I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

After five CBMs and several shows, Gunn still hasn't got it that (harmless) speculation is what fuels fandoms...
I swear, If he had been a user here, he would have been banned already. :funny:
I know some people love it but it’s crazy how much less fun it makes the whole experience, imo. I get shooting down major harmful disinformation but we all know things like this are probably bull****, but its always been part of the fun.

There’s way too much BS floating around from the grifterverse in general. And Gunn being too online and accessible well this is what happens.

I can't see Matt Reeves having an 8 to 10 year old running around in a superhero costume alongside Batman.
Agreed. And watching all this hype build is fun...but it's not happening. Robin is being saved for DCU. Reeves said this is "Batman's story" ...I mean the fact people are thinking because two writers took a blurred selfie of the script being completed has people saying, "ROBIN MUST BE IN THIS BECUUUZZZ TOMLIN TOOK A PHOTO WITH REEVES!!"

Not taking away the dynamic duo... but a self-contained else worlds story focusing on Bruce's rise, this is only his 3rd 4th year? No Robin yet...and hopefully not at all.

Robin can still be part of The Batman Part II AND it can also be Bruce's story. One does not preclude the other.

As DKDetective pointed out, Robin is in Dark Victory and that's meant to be early in Batman's career. Certainly not outside of the realm of possibilities.

I also don't think that it's out of the realm of possibility that Robin or just a version of a young Dick Grayson could appear .

It would make sense IMO , if Pattinson's Bruce is put in a situation in which he learns to grow after becoming a mentor / Brother/ or Parental figure.

So far, aside from Alfred, he's been alone, and hasn't had to deal with the responsibility that comes with putting someone else first .

It'd be interesting to see this version of Bruce Wayne , with all his baggage , with all his angst , have to be forced to grow a bit, and take on a role he probably never considered taking.

If Reeve does adapt Robin , he could very well be 14, 15, or 16

The kid may not even become Robin in this film, but he's introduced as a 10 year old who Bruce takes in .

There are several ways Reeve could go about introducing and adapting the character , that aren't ripped straight from the comics.

So, I think it's possible Robin, or his alter ego, could appear in the next film .

Whether it's likely, is another question .

Gunn's approach to rumors is well-intentioned but ultimately pointless. If he comments on every last rumor in an attempt to debunk, then he'll inevitably have to lie or fudge when it comes to the occasional true one. Or the ones he doesn't comment on will become more suspect as being true.

Which means...I think it's fine to just carry on and ignore him. :eheh:

I think it's less about the rumours and more about who is spreading them tbh.

Nothing brings people together like Batman. Or wildly tears them apart into sectarian feuds roughly equivalent in intensity and fervour to The Troubles.
Since I was just in Belfast less than a week ago I can attest to the truthiness of this post :o

Yep. If it is Grace or Sneider he is not going to let it fester. And while this is fun as heck I can totally understand why he wouldn't want it out there if it isn't true. Look at how deep we got into it in an afternoon. The disappointment level of no Robin months from now could get ugly. As said before sectarian violence.

But to be fair, he didn't debunk that Robin isn't in the film he just basically said what I said...Sneider has no idea what is in the script.

I wonder if the original poster is concerned that BatB will be delayed until Batman Part III is sorted out & they know who the villains are?

Yeah, what’s the actual source on that quote?
THR Heat Vision newsletter.

Full context:
Weapons studio New Line would like to stay in the Cregger business, but up next he's got Resident Evil for Sony, which he will shoot in Prague this fall. He also wrote a secret sci-fi movie he's hoping to go after that.

Then there's the one that's been getting attention online: Henchmen, a potential DC Studios movie that he's called the favorite script he's ever written, and which he penned before his 2022 breakout, Barbarian.

According to sources, Henchmen would center on a low-level henchman in the Gotham crime world who gains notoriety after managing to incapacitate Batman through a stroke of luck.

The Dark Knight could appear briefly in the movie, while Harley Quinn and Joker are in the project as well. Cregger has not yet pitched it to DC Studios, though the company is said to be aware of his interest.

But even with Cregger being one of the most in-demand filmmakers in town, like any IP swing, Henchmen faces several hurdles.

DC Studios hasn't yet cast a Joker or a Batman. (Harley Quinn, theoretically but probably not, could still be played by James Gunn's The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie.)

And DC bosses Gunn and Peter Safranlikely want to be careful with anything Batman-related while they allow The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves to make The Batman Part II, and perhaps even a Batman Part III. There's no telling what villains would factor into that one, so Gunn and Safran don't want to step on his toes and double up on villains for their universe. (A fun aside: The Batman II is now gearing up for a spring shoot. But first, Robert Pattinson plans on filming a role in Dune: Part III.)

The villain thing strikes me as a nonissue. Reeves is fantastically unlikely to use the Al Ghuls or any of the rogues you'd naturally land on even loosely adapting Batman & Son.
Yeah, even though I don't have any suggestions for The Batman Part II, I would really like BATB to use Talia and her army of Men-Bats, Mr Toad, and that kind of things.
Just go for comic-book crazyness, as Superman generously did with his tons of wacky lore.

I would greatly prefer my studio head not being as chronically online as I am myself, but what do I know?

I get debunking some things that are clearly harmful and stupid, and I hate/don't trust Jeff Sneider as much as anyone, but surly this could've just been left in the ether. It's not like all the random nonsense rumors are hurt something like Brand New Day.

I simultaneously get it and disagree. I just don't miss the days of getting mad for not being given something that was never promised to begin with.
