I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Oh. Yep. Deleted.

Little *******.

Cold-blooded to fake GOAT casting and put it out into the universe like that.

the image was fake but Matt did in fact tweet sth and deleted immediately

Hugo Weaving (or Sean Harris) as Strange would be glorious

It would be cool if Matt changes up how he reveals the new characters this time around. Like, maybe create a cinematic short of the actor and reveal the character they’re playing at the end of it.

lol okay, let’s not get greedy.

Now that we’ve reached this moment where we’re actively getting faked out by casting, I do actually kind of wonder how much new blood we’re in for in the sequel.

It felt like we were given so much more in The Batman than I ever believed we would get going in (Catwoman and Riddler AND Penguin AND Falcone AND A JOKER APPEARANCE), that I wonder if Reeves is going to keep that up by introducing a number of new characters to the fray.

I'm genuinely betting that we'll have at least 2 new villains in the sequel, Reeves has said he wants to create a rogues gallery.

This is, among other reasons, is why The Batman is so rewatchable; there’s so many characters in the mix. I’m really hoping the sequel follows suit.

And I keep forgetting Joker was there. I wonder if he’ll figure in to things?

I’m hoping for a new love interest (if Catwoman doesn’t return), some new GCPD, and two villains (a mob guy or someone in the mix with Oz, and a heavy to fight Batman)

I've actually had this nagging feeling that we won't see Joker again.

Nah. He’ll have a huge role. I don’t think the sequel hooks in The Batman are remotely subtle and that’s one of them.
Given how long it’ll take for us to get Part II, I don’t know that we should be holding anything off for the third film, but my thought was to progressively build Joker up through the trilogy.

Just a little trickle in the first film (between the ending and the deleted scene), a little bit larger/maybe Oz-level presence in Part II and then he really explodes in Part III, in (IMO) something that’s quite a bit like Morrison’s Arkham Asylum.

Yeah, my personal theory is there’s a big Arkham sub plot in II that sets up Joker as the overall big bad of the series in 3. I really do want this to be pretty stand alone or conclusive though.

Wait is that Adam West...I KNOW THE VILLAIN!

I'd be surprised. Reeves has already created a whole origin story for him and teased that we'll eventually see him adopt the "Joker" persona, and of course his scene with the Riddler. But I can see a scenario where he's not the main villain in any film in the trilogy, kind of like how Loeb used Joker in The Long Halloween/Dark Victory.

I want him as a thorn in Batman's side and don't even mind him never being the "main" villain.

I do think he'll have an Oz-like role in Part II as far as runtime goes. Not an overpowering amount of screen time, but just enough to feel his presence weighing on Batman's psyche.
