That's not the reason it's been taking so long . Matt Reeves has already said that he has been slow at writing the script, and has also hinted at going through some personal stuff.

Just be patient, and let the man cook.

I am curious...how is an old film based on a character written by Robert Louis Stevenson correlate to Two Face being revealed?

Sometimes, Max seems to upload films and documentaries that are inspirations for upcoming films they have a contract with. It’s a small observation I’ve made, though don’t take it too seriously.

For example, I believe Se7en and Zodiac were available at some point during the production/pre production of The Batman.

The 1931 film was the major influence for Two-Face’s character. So, that along with other small details surrounding the saga strengthens my belief that he going to be revealed. It would be cool to me if that’s the case.

To be honest, that was expected with the news about the script needing more time and the push to late 2027.

Agreed. I also imagine scheduling these actors is the biggest issue.

Most movies are a mess behind the scenes. Just going by the evidence in front of us, Reeves has been saying the script is being finalized for 5 months now based on his September interviews. There has been information that stated they were looking to film late summer. Now it's the end of the year. You have to book actors well in advance so to not have concrete info definitely sounds like a mess.

Personally, now that the release is late 2027, they could film this thing in mid to late 2026 and still have enough time for it's release. Superman only finished filming sometime in August 2024 for a July 2025 release date.

The reality is, until we get confirmation from gunn or reeves that the script is done, this will cause panic in fans.

That is an interesting observation. Albeit a strange one. Any rogue from the gallery would be welcoming. I'm guessing since the villain will be a "surprise" so to speak, I'd venture to say it is most likely someone we have not seen yet in live action.

Yeah, there’s only been a few times where a director has listed films that inspired their work and then I found them to be newly available to watch. Could just be coincidence though.

As for the surprise main villain for the next film, I would love to see Hatter, though I feel the story of Two-Face will play a huge part.

TB2 will explore the depth of the corruption in Gotham, the unrest in the city from the aftermath of Riddler’s flood, Bruce’s struggle with being Batman after having his perspective challenged and the grey area of crime and justice. It won’t be as simple as good guy vs bad guy this time. It’s going to be interesting to see which villain ties into that.

I just watched the clip and he does not say it like you are presenting. His reasoning for saying “The Batman 2, what a mess that is” is based on the fact apparently they swore it would be shooting in May and Pattinson is now saying end of year. Which, I don’t know where he got that from considering James Gunn has never even said they have a finished script and the earliest Reeves’ has hinted for filming is mid-year. Plus, he said it because the end of 2025 is two year's away from the release date. But I don’t think an 18-24 month window for filming + post is that uncommon for these big blockbusters.

It wasn’t like Sneider was reporting from a source who’d told him the way they’re working currently is a mess.

If I had to take a guess, I'm sure his role in the Batman takes priority over other films contractually. He was likely notified that the Batman sequel wasn't filming until later in the year which opened up his schedule to film Nolan's movie.
