the face, you had two blank lenses and a ****-eating grin full of sharp teeth. Much scarier than the protruding tongue, in my opinion.

^ Agreed.
Handled properly the tongue could be awesome.
But if they use it, it's got to look like this:

:woot:
No but seriously, I am pro-tongue.

I personally disagree. This:

looks much scarier than this:

If they go with the 616 Version of Venom, I would like to have Tom Hardy playing Venom, he is menacing and a good actor.

If they go with an Ultimate Version of Venom, I would like to have a skinny guy, like Anton Yelchin, Robert Pattinson ( I think he is a good actor, but we have not seen him act so well, David Cronenburg said he is "terrific"), Daniel Radcliffe, Carminie Giovanzzio. I dunno for Ultimate, I like Skinny Eddie Brock better (weird IKR) and the fact he is connected to Peter Parker, makes it more personal.

I didn't say it looks like a Xenomorph tongue per say, but the basic alien tongue concept was popularized in the Alien flicks. Just a little connection. Sorta like the tongue is a character all it's own. Anyway, the character can be made scary with or without the tongue....I simply prefer the tongue look for the character.

Personally, I have no idea why the protruding tongue has so strongly become associated with the character. It never really fit him to me, and it detracted from the character's menace.

I think he should only show tounge at certain times in the movie. It definitely shouldn't be out at all times but at certain times it could be quite effective.

Agreed. I would say that the tongue should protrude only when it would actually make sense for him to stick his tongue out.

Since we're talking about "our" versions of Venom, this is my ideal Venom. Perfecto!

Mine might be mix between the McFarlane and Bagley versions. Pretty much the McFarlane Venom face, with the Bagley Venom's muscle definition.

My favorite part of Bagley's Venom is his teeth. They're perfect. Sharp, scary, not crooked and stupid, and not covered in drool. Perfection.

Agreed. Combine the Bagley Venom's teeth with the rest of the McFarlane Venom's face, and a body with the Bagley Venom's muscle definition, and you would have an awesome Venom.

So you want Bagley Venom but with McFarlane Venom's eyes?

Yes. I liked the Black Spider-Man eyes that McFarlane drew on Venom to the corrupted eyes Larsen gave him. I think normal eyes work better for the sleek aesthetic I'm going for with Venom.
