Because Jeremy Jahns is awful?

Also, how the hell is this guy a professional critic?

Interstellar is hilariously awful. Christopher Nolan is such a doofus.

People of average intelligence can become film critics, it's not an elite class of people like neurosurgeons or nuclear physicists.

What?! Jahns is great to me in the way he actually describes his likes and dislikes. His early videos SUCK though.
That tweet... No. "Christopher Nolan is such a doofus." Nice 80's, middle school takedown.

I have seen very few arguments against the hyperbolic "best film ever" reviews but hyperbolic negative reviews are worse?

One last thing I'll add before I tuck myself into bed like a baby: if you DON'T like Nolan's films, this is not the movie to change that. It's a very Nolan style movie. However, if you usually buy what Nolan is selling, this will be right up your alley. It's also his most mature film to date. McConaughey is fantastic, and he and Hathaway have a great rapport with each other.

If that's all it takes to get paid for being a critic, sign me up I guess.

That's just completely pitiful.

It must be hard to be a critic. You have to summarize a story and then say if you liked it.

Oh lawd.

"A soulful, must see masterpiece." That caught my eye. I mean, I hope he's right but... Eh.
"Nolan is a doofus.", just seems petty.

I gave him a chance early on, but no dice. :o

I emailed back and forth with him during his early vids, I kept asking him to review more foreign films or other known classics, but he told me....He was only interested in films made in the 90s. :whatever:

I nevah trust a critic who can't name three Bergman films.

It's not really that crazy, especially if you've seen 2001. But it's definitely out there.

Lol! He's almost like a totally different person now. To each their own though.

I'm not really seeing too many hyperbolic, positive reviews. Most of what I'm seeing is that it's an amazing theatre experience. Ambitious but flawed.

Calum Marsh's blurb represents what I've come to expect from the petty, hipster, and to steal a phrase from him, doofuses who relentlessly attack Nolan's films and the folks who enjoy his films.

To those that have watched it. Should I take a date with me to the movie?

Ha! Only in his intensity is what I meant. He still wants nothing to do with foreign films.

Maybe. I'm noticing that Nolan has won over a few critics who are normally detractors. Critics like Matt Zoller Seitz.

Not too surprised by some of these critics who gave negative reviews. There's one I read last week and the critic outright said something like "movie could have been a masterpiece if I didn't have to think thorough it"... :whatever:

You're not checking the right Tweets, I guess. :cwink: In France, they're raving it.

And Quentin Tarantino loved it according to Kris Tapley.

QT was never overly enthused with Nolan's movies before. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't care for the "realistic" take on Batman.

I thought that Tarantino would have liked Nolan's Inception.

Just saw the film. Truly remarkable/overwhelming experience. Filmmaking at it's finest; Nolan's most mature film to date.
Can you give an approximate number of minutes of IMAX footage? TDKR has 72 minutes and Interstellar is said to have even more.

The release dates for movies I've long anticipated always tend to feel a little surreal.

The fact that I'm seeing Interstellar tomorrow at 8pm is no exception.

If you are paid to review, yes.

On both sides.

Ebert left a huge gap. :csad:
My point was definitely that both type of reviews are obnoxious to me when it's coming from paid and published critics. Those critics shouldn't behave like fanboys.

If I were a semi professional critic I would not have written such an over the top fangirl review for Captain America: Winter Soldier or any film that I give my thoughts about on Hype.
