I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

Not related, but @Drizzle I'm loving the new avi and title :hehe:

Who else is seeing SUPERMAN in two days? I cant believe its almost here. The internet’s gonna be funnnnn this week.
I'll be there. If it weren't for the sneak preview screenings I might have waited until Saturday for a matinee but I couldn't resist. I'm also kind of locked into going on Tuesday anyway because I accidentally printed my ticket out at the theater the other day when I went to see Jurassic World. :o

No offense taken my friend.

I love the crane scene for the music and the fact that it was the crane operators, including the guy whose kid he saved earlier getting in on the act. Plus he was just shot and he’s fighting through the pain. It was his hero moment to me.

The chocolate milk scene I actually like because honestly it’s probably the kind of weirdly pathetic origin story that I would have if I were a superhero.
I prefer TASM simply because Andrew is the only Peter Parker I’ve ever felt emotionally connected to. I can’t stand Tobey Maguire - he’s always given me bad vibes, and that extends to his performance in Raimi’s movies. Dunst never felt like MJ to me either. Plus Andrew’s chemistry with Emma is unmatched, and I prefer Marc Webb’s directing style. I usually love camp but Raimi’s style of camp just ain’t my vibe, with the exception of Army of Darkness.

That said, my favorite Spider-man movies are the Spider-Verse movies.

I forgot this was doing showings Tuesday lol! Oh well, I don't have the Prime Showings option, so Thursday night will be fine.

I’m sorry. I may agree with most of your all’s points, but I’m a forever contrarian on this issue and TASM is my favorite Spidey film because:
1. It has a legit great actor in the lead role;
2. Spidey actually makes jokes when fighting bad guys;
3. Gwen Stacey is the love interest, not MJ;
4. Emma Stone was perfect casting and her chemistry with Garfield was off the charts; and
5. Call me crazy, but the crane scene gets me emotional every time.
You forgot to mention James Horner's pitch perfect music, which frankly is better than the movie deserves. He didn't even much care for the film, and yet somehow gifted us one of the best superhero scores in the history of the genre.

There's also this remark he made about his time with the franchise, which lives rent free in my head:

To me, the whole thing about doing the movie was I liked the director and there was a chance to write something for the two lead characters and then she dies in the next movie. But the next movie ended up being so terrible, I didn't want to do it. It was just dreadful.

My prediction, for the MOST part this will be well reviewed. But Gunn’s geeky comic booky style is gonna really rub some critics the wrong way i think. I think we’re gonna see a decent number of hyperbolically bad reviews but overall the reception will lean positive.
