Yeah, I mean, if you don't have a real IMAX near you, then a fake IMAX is probably you're next best option.

I guess it is a "real" IMAX, as it is actually called "IMAX". But it just isnt in the highest quality.
But anyway, Thanks!

Digital IMAX are called IMAX as well. I myself call them LieMAX, because they tend to have a smaller screen than film IMAX venues, and because they are digital. Yet they charge extra and advertise it as if its no different from film IMAX which is a lie.

"Real" or true IMAX (15/70 film) is a dying breed. But yeah if all you have in your area is a LieMax or a BIGD its better than any standard screen.

I hate how they don't advertise it as "IMAX Digital" instead and make it easier.

As crazy as it sounds hearing myself say this, I'm more excited about this movie than any Batmans Nolan made. This just looks so god damn epic and relevant in the best possible way. Is October over yet?

I have the exact opposite reaction. I'm trying to tell myself to get excited and I don't know why. I usually love Nolan.

Have you seen the new IMAX trailer? There is a shot of the ship traveling across the event horizon of a massive black hole's event horizon and the ship looks tiny and the whole thing is just jaw dropping.

What makes it even more awesome is the black hole is actually depicted properly. Its not just a flat black hole with a disc, but a massive 3D spherical void with matter spinning at near light speed all around it and over it. Its just :wow:. Id pay the price of admission just to see that single scene on a theater screen.

Thats the stuff thats got me really excited. All the cool space stuff.

There is definitely something. I have to keep reminding myself that a Nolan film is coming out in a month however I'm really excited by what I've seen.

Maybe it's the November release. I've not grown custom to calling a Summer movie director but I've gotten use to his films being Summer events.

Even on crappy phone quality in which the view was obscured by seats and cropped off by the sheer size of the screen I literally open mouthed at the black hole. That looked so trippy and mind bendingly cool it is actually the only time I thought "that would have been amazing in 3D"

My Interstellar hype is about the same level of TDKR's. But as the release date closes in, it just gets bigger and bigger. Movie of the year coming up folks!

Yeah, as the marketing has ramped up so has my hype.

For the past year I've been in a casually excited, "This is Nolan, so obviously I'm looking forward to it" mode but only in the past few weeks or so have I really started getting that "My soul needs this movie NOW" feeling. Very exciting.

This NY film critic has an untitled movie at #1 spot of his "Best Movies of 2014." tomshone.blogspot.com

Which unreleased movie might that be? :word:

Wow, my god did I get goosebumps!!!!!! I just watched the Imax trailer!!!!! This film MUST be watched in IMAX!!!

Could be Interstellar. We know screenings have been shown and I doubt the Hobbit has been yet. However it could also have been Fury, Inherent Vice, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything as they all have definitely been shown to critics.

I dont think any December releases would have been shown yet.

Since when did NY critics like Christopher Nolan or his movies? I'm willing to bet it's anything BUT Interstellar.

Tom Shone actually isn't a Nolan hater. It's possible.

Maybe his #1 is the new Left Behind movie with Nic Cage.

One thing I love about living the DC area: multiple real IMAX options around. After watching the IMAX trailer, I plan to see this on all of them. :D

Yeah, that is great, isn't it? I'm probably going to see it in the Air and Space Museum because, well, it just fits.

I'm going to BOTH Air & Space museums, haha. I'll probably go to the one in Chantilly first since its screen is a little bigger.

I actually have a 15/70 film IMAX only an hour from me, but its a ****ing Dome IMAX. I cant imagine watching a movie on that. Ive watched documentaries shot for Dome on it, but a film shot for a flat frame being projected onto a dome would prolly look all wrong.

It does. I've seen a couple of regular Hollywood movies on a Dome IMAX and wouldn't recommend it. Granted, I don't think I've seen one that was SHOT for IMAX on the Dome, but I also don't think the different frame size would change my opinion on it.
