They made Jean so damn creepy that it will add some fright to the Phoenix glimpses in X1 & X2. Everybody I know that saw the film raved about Famke and the film in general. The Rat did good!

I agree. holy smokies. u know the scene near the end when logan is moving towards...everytime he gets closer, she moves closer to him like she's gonna take a bite out of him or something. lol.

Other than that, I liked it. And when he stabs her, and it cuts to her ... screaming? in pain... well man ouch... and then she has that look on her face of redemption or maybe its her way of thanking him b/c she knew he would do it for her and then she died as Jean Grey- true x-woman of the X-Men.


She'll rise again though.

It has a lot of general movie goer support! my co-workers told me they loved it! and more are going to see it for the first time this weekend...mind u i work in one of the busiest airports in the country and know a lot of people there..so far the ones who have seen it loved it...and said it felt more like x-men(from some comic/cartoon fans)

Box office is a direct result of advertising and ability to mobilize people before the movie comes out, in addition getting a good premiere date, not the quality of the film. By that logic Episode 1 of Star Wars should not have grossed more than Episode III (general consensus being that was the better film) and films like Mystic River, Rainman, Memento and for comics Sin City, Batman Begins and Superman should be the highest on the list. Unfortunately this is never the case. All of my friends, let me repeat that ALL 25 OF THE PEOPLE I TOOK TO X3 hated it, and everyone who I know who has seen it either though it was poor or bad. Those people contibuted to the weekend gross, and all of them are college students. General consensus if you look on IMDb (which had seven straight pages of bad reviews) and Rottentomatoes (53%) was this was a bad but tolerable film (for most). However if you can get people in the seats that point really does not matter, you can make a horrible film and so long as you can make people want to watch it before it comes out you make money.

I had 4 in mine, I sent out a joint e-mail (on our college board) to about 20 people, a bunch dropped out but a bunch brought friends. I'd say maybe 6 or seven cars showed up, but thats just a guess.

They would know RT for sure, but they were not Superhero fans, and consensus is built largely from those places. If you have 7 pages of bad reviews you probably vocalized enough people to write bad reviews about your film, something you won't find on say Sin City or Pulp Fictions page. Sure every movie has it's haters, but this movie has more than would be associated with a "good" film.

To understand the box office, you can really look at the market. A film like Spider-Man (while quiet good) made its bucks because even before it came out Spider-Man was a household name without a major film treatment, plus he hit the market at a good time. Spider-Man two, the follow up, made money because everyone who saw Spider-Man 1 (and liked it--which was large audience) said hey lets go again.

Here we have a very same (even more so) circumstance. If we adjust for inflation actually X2 made about the same (I think more) in 4 days, plus it had a cliffhanger we know there is a sequal ending. People even left this film perplexed by Nightcrawler and Singer's abscence, so to them they were on board even before X3 was announced. Plus, people like myself, hardcore Xfans, they realized would bring friends, roomates and family members to see this film. Heck I always used to see Marvel movies twice. Once with friends, once with family. And that, not quality, is how they make their money.

People even left this film perplexed by Nightcrawler and Singer's abscence, so to them they were on board even before X3 was announced.

Again...there are plenty of people who didn't even know the directors switched. And plenty who saw mediocre reviews and said "Who cares? I liked the first two."

Plus, people like myself, hardcore Xfans, they realized would bring friends, roomates and family members to see this film. Heck I always used to see Marvel movies twice. Once with friends, once with family. And that, not quality, is how they make their money.

Of course, which is why the opening weekend is so important. No word of mouth yet, so everyone goes. And it will probably have a drop next weekend, now that the first rush is over.

But the movie did exceed expectations financially this weekend, so at this point whatever it drops this weekend won't have a devastating effect on the movie.

There were no reviews out before the release and only a very selected few had seen the movie?

Were you in a coma for the last couple weeks by any chance?

Either way, I'm sure you predicted it would be a great movie and hence inviting 25 people to see it was a great idea, sorry it didn't work out for ya!!

Not at all, I was very hesitant about it, but it was the last week school. I want to hang out with my friends and be social before exams. I had not really read any reviews until after it came out, in fact I was well aware of the films plot, however I had no idea what it would look like. Did I have some excitement about it, yes. I saw it by myself today.

My sister's wedding was on Saturday, so my dad and I had escaped for a few hours on Friday to catch the movie, which was under fairly stressful conditions since we were in the midst of wedding plans.

I had an extra vacation day today, my air conditioner is busted, so I decided to sneak off and see the movie this afternoon. Where the air conditioning is working.

And I had a lovely time. Especially since tomorrow I'll be back at work.

X3's IMDB rating is good but fans are overlooking the comments section. Movie fans can leave their own review. The "Best" ones are listed in order and randomly inserted on to the movies main page. One is featured at all times. The "Best" is determined by a vote under each review/comment. "Was the above comment useful to you?" Yes or No. Far too many negative comments have been voted as useful. It's not right that a few bashers voting multiple times get to rule that page.

X3 supporters should get over to IMDB and vote for the positive reviews and write one of their own. You can search for comments by those who "Loved It" and then vote "Yes" for them.

Key problem here: You're advocating inequity to bring about equity. By encouraging fans to skew the vote that you think is being skewed you only skew it more so. Thats like saying not enough people are voting democrat because not enough people who would vote democrat are voting. However really if those people aren't voting its a failure on the movie's part not the fans. If they really liked the movie they would have voted in droves much in the same way.
