Into the Spider-Lounge

Exactly. I’ve been explaining this to gamer friends who are a bit younger. It affected me a lot as I was into a lot of sports games. They have even admitted keeping those games **** with barely any changes year to year knowing they had a monopoly and that people want to play with updated rosters.

Companies like EA actually coined the term "whale" to talk about gamers who spend a lot on microtransactions. I think it was Ubisoft who said they were looking at games as less of a complete product, and more of a live service they could milk year round. They don't even try to hide the greed over quality anymore.

It gets worse. Jim Carrey is playing Doctor Robotnik/Doctor Eggman (English vs Japanese pronunciation).

I liked Jim Carry growing up. He's been in a few good movies since then. So I'm not hating on him. But Jim Carrey playing a rotund video game villain. You KNOW he's going to ham it up to a huge degree. That CGI Sonic, with a potential Razzy winning performance from a fat suit wearing Jim Carrey. It's not a question of whether it will be bad, but how bad, and whether CGI Sonic will give children literal nightmares.

I'm counting on it!

If they made games to the best of their ability every time then I wouldn’t mind them going for that additional income as well, but they are not bothering with quality to focus on that income. And even before microtransactions they admitted making their games with minimal improvements on purpose (especially when there was little competition with licenses) as they knew people wanted to play with updated team rosters, and they could also shut down servers so old games couldn’t be played online any more. The idea is to force/push people to upgrade even when the game has barely changed. Compare them to a company like CD Projekt Red who genuinely make games as good as possible and with gamer-friendly practices (like wanting to create great additional content like story DLCs and make it free). There’s no comparison.

Casinos have been using the term "whale" to describe high spenders for decades.

Just saw this on twitter. I think it describes sports games in general but I decided to post it here after the EA talk a few pages ago.

So, new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Nightmare fuel, or another future notch on the mediocre video game movie cash grab belt?

Those muscular legs, and what looks to be realistic hedgehog eyes. I'll put a real hedgehog below, look at the posters slight glance at the shape, and shiny black eyes, then look at the real hedgehog eye.

These eyes work on a cute real Hedgehog, not a muscular CGI Sonic.

You are either (1) making a bad attempt at a joke (2) dumber than a bag of rocks (3) a troll.

I select that you are a dumber than a bag of rocks troll who can't make a joke.

yo. i rarely get all thangintatical.. but win i read people in xman and deadpolo thread it makes me wonder wha gundamental reason human spices exist

Possibly my greatest work.

Ruthy got banned near the end of the year. I can include her in the list of people banned this year in the Hype Awards post listing names, or do like I did with that so called JapaneseMan and just skip her name.

So, when someone gets banned, the system doesn't put a "Banned User" title underneath their name anymore? That's a shame.

Nah, you need to click on their names to get 'This Profile Doesn't Exist'

It was you that infected the system! @Doctor Jones

I think that poster is just concept art. I don't think Chris Pratt is even in the movie, but this poster was a mockup from when they hoped he would be. The final design may yet still be monstrous.

How I imagine Ruth looking at the lounge after getting banned.

I have $40 to spend on Amazon and no idea what to get with it. I was thinking of some Blu-rays or a PS4 game but nothing really stands out at the moment.

They didn't coin the phrase, simply co-opted it. The phrase at least existed in casinos and gambling well before that.

And I missed this. :hehe:

Ruth dropped by to randomly slur people with dwarfism... for some reason. And then she found oblivion.
