If you laughed at the crying then you probably....

The crying at the end was really well done. Anyone who laughed when Harry died or Peter finally put Uncle Ben and his vengence to rest needs to grow the **** up.

Now on the bridge...I think his initial face was too over the top but the following moments worked and on a repeat viewing it didn't bug me at all. The word for complaints about this is nitpicking. I have my problems with this movie but this is not one of them. In fact the movie is better not to be overlyscrutinized and analyzed in pain-inducing detail.

But these forums will never let that go, eh? ;)

Thankfully no one laugh at the emotional scenes the two times I saw the flick. I honestly fear that during my second screening that there would be some or an idiot laughing, especially reading how some posters here either laugh at the screen themselves or otherwise, but no one did and again thankfully.

Can you say immaturity? I recently lost someone close to me and I found this movie to be strong. Perhaps it's because I'm still at a point where I can relate to these emotions. Maybe the crying on the bridge was a little much, but I understood it and felt bad for Peter. The crying with Harry at the end I really felt was good, especially when Peter says that Harry's going to be ok, and Harry says no, and Peter and MJ exchange glances, I personally thought that was great, but that could be because of recent personal experiences.
In my opinion, if you're not going to take a movie seriously, then you aren't going to like it. At least TRY to put yourself in the character's frame of mind. And if you can't do that, then.... immaturity at it's most obvious. This movie will be appreciated by a more mature audience than the other two, and a less experienced, younger audience just won't get it.

Everyone's lost someone close to them, I know I have. However, that has nothing to do with an actor acting poorly and making a serious scene laughable.

I kind of could relate to when MJ was breaking up with Peter because I did the same thing when I wanted to break up with my girl......................................................but I rekindled the romance because I could not resist not having booty.

emo = people who act depressed (give the rest of us who really are depressed a bad name) just for the attention. Oh and all the gay mankissing trendy stuff

People laughed. They just did. They laughed when I went to see it at a late showing, they laughed when I went at a noon showing. My company even sponsored a showing of it last night, and employees I work with laughed. I think it's the way Maguire does his scenes, and the fact that so many people cried in the film. It just didn't provide that emotion neccessary...not everyone is as involved in these flicks as we are.

This pretty much sums it up perfectly.

basically, the reason I felt peter's pain is becuase think about it, think back to all the **** peter went out of his way to save her ass. I realise she was being forced but in his eyes I would feel so much pain after that. catchin kids while simultaniously catching her and holdin up big ass warehouse walls for her ungrateful ass. I felt sooooo much satisfaction when he finally goes to harry after that and whips his ***** snowboarder ass.

I thought the scenes where Peter cried or choked up, wether it was the scene at the police-station, the scene where MJ brakes up with him, or the scene in the coffee-shop where as Harry with that cold look in his eye, tells Peter that he's the guy MJ has fallen completely for, was all so incredibly well acted, especially from Tobey! Not to mention one of the final scenes where they have their last words with Harry right before he passes on! The tears, the exchange of words, the music, and the sunrise in the background was all so incredibly moving!!!

The point is guys! It's NOT what's happening which is what some people are laughing at... It's Tobey! And NOT because he acts it out badly, cause he's so believable when breaking up in tears. It's just the way he LOOKS in those scenes. There is something guite funny over his facial expressions when he looks sad, mostly his underlip vibrating like crazy in the scene with Harry dying.

I'm not laughing in those scenes, cause I was near breaking a tear my self in that moment, and I was definitly choking up big-time! It works very effectively. But I DO see what some people (a lot) find funny though.

i lost many people in death, and i laughed at the crying cause THE ACTING WAS BAD...but i blame Raimi for setting up Tobey to look like an idiot...

the least bit hysterical?

....never had someone close to you die, or had someone you truely loved.

My mother died of cancer 7 years ago, and I cried alot, so I guess that makes me emo. I choked up when I was saying my wedding vows to my wife. I cried when my children were born, so I guess that makes me emo too.

I actually feel bad for people who don't get the crying scenes, because when you are touched personally by a tragedy (and it's enevitable that we all will face it at one time or another), you will probably be totally unprepared for the grief you face.

You can make up words like "emo" to make you feel cool, but when tragedy strikes, it will hit you like a knife through the heart.

I wholeheartedly agree. My grandfather died five years ago on May 4. He died of brain cancer. I didn't see him often (Since he lives in Wales and I live in England) however, what I didn't see of him I sure heard of - he was on the phone for hours to my dad (typical Welshman, my dad said) and still now, my dad expects him to ring after a rugby match.

Anyone who laughs at such things won't understand until it happens to them.

Honnestly, I dont... I can understand that some people think the vibrating lip can generate a small laugh, but it's far from hilarious! That scene was very emotinal to me...and despite what ever funny facials Tobey can launch, he still pulls it off.

Nobody laughed when Will Smith's character cried because he couldn't take good care of his son.

People laugh when crying is forced or cheesy.
it was already time that we agree on something.
i agree 100% :yay:

If you thought that was bad acting (which it wasn't!), than you haven't SEEN bad acting!:o But I agree on the fact that Sam made him look guite dumb.

You know, I don't. Actually, I can't think of any reason whatsoever why someone would find this funny.

The scene on the bridge, ok, maybe it came too suddenly, maybe it was a little over-acted. I don't agree with any of the above, but I can understand how somebody not in the right mood would think that. But the scene above, no, not funny at all.

I guess I'm just an evil person then. :cwink:

"Sooo Goood..." - Carnage-Cometh

It wasn't that the acting was bad, it was the idea of Peter crying over MJ was too melodramatic. She was with another guy for the duration of SM2 and all Peter did was look forlorn (a much better response to that kind of situation as well, imho). Not to mention he was in full self-centered dick mode by that time in the movie that the bridge scene takes place. So it comes as a completely out of character shock. Crying over Uncle Ben? Sweet. Crying over Harry? Totally sweet. Crying because MJ's breaking up with you? Get yourself together man, what have you been dating her for 5 seconds?!!

That's why people laughed at the bridge. If they laughed at Harry dying, don't know, can't really excuse that, probably emotionally insecure.

The crying scenes were so bad that they made me uncomfortable. When I'm uncomfortable, I laugh. I don't know why, but I just do. Those crying scenes were pretty cheesey. If Peter didn't cry and just looked sad, then it may have been better. But he did cry and Tobey's facial expressions were funny.
