I'm Reading Your Stuff: General News and Discussion Thread

Interestingly, that first image isn't an underground tunnel; it's apparently the ceiling structure of St. George's Hall.

Someone made a video there a while ago, and it's clearly the same place.

These little tidbits have been such a nice balm for my soul after a ****ty week. I especially love to see them potentially doubling down on the gothic architecture as we explore different parts of the city.

The crypts look awesome as well, could the Waynes be buried there?

don't wanna be annoying but this screams court to me

Screams Sewer King to me…
Almost, but it's not the right king...

You're all far off. Look again...

More seriously, these photos are very cool, and if they are indeed for the film (but that seems obvious), then it is very encouraging that this sequel will retain the incredible mood created for Gotham.

“I like taking the jobs of younger actors” Watch this man continue to play 30-ish year old Batman for the next fifteen years (no time jumps whatsoever) and pull it off purely due to youthful exuberance.

The supposed tunnel was identified as the structure above the ceiling of St. George's Hall, the building they used for the outside location of the mayor's funeral. Indicates they might be considering actually using some of the interiors from the hall for the sequel. It has courtrooms and like, ballrooms. Both have interesting implications.

Looks like a place where owls might roost

Hopefully we'll get a BatCat dance this time around!

I was rewatching some of the interviews from the penguin and it's interesting, producer Dylan Clark made it clear they want to do more series with marque characters. As much as I am excited for the sequel, I'm also interested to see if there is another villain that makes a mark like the penguin did to warrant a series.

Lot of people have said it but if they introduce Harvey Dent as the new D.A. in the sequel, which seems pretty likely, a Two-Face legal type show seems pretty promising. Especially when it seems that after TDK, the only way to really do the character any more justice, is to give him more time to be developed before the transformation into villain. Personally, I'd love if they took some inspiration from Earth One, and did something interesting with his twin sister in a prominent role, even if they don't have the same exact twist. Now I think a concern would be if his transformation does happen on the show, is that taking too much away from what they'd want to do with him in a movie? If they don't have the transformation happen, I'd fear the show might feel a bit like filler. I guess as someone who didn't really love The Penguin, I hope further spin-offs take bigger swings, have more impactful plots on the world, show us more interesting takes on other comic characters.

I'd personally love to see a Batgirl show, with Barbara Gordon at Gotham University, and use that as a vessel to introduce some other villains with unique spins. I had an idea for a Jonathan Crane to be a psychology professor, but you don't learn till later that his son, an outcast chemistry student at the school, is the Jonathan Crane who becomes Scarecrow. I'd want some strong Scream vibes. Probably have some attack on the school be the finale, with Crane ending up in Arkham. I'd cast David Cronenberg as Professor Crane, and Owen Teague as Jonathan Crane.

Honestly I'm hoping the Arkham show gets kicked back over to Reeves and Co. Boggles my mind that neither party's been able to crack this yet.

If the sequel dives into Arkham in a significant way, it will be interesting if the ramifications of that would fuel a spin-off. Like I'm currently thinking Hugo Strange might be the warden during the sequel, but say he gets killed or locked up and then the show establishes a new character taking over and what that looks like.

Super hot take, but apart from my fanboy brain wanting a Catwoman show my interest in more spin-offs is pretty limited. Penguin was a good show, but I still found it more reductive than anything else? I don't need a massive sub-plot about how Falcone was a serial killer, the implication in The Batman is effective and haunting. Just one of a couple examples where it felt very classic expanded universe, filling in details that don't need to be filled in - fandom wiki lore stuff.

But I also didn't particularly love a majority of the show so the prospect of more in that vein doesn't excite me much.

I feel like this is exactly why the Marvel and SW shows haven't worked with a few exceptions. Andor had a purpose. Something to say. Most of these shows are made for content.

I like Penguin a lot. But if you asked me if it added anything to the Batman, I would say no. Arguably a net negative, but again I really like it. But it also doesn't need to exist as a part of that story.

The show I would be into for The Batman is the GCPD, because I do think it could really add something. More then even a Catwoman or Arkham show.
