I refuse to fall into the trap of thinking DDL will ever do a comic book movie… but damn, that mother****er is starting to look like someone who could play Hugo Strange.

I can actually see it. On a more positive note, this saga feels like it has a bit more of a serious tone than other comic book films, so maybe he would actually consider it. He would bring a LOT of intensity to Hugo. I’d be down to see Hugo if his story is good.

Confession time : somehow, I've yet to see a film with DDL.
I might have seen Gangs of New York a long time ago and forgotten about it, and There Will Be Blood is that kind of film that I've been saying to myself “Damn, I have to watch it soon” since pretty much its release.

So, I don't know much about the guy, but what I do know is that he'll never touch something like Batman, no matter how prestigious the current adaptation may seem to us...

He's seemed pretty chill in these Anemone press junkets. I dunno. If Reeves was interested he could at least ask.

Thinking about actors with proximity to Matt Reeves and crew for Hugo Strange. I think Brendan Gleeson would crush that role. Ohhh or Tim Robbins (edit: no connection to Reeves thoo)

I can ask Hunter Schafer out. This does not mean it's going to happen. :funny:
Respectfully, not if you're slower than me to the punch :sly:

DDL would be absolutely bat**** crazy but weirder things have frankly happened. You could cast the dude as Posion Ivy and I'd be all for it

It’s going to be fun going back to see who nailed the villain and the casting back in 2019.
When Matt first said that the first movie would be a “noir detective story”, my mind immediately went to Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman.

The mobster and the femme fatale are of course noir staples, and no better villain for an investigative story than the Riddler.

And of course I was right. :o

Colin emphasizing that Oz has a much smaller role and Reeves in the past saying that Penguin has a key role in the film makes me even more convinced that he will be an informant at some point in the plot.

The Commission will surround him and making a deal will be his way of escaping and getting out "clean".

I think Oz having a much smaller role + Penguin being a bridge between the movies + the movie digging even further into corruption, is a strong indicator of a focus on Arkham. I mean, The Penguin establishes the character as the new head of organized crime in Gotham, yet Penguin has what must be little more than a cameo in the sequel? Clearly the corruption angle has little to do with organized crime like the first film, so what is left? It's gotta be Arkham

I can’t quite grasp Penguin’s role in this. It’s small, yet key and the Task Force is after him while he’s rubbing elbows with dirty politicians.

I know Matt takes some inspiration from the Telltale games, so I figured that he would be responsible for scaring Harvey in this story. If this film is like the first, it will focus on different things that all connects.

Though, this sends me even further down a rabbit hole. I’m starting to rethink my theory about where this story could go now.

What's the source on his role being key? I don't remember that

My guess is he’s moving up into the upper rungs of society and high society will be the focus of the story. Especially since we know it’s about Bruce more than Batman. Can imagine him encountering Oz at some upper crust gala.
A big question in the last movie was why wasn't Bruce himself doing enough to help the city. Would make sense for him to be putting himself out there, doing more.

My most confident opinion about Part II’s plot is that this will be the main focus of the story.
