Possibly worth noting:

Thousands of Fandango moviegoers were surveyed and below are the top picks for the summer:

Most Anticipated Summer Action Movie:

1. “Captain America: Civil War” (May 6)
2. “Independence Day: Resurgence” (June 24)
3. “Jason Bourne” (July 29)
4. “X-Men: Apocalypse” (May 27)
5. “Suicide Squad” (August 5)

I keep telling people, don't sleep on this movie.

Don't underestimate The Goldblum.

For those who have seen Avatar: The Last Airbender do you think the final scene in this movie will be pretty much the same as the final scene of season 2? Just switch a couple of things like Ba Sing Se with Earth, Appa with a ship and the King with the President.

Definitely seeing this in theaters, looks like it has great scale. I was confused about why the Area 51 scientist played by Data is back in this movie. I always thought he had been killed by the alien that mind controlled him?

I've always wanted to see ground war with the awesome alien designs from the first movie. Glad we're getting it!

I'm still not seeing the potential for this. It just looks like modern Emmerich disaster porn with the Independence Day brand slapped on it. I'll be shocked if this turns out good.

But dammit if I still don't love Jeff Goldblum. :awesome:

Okay, just saw the trailer, looks like the movie is going to be a lot better than I was expecting.

Damn good trailer.

I've been thinking the same for a while. This could basically be this years Jurassic World.

Nah, it was a submission via Alien rear naked choke. Billy Baldwin just doesn't know s*** about checking pulses.

I want to get excited about this but Hemsworth doesn't have a quarter of the charisma that Smith did.

I think Will Smith should've skipped out on After Earth and done this film instead. It will feel like there's someone missing.

Well if he wasn't (reportedly) demanding a $50 million dollar paycheck to return...

Honestly, I think Suicide Squad is a much more interesting project for Smith than this. He chose well.

Normally I'd be sharing this sentiment... but these new age disaster flicks don't require leads to carry/enhance them as much anymore. My guess is they just use pretty faces to put more butts in seats at the theater. I use the guy from the recent Godzilla as an example 'cause he didn't really add or detract much from the film itself.. he was just kinda there.

It just looks like visual mindlessness. I guess I'm just not enough of a sci-fi guy to get into something like this. And that speech Steven Hiller's kid looks to be making is cringe worthy.

I'm kinda indifferent to the destruction porn on display here. I guess we've just seen it so many times that it just doesn't have the same effect. The futuristic jets flying around on the other hand look as ****. I hope we get enough of those in the movie.

I wish he could have done both, but this and Suicide Squad were filming at the same time. I still can't help but think that Smith's absence is going to hurt this movie.

Emmerich is at his best when being ludicrous

totally on board

also look at Bill Pullman rocking a serious beard

Yeah, this is going to be a sleeper hit. It's crazy because June is like that one month that's pretty lowkey in regards to summer. Mostly comedies and family stuff, but JW nabbed that whole month last year.
