Not surprised. While it's normal for an artist to use references to help make the work, it's a whole different thing when most of your images are traced or heavely edited/filtered photos, which seems to be the case for Sorrentino. Even considering him more of a graphic designer than an illustrator, all the graphic inconsistencies and obviously copy-pasted faces have always bothered me and given me a low opinion of his work...
It's only logical to me that someone like him would eventually turn to AI, and he was already criticized for nearly two years ago.

My thinking as well. They probably want to announce the Dent’s as a couple, or even full family. Hence why they haven’t officially confirmed Scarlett yet even though we know she’s in it.
