Matt has essentially a little over a month to have a final draft. That gives 6 months (probably less, it is a sequel with multiple main cast members returning) to get casting and other pre-production necessities done, 6ish months to film and probably the better part of 2026 for post-production.

As some have said, it's if there's still no script at the start of 2025 where I'm gonna start getting concerned. Seeing as there were reports that Matt had "finished" the script, it's possible that came from Matt finishing the script in terms of writing to the end and we're now in redrafting phase. There's still time

They're clearly forcing Reeves to water down his Batman to fit Gunn's colorful clownery.



No, seriously, it's cool to see some concrete movement on the film. And it's nice to have Fraser back.
Also, this episode reminds us that although Gunn likes to stress that no film goes into production until the script is finished and that Reeves' isn't, ultimately this Batman Part II isn't completely under his control (it was greenlight befor his promotion after all). Although Reeves is still fine-tuning, the professionals are beginning to be hired. That's good.

I'm happy and ready for other news than "we're finishing the script".

Here's the thing, right now DC as a brand needs some positivity and the batman, even though it's not part of the universe, to the general public is.
So movement on this is good news.

From a marketing point of view, it's likely all hands on deck for superman so I could see them wanting to space out batman news to sometime in the early part of next year with casting. Then you will have some successive wins between the superman trailer, start of production for Supergirl and maybe a first look at her costume, batman update and green lantern starting production.

Those are all good things for the brand.

Kravitz: And more of these shows? Everyone’s freaking out over “The Penguin.”

Reeves: Yeah, we’re talking to [showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] about doing another season. That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate. These characters don’t belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal.

Kravitz: I think that’s why the marriage between you and Batman right now is such an incredible combination. You have this skill at working with heightened ideas. They all feel so human and so grounded. And it’s a very difficult thing to do.

I am hoping OZ is the main villain with the court of owls behind him pushing other corruptions into the light. It would be great if the Court of owls were responsible for Joker's creation
and the Riddler's (real) motivations...

I thought of that for a while...If oz is treated like Tony Soprano, and Paulie (Riddler) and Silvio (Joker) it could be interesting. Maybe REEVES joker isn't some psychopath like NOLAN's but more in tune with a firmer agenda. More grounded, yet with jokes, gags, and a murderous intellect. More importantly, it is the court of owls pulling down the curtains as these top tier villains distract what is really coming down the pike so to speak.

When you watch his interviews and how he speaks about batman, I feel like he does have a handle on the character and I could see why if Gunn is trying to set up a DCU batman it's not exactly easy.

I would be shocked if Matt hasn't asked Zoe about being involved in a Catwoman spinoff in some capacity or even for ideas.

Jeff Sneider has heard that there’s conflict between James Gunn and Matt Reeves. Gunn wants Robert Pattinson to join the DCU (Pattinson is apparently interested) but Reeves has so far refused to sign off on that.

Reeves may be given a contract adjustment that gives him more say on how the Batman characters are used in the DCU.
