I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

To not get a Catwoman project out of this universe would be criminal, regardless whether there's a Pt. III or not.

I'm avoiding Superman reviews like the plague but from what little quotes/sound-bites I've seen online, it seems pretty apparent that dropping Pattinson into this universe would be bonkers. Unfortunate, yes, but I'm a maximalist--more is more, so bring on a DCU Batman.

Which then leads me to believe that Robin (any iteration) should be left for the DCU.
Funny thing is, I could picture Battinson fitting into the DCU perfectly. Like, now that I’ve seen David’s Superman in action, imagining him and Battinson interacting is so damn easy and wonderful…but nothing about the DCU fits into Reeves’ world at all, and I would never want Reeves to compromise what he’s building in any way. So my preference would absolutely be that Pattinson be DCU’s Batman AND continue his stuff in Reeves’ isolated universe, but that’s just not a realistic preference because audiences are too easily confused. :weeping:

Omg I’ll report back after my IMAX show tomorrow night.

Please no Penguin crossover stuff in the actual movies. That feels cheap and fan servicey.
I think Reeves is smart enough not to expect that everyone turning up for Part II will have watched The Penguin, so I can’t imagine there will be anything blatant or alienating to the movie-only audience, but I’m sure there will be some threads that the show’s viewers will be able to pick up on.

Battinson, for all his uniqueness as a take, is ultimately just… so classic Batman. He’s in a gritty crime story but he acts exactly like Batman does in Justice League comics.

Yeah. Unfortunately, left on its own I think the scene with him and Nashton in Arkham should've been cut too. I appreciate Reeves' thought process behind it but it definitely read as sequel baiting. It's the one scene in the movie that feels off to me.
I don't. It's a little appetizer and hints at a bigger world and character roster beyond what we saw specifically in the movie's story. It also further sets the history of Batman being in Year Two, and already having met one or two freakish rogues before he had to take on the Riddler's murder spree.

I'm glad they cut the Arkham scene , though. It would've have undermined several things , including Batman's first meeting with Edward in the facility.

Jack Black as Bullock or someone similar would be such a classic scenario. People would piss themselves in rage and then be praising how creative it was two years later when the very talented person is very talented.

After Eckhart in ‘89 and Flass in Batman Begins, it would be a nice change of pace to actually let the heavy-set white detective be Bullock for once.

I don't want Jack Black anywhere near this, but if he's a lock then I'd much rather have him as Bullock. I don't see him as Strange at all.

Jack Black is crazy and goofy, but he can definitely play the part of Bullock. He is more talented than a lot of his roles let on.

Not saying I want him in the film, but he is more than capable.

I'd much rather have Danny McBride or even Seth Rogen as Bullock if you wanted to draw from a more comedic well of talent.

Ugh I can't stand McBride anymore...

In fairness, his IG account is just a damn fun and wholesome follow, so there’s likely nothing to it. But I’d be here for the meltdown -> silencing haters arc if Reeves actually had the stones to cast him and it would make me pretty giddy as a longtime fan of the D to see Jables actually holding his own on screen in a Batman film.

Despite my annoyance, this feels very fishy and I'd be very surprised if nothing came of it.
