There are 10 million people in Chicago and the burbs.... I can't believe that Navy Pier is the only theater showing this in 70MM......

There's also one in Lincolnshire.

300 Parkway Drive
Lincolnshire, IL 60069

The only screen in all of Missouri is freaking Branson of all places ...ugh.

I'd actually consider driving up to Chicago like I did for the Dark Knight Rises but I'm actually already taking a trip up there on the 18th of this month.

How many theaters are showing true Imax in NYC? Even Jersey will do.

There's Lincoln Square, Palisades and New Rochelle.

I'll be at the Nov. 4th 8:00 screening at The Palisades, w00t. Can't go wrong with Lincoln Square though if you live in the boroughs though, one of the best IMAX theaters around.

Is Lincoln Square really projecting 1570 Imax? I thought they switched over to digital.

Guess I don't gotta nowhere. Great. I thought I heard they switched exclusively to digi. Sweet.

I dunno what was more impressive, the last couple of shots or what seems to me Zimmer's score. He wasn't kidding about going a radically new approach.
is this confirmed that its from the score?

:wow::up:

Not confirmed, but I think it's a very, very safe bet.

Since 1951 Hamilton’s distinctive watches have caught the attention of the world’s leading screen stylists. Hamilton has been featured in over 400 films, using it’s watchmaking knowledge to help movie makers create the perfect watches for their characters.
In November, Hamilton returns to the big screen in the Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures movie “INTERSTELLAR”, directed by Christopher Nolan.
Time plays a critical role in the film INTERSTELLAR. Hamilton worked hand in hand with the production team to design a UNIQUE Hamilton timepiece for the character Murph (played by Mackenzie Foy and Jessica Chastain), and provided the Khaki Pilot Day Date to outfit Cooper (played by Matthew McConaughey).

With our time on Earth coming to an end, a team of explorers undertakes the most important mission in human history: traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars.
From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (“The Dark Knight” films, “Inception”), “Interstellar” stars Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables”), Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married”), Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn (“Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”), and Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”). The main cast also includes Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy and Topher Grace.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film is written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan. Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Lynda Obst produced “Interstellar,” with Jordan Goldberg, Jake Myers, Kip Thorne and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.
Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team was led by director of photography Hoyte Van Hoytema (“Her”), Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley (“The Dark Knight”), Oscar-nominated editor Lee Smith (“The Dark Knight”), and Oscar-nominated costume designer Mary Zophres (“True Grit”). The score was composed by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “The Lion King”).
Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures present, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy/Lynda Obst Productions production, a film by Christopher Nolan, “Interstellar.” “Interstellar” is slated to open worldwide beginning November 7, 2014.

The Lincolnshire website says it is in IMAX digital.

Ok so I know this is probably a stupid question, but I am not well versed in all things IMAX...

In terms of quality, is this the correct "rankings" of IMAX ?

1. 70mm
2. 35mm
3. Digital

I only ask because I found a place in Missouri that is showing it in 35mm and I wonder if that is better than the digital that is an hour away from me ?

I need to see this at Lincoln Square, I guess.

Saw the IMAX trailer. What was

That tornado-looking thing at the end?

70mm is the TRUE IMAX experience. 35mm is just essentially a standard theater and Digital is "LIEMAX."

The theater next to me doesn't even call its digital projector IMAX, they just call it digital. The screen is much bigger, and the seats are MUCH wider and comfortable. The screen is definitely the same size as the LIEMAXs, but I do like how they don't refer to it as IMAX. And I also like how it's not as expensive as LIEMAX. It's in between regular and IMAX prices, as it should be.

YES, I called the IMAX theater in Woodridge (where I saw Dark Knight Rises in 70mm) and they said they got rid of their film projectors.

Navy Piers theater is nice. The goddamn parking is expensive as ****. Stupid Pier!

Is the IMAX at the Indianapolis Museum legitimate?

Just for clarity's sake, it's not the true IMAX experience unless it says "IMAX 70mm". There's also just plain 70mm, which has the same resolution as IMAX but not the gigantic screen.

Again, for anyone who is confused about formats and what is available to them this is the place to go:

almost wish i hadn't watched that IMAX trailer. some of those shots would have been so incredible to have seen for the first time in context and in an IMAX theater.

but, gosh, amazing trailer. i'm not one for hyperbole but, honestly, it might actually be one of the better trailers i've ever seen. the music, the imagery...towards the end of it i had a weirdly strong emotional reaction to it. very powerful and even now i kind of have chills thinking about it. and it's a trailer. wow.

You guys think its worth it to see the movie in regular old IMAX? I don't have a "real" IMAX anywhere near me. Just average IMAX.
I did see Godzilla in my regular IMAX theater, and that was pretty neat.
