I guess shifting gears here, who do want to direct a sequel?

I think its tough to find someone who is a perfect match but I think my top 2 choices that I can think of would be Gareth Edwards and Niel Blomkamp. I gotta think real long and hard to get some other names to add to that list.

The teaming up idea is about the best thing for Hulk.
One of the reasons he was so great in the Avengers is because of the way he plays off of other super characters.

How about Thor needing to elicit his help?

While that may be true, I don't see why it would be any different than james gunn and GotG, its clear he definitely has influenced that movie while still being in Marvel's guidelines. So I believe GE could possibly be one of the best choices out there are far as directors go, especially if godzilla is half as good as it looks.

Hmmm interesting choice. I wonder if he really knows action. Because he clearly knows how to bring out the true essence of his characters.

A great Hulk movie would have to be a careful balance between epic action scenarios, and great characterization and acting.

Gareth Edwards, based on Godzilla, would be good for those epic action scenarios, but I'm not impressed by his character direction. Everyone in that movie aside from Cranston's character was a bore. And as such, it felt like I was just waiting for the monsters to show up. A Hulk movie shouldn't feel like that. You should be just as interested in seeing Banner think things through and struggle with the world around him, as you are in seeing Hulk smash things.

I haven't seen Monsters yet, because I'm a lazy little s.o.b. so I don't know about the acting and characterization in that.

It's completely the other way with Monsters. It had a really powerful human story that just so happened to feature these large creatures in it as well.

Get on Up looks pretty good so maybe I'd agree to Tate Taylor. But I too would be concerned about how well he knows action. Maybe if he had an adviser for that sort of thing?

I think an angle that would work really well thematically for the Hulk sequel is "fear".

Ever since becoming the Hulk, Banner hasn't felt fear. Not in the purest sense of the word. He's had bouts of depression, nihilism, existential dread et al, but he hasn't viscerally feared for his life. Not when Black Widow and dozens of SHIELD agents had guns trained at him in Calcutta. Not when he fell thousands of feet. Not when the Chitauri swarmed the Hulk in NY. Not against the Abomination. And certainly not when the Hulk went up against a puny god. Maybe he will against Ultron, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

What if an enemy (Leader would be my preference) came up with some way to absolutely end Banner and by proxy the Hulk? How will Banner deal with the fact that the "indestructible" Hulk turns out to be something of a misnomer?

Fear is a good theme to explore for the Hulk.
I think that fear would be a decent way/angle to introducing She Hulk to if they want to
