Interstellar - Part 7

WB should send Soderbergh a basket full of money each year.

Nolan couldn't even get a meeting with WB...Until Soderbergh stepped in.

It is a Nolan thread, inside another Nolan thread, inside another Nolan thread.

Just to speed things up:

- The Prestige is his underrated masterpiece.

- TDKT and Inception have messy third acts.

- Everyone actually likes Memento.

- Nolan can't shoot action.

- Nolan is cold, sterile, and possibly dead inside.

- Nolan directed Insomnia?

You're welcome.

- Nolan invented time and space

I like it, but IMO it's one of his lesser films.

I think Batman Begins, The Prestige, and TDKR have messy third acts (actually TDKR is sort of messy in general), but I don't agree about Inception.

I've actually (gasp, shock) never seen Memento.

It's definitely not his strong suit. Although Inception's action was better than Batman's, for some reason. That weightless hallway fight was one of the coolest fight scenes since The Matrix. But yea, Batman fight scenes are a mess. The car chases are okay, but he can't shoot fight scenes (at least not with Batman).

Agree to a point. I felt nothing at the Waynes' murder in Batman Begins, or Rachel's death in TDK. I felt TDKR had more feeling, personally, and I thought Inception had some moving scenes (old Cobb and Mal walking through their dream city :csad:).

Not bad but probably the least of his movies.

What is keeping ya from seeing Memento? Too much hype?

My favorite Nolan film by far.

I can definitely see this.

TDKR is choppy as a whole, I agree. I love Begins third act, but I definitely agree it is messy, I also agree that Inception is pretty pitch perfect.

You should definitely watch it.

I love the chases in Batman, especially the one in TDK. I also really liked his ninja Batman scenes, like when he crashes the basement in BB. I also think he nailed the emotion, if not the physical side of the first Batman/Bane encounter.

The thing about the Waynes' murder, is I always felt that it was intentional. It was suppose to have a surreal quality, which I really, really like.

With films like Memento and Inception I think he really showed he "gets it", and I always sympathized with his Bruce and Gordon.

Not bad but probably the least of his movies.
Also the one I think most haven't seen. Well, other then Following.

The Following is very much a student film. There's some good ideas in it, but I was ultimately bored by the end of it.

It's just "Following"..."The Following" is that awful show on FOX. :o

I think Batman Begins' third act gets pretty cheesy actually, more than TDK or TDKR.

I think TDKR still takes the 1st price but BB comes close, that "i wont kill you, but i dont have to save you" line will always be so cringe worthy for me

I still prefer BB over the other two, it's the most "batmany" Nolan has done for the character.

I've never seen The Following. Memento is so clever that I can't help but really like it.
Thankyou for this, I had a good laugh.

It definitely gets cheesy, but I really like it. I always feel like Nolan balances his cheese with the badass and/or clever.

If there was one thing I would do to Nolan's Batman films, I would cut out the "commentary" characters. The guys who work at the water station or whatever it is, and the cop riding shotgun with Gordon irk me.

Same here. It's an experiment. His first real full-length feature was Memento, and so i practically ignore Following.

I friggin love that line. Ras made his own bed. It's not murder. Batman didn't put him on this train. It was a suicide mission.
