Incredible! Ang Lee's Hulk better than Superman Returns!

I need to see SR again to really judge, but i would say after some thought on SR, it is slightly worse than Hulk and not as deep as some one previously mentioned.

Superman Returns was boring and just a bad corny movie in my opinion. No offense to Superman fans. I can only handle so much corny crap. But Superman Returns had a little too much. I think the only people who can enjoy that movie are Superman fans.

Batman Begins was good but it doesn't beat the original 1989 in my opinion.:p

I say Batman Begins was a 7/10 or 8/10.

Hulk was much better than Superman Returns was in my opinion.

i TOTALLY AGREE!
HULK was WAAAAYYYYY better than Superman Returns

SR was one imbalanced movie
a superhero flick without action
a villain that has the LAMEST scheme
a superhero who's being deprived of his morals (he's a peepingtom & an irresponsible father)....to think he's supposed to be the BOYSCOUT of the superheroes
the drama & the storyline are pretentious & oftentimes corny
& a vast world of plotholes

we never even see superman smash something

hello? we're doing SUPERMAN...not a soap opera.

many superman fans hated it

while HULK....
the only common negative comments ive heard were...
the bad CGI
the hulk-poodles
the confusing end battle

that's about it

small things that many of us can ignore

i came out of HULK happy
SR on the otherhand...it was the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT since Schumacher's Batman movies

I was just wondering because some people on the hype just dont connect with Singer's style in movies, i'm still going to see SR regardless, i think i will enjoy it.

I usually enjoy Singer's films and have no problem with him as a director. I just don't think he was right for Superman Returns.

While i think Hulk was a slightly better movie than SR i think you have completely missed the point of that movie. How is he a peeping tom? He can look through any womans clothes in the world and he doesnt, yet he looks through a house wall and listen to a conversaion and is a peeping tom, WHAT THE ****!.

And how can he be an 'irresponsible father' when he doesnt even know he is a father until THE LAST SCENE in the movie. Also how is he irresponsible in leaving the care and raising of his son to a genuinly good man who cares about him and can be there for him more than Superman could?

Honestly, sometimes i wonder whether people actually watch these movies. 90% of the criticism of the movie i understand, the other 10% just dont hol water.

Spot on. Well said.

And Supes in SR is a peepingtom. They don't have to go all the way and show him checking Lois' private parts. He has no bussiness invading someone's privacy like that. Think of it. How would you feel if someone was on a rooftop across the street looking with binoculars into your house and listening to your private conversations? That's unacceptable coming from any human being, let alone from the boy scout of super-heroes...

Plus he's certainly irresponsible, if not a bad father. He may not know Jason's his son, but surely they'd heard of protection on Krypton right? What, Lois was a one-night-stand to him and therefore all possible consequences left him completely cold?

I can't really say I liked Hulk, but it's lightyears ahead of the bag of mischaracterizations, inconsistencies and monstrous plotholes that SR was...

P.S.: I liked both of Singer's X-men, but they could have been better, especially X2 (and certainly more X-like). Still, good films. That being said, I don't want Singer anywhere near a comic book movie again.

^ Well i couldnt disagree with you more sorry. Its not like he was looking in and listening to the conversation of someone he barely knew. Him and and Lois did and still do share a special bond, and now, after returning to Krypton and realising he is the last remaining survivor, he is feeling more alone than ever, to then go and see the only person he ever truly connected with on this planet lose interest in him is tragic IMO.

I liked both HULK and S.R..If they would have left the crappy absorbing dad story out,HULK would have been much better.I give the edge to S.R.

I'm in disagreeance with the majority in that I loved both Hulk and SR. What turned most people off about Hulk, I actually thought was great. I loved the storyline (even if the first thirty minutes could've been condensed a little). The dialogue was solid and Bana's performance had the right quirks to it. Banner came across as a weird dude who definitely had problems. The action sequences were creative as hell in my opinion (come on, Hulk spitting a warhead back at a chopper? Awesome) and I thought the CGI was the best that could be done for such a lofty task of bringing a full-motion behemoth to the screen. I'm one of the most anal retentive Superman fans out there (just look at my screen name) and I thought SR was great. It had a different tone than previous efforts and the ending wasn't totally happy, so it did piss a lot of people off. My view overall is skewered, so guess which movie I like better?

I dunno KK but i share pretty much the same opinions as you, but i would place Hulk higher than SR.

Well said dude.

Personally, I think they are both extremely excellent movies. I can't say which I prefer just yet however, having seen Hulk many, many times and only seeing Superman Returns twice.

I liked both the Hulk and SR. SR wasn't a great movie but it was okay. I must admit though, that I thought Hulk was a better movie.

Superman Returns, IMVHO, was better than the Hulk, if only a little so. And believe me, my friends, that is not saying much at all.

Superman Returns: 5/10

"The Hulk": 4/10

So if you know somebody quite well, then it's OK to spy on them without their permission? I know they were trying to make it seem tragic, but that was totally inappropriate IMO.

He doesnt just know Lois quite well, he gave up his freaking powers for her, he loves her and she is the only person in this world he connects with. IMO he went to try and speak to Lois, but when she said to Richard she didnt love Superman, he left.

Anyway, this is not the right place to discuss this. Plus, SR had far more serious problems than this one...

Fair enough, i liked SR so we'll just agree to disagree.

They both had many serious problems.

Hulk better than SR? I dont think so. Hulk i think was the same type of story minded film but I felt it had far more script issues than SR which i found amazing.

At least id never fast forward through an entire characters scenes like i do with Talbot.... ugh. Its always a great feeling when hes gone from the film by the desert sequences lol

saw SR today, liked it, actually, loved it. Both films have theirt faults but they are still good.

IMHO, I think Ang Lee's HULK was much more superior than Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS. No contest. Thankfully, I went into SR with extremely low expectations, and thank god I did. As I found that film to be one of the most underwhelming experiences in my life, and I felt like I was sitting there for 3 hours. Being a Superman fan, I found it very unfortunate that I was checking my watch to see when the movie might end. Despite having a similar structure to the original Donner film, SR was extremely lacking. Great special effects, but thats where the positives end for me.

Hulk was much better. As I thought Bana & Connelly had much more chemistry than Routh & Bosworth. HULK was a different type of superhero movie, as the approach was very much not what the general public was expecting, but ultimately I believe Ang Lee achieved in making a much more satisfying, and in-depth movie than SR could ever hope to be.

HULK 8/10
SR 5/10
