FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU NO I only have two satellites up and haven't researched laser rifles yet! This trailer is very XCOM.

Why do I get the feeling they'll be killing off some of the returning cast like Hirsch and Pullman?

I could see Pullman going. Hirsch-- who looks exactly the ****ing same, by the way-- I think will survive.

Somebody will make a heroic sacrifice. I also wonder if the flick will have as much humor as the last.

I predict Pullman will be the one sacrificing him self. It seemed most of Goldblums lines were pretty light and fun. I wish this trailer went for a more slow build up than what we got.

It would have been cool if they progressively showed as what the new tech was and how it had been integrated into our everyday life and then BAM the aliens are returning.

Not feeling it at all. And... Seriously... Hirsch's character is still alive?

I mean, I would wait to see reviews and more footage but... Yeah, I didn't ever feel the need to see a follow up and after this trailer (and... Was that kiss of death Liam Hemmsworth?) I still don't need to see one.

The lesser Hemsworth is what we call him.

I just call him slacker cuz, what ever you can say about his bro, the man gives effort in just about everything he does. Liam is just happy to be handsome Hollywood actor #3347620-12. He puts NO effort into anything. He's coasting on his looks. He's not just dull in his performances, he's half assed and it shows.

I think so. His "mind meld" with the alien in the last movie seems to be having repercussions... Basically Randy Quaid's character from the first, but not played for comedic affect.

Sure, why not? He's playing his age (and looks twenty years younger).

Agreed on that one.

Really like the look of the fighters... Gotta wonder if Humanity has built any other military space craft as well?

According to the viral site they now have outposts on our moon, Mars and one of the moons of Saturn(Rhea).

I absolutely loved this trailer. I'm a big fan of the original movie(yeah, so what if they way they beat the aliens is BS...I DON'T CARE!) and hearing that iconic speech over the last half of the trailer just brought all the feels back. I was in my early 20's when the last one came our and I believe it's probably the last film(in terms of release dates) that I hold any nostalgia for still. I gotta say I wasn't looking forward to this film before this trailer as I figured the time between films was just going to be too much of an obstacle to overcome. But now this film has jumped to near the top of my most anticipated films list for the next year. I'd say after Civil War and maybe the Nice Guys(red band at least) and Jungle Book this is well and away my favorite trailer that I've seen in more then half a year. Screw Star Wars, BvS, Deadpool, X-Men8, TMNT2, etc. This blew them all away, IMO. And Will Smith being gone, I don't mind. More than that I'm glad he's gone and killed off after hearing the behind the scenes stuff with him. Screw him, his heyday is behind him. The original was an ensemble film anyway and Pullman and Goldblum were as much leads of that film as Smith was. I'm more bothered that Robert Loggia won't be back(RIP).

As for the president's daughter being recast, huh? She wasn't even really a character in the first movie. Why on Earth would anyone care if they recast or not? It's a non-issue to me. And I doubt Spiner will be returning what with him being KILLED in the first film but I guess he could show up on some old videos talking about alien technology or something...I really don't care if he returns or not.

I give the trailer a solid 9/10.

It was a bit odd seeing all those characters on the moon.

If I wanted to get real critical then I'd say the initial shot of the UN convoy had me wondering why they're still using conventional ground vehicles but I guess there's only so far they can advance in a mere 20 years even with access to alien technology.

Im bet someone will use an "old school" fighter jet to take down a bunch of aliens

Meh Trailer did not really impress me.

Me either. I wasn't really psyched for this (very unnecessary) sequel from the get go. This trailer hasn't changed that for me at all. I might go see it if I have enough Scene Points to get a free movie. Or maybe I'll buy a ticket to see one movie and then right after sneak into a different theatre to watch ID2. But I'm not devoting any of my hard earned dollars towards their bottom line.

I also very much think this has a solid shot at joining the billion $ WW club for 2016.

ID4 ain't Jurassic Park. This might do very well for itself, but I really doubt we're looking a billion dollar movie here.

Actually... I think we are looking at a high possibility of a JW repeat. The elements are all there. I probably won't see it but ID was a big part of a lot of people's youth that are now entering their 30's with kids of their own. I could definitely see a repeat of JW, seeing as how other than the final sequence, JW wasn't all that good film, but that didn't stop it's BO take.

It won't hit a billion. ID4 doesn't have the same nostalgia factor as Star Wars or Jurassic Park. It was a big movie for its time, but it never really transcended the '90s. Besides that, Will Smith not being in it is going to hurt the box office. Hell, the last couple of movies he was in didn't do so well either, but that dude is one of the main reasons why the first film was such a hit. People would see him go back to one of the roles that made him a star.

Hirsch is 80...Jesus Christ what does he do, drink Unicorn blood or something ?

Eh... I probably won't be seeing this, as I said, but I wouldn't let the opinions on message boards tell you the story of what is "nostalgic". No one really saw JW doing what it did. Let's be honest, the later JP films didn't "transcend" the 90's either. Hell, you could make a case that despite it's classic status that neither did JP... Which is in fact, part of what makes it a nostalgic touchstone. I don't think Smith being absent is a factor either since ID made it's money when he was still just "the Fresh Prince". ID made it's bank on people liking the story in general. That it was a breakout role for Smith was a bonus. JW had none of the original cast either sans B.D. Wong and I don't think people forked over $1 billion to see him.
