Interstellar - Part 8

I can also confirm sound issues. The mix in the movie is inconsistent to say the leat.

Even at my normal old theater, I had no problems hearing the actors. And the music didn't seem to loud. I loved the loud score. It was very intense. The only time I had a problem hearing, was when Alfred was in bed, talking to Murph. And that was totally believable

In the theater I visited, the musical score was not too loud and dialogue was perfectly audible, I had no problem whatsoever.

So that must be some issue with individual theater staff who think that general audience wants to hear Zimmer's score loud and booming. :woot:

Was anyone's theater completely silent when the movie ended? Like an almost awkward silence?

Australian audience are always silent after a film ends so I wouldn't be able to tell you the mood.

To be honest it's not the type of film you feel like clapping to after it's over.

Didn't help that there was absolutely no music at the start of the credits. Maybe it was an artistic choice to leave you with nothing but silence? Perhaps they just wanted you to think and process the movie, and so didn't throw in any score for the first couple minutes of credits.

Yeah, I think most people I've seen around here have given it no lower than a 7, and then of course you have people who absolutely love it. I'm sure there's a few who'll hate it, but for the most part, it seems to be doing fine.

You haven't seen it?

About silence -

There was total silence (no music) when Dr. Mann attempts unsuccessful docking sequence and crashes onto Endeavor.

I experienced total silence after the movie ended only in case of Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Did anyone else feel like this was like an amazing, huge-budgeted, [BLACKOUT]twilight zone episode[/BLACKOUT]? lol.
Especially when Cooper was [BLACKOUT]in the other dimension. I was just thinking "He's in the Twilight Zone!" [/BLACKOUT]
:p

That was a great scene. And quite a scare too, when what was going to happen did happen.

Definitely. It's funny because as it ended I was thinking to myself "I don't think anyone is going to clap or say anything" and lo and behold nothing. Something like that is very unexpected for American audiences at a midnight screening who love to give a film a good clap at the end. Like you said though it would feel out of place for a movie like this.

The whole ordeal is too overwhelming for that. No other movie has captured space travel quite like this (using concepts of quantum physics and other astrophysics so heavily). At times I found the movie harrowing because I have a tendency of really "living" the movie thus I start to vicariously live through any given characters arc.

I really like when a movie does that but I always have to decompress when it does happens.

I really felt like I was on a journey with Cooper. As he kept going deeper, I felt like I was too. I felt like I was the one seeing things that have never been seen. And that I was too far in to ever find a way back. The shaking theater really helped sell it. lol

People in the UK are miserable. There is no clapping after any films really. I've only ever had it after Avatar and Fantastic Four 2. Yep. Those of all the films were the ones that got ANY attention. And even at the Avatar one the friend I went with said "Why would anyone clap after a film?". Even a full Inception opening night screening there were probably 1 or 2 murmurs after the ending even though personally I was like "Holy cow!"

Mine was pretty silent too. And there was a couple who left early (walked out?).

Oh totally, that was great. As much as the score could be a little overpowering at times, I thought that Nolan used the scientific reality of silence in space very effectively to build tension at key points.

I'm pretty certain the whole cheering and clapping is an American thing. I personally don't see the point in clapping after a film, lol.

They clap here after a film too,one of the wierdest things Ive seen.

The cheering during the film has me perplexed. I can't imagine anything more annoying than people cheering as the film is running.

I loved how Nolan dropped out any 'action' sounds while being outside of the spaceships... was intense when we'd cut to being in a spacesuit or into the ship and kept it very real.

Especially during Mann's swan song...

When that happened I was sitting at the edge of my seat, I thought Holy sh1#t ! :oldrazz:
