Iron Fist Iron Fist FULL SEASON ONE Discussion Thread (NO SPOILER TAGS NECESSARY!)

The guy was a total *****e bag, I don't see how he redeemed himself in the end.

Ward was a complete *****e, agreed. But after watching the whole show, I could understand why he was the way he was. Basically since the day he was born, he didn't have any free will. Every thing that he ever did in life, was decided by his father. And it appears that Harold was already a very shady person, even before he was resurrected. Apparently already having hired guns who did some dirty work for him. It just became the norm for Ward.

It explains why Ward was such a jackass to Danny when they were children. Danny had his loving parents, while Ward basically had a psychopath as a father. Ward's one saving grace is that he cares deeply for his sister. So I could buy his turn. Since he just wants Joy to be safe, and get rid of his father. So he sides with Danny.

I think my biggest problem with this show is the constant addition of new characters that seemed to have no decent story arcs or purpose.

Why bring in Colleens sensei as a villain when you already have Madam Gao and Meecham? Felt unnecessary.

And Davos is another character that should have been introduced a little earlier too. At least have him in flash backs or something so I can get emotionally invested in him.

Davos was a bright spot. Liked the actor and the material was fine. But yes he should have been a bigger factor earlier.

If I had to rank the Netflix shows it would be...

DD season 1- 10/10
Jessica Jones - 8/10
DD season 2 - 9/10
Luke Cage - 8/10
Iron Fist - 7.5/10

Having Danny in costume would've amplified the series considerably, FOR ME, at least. It at least would've given the show a sense of style which it sorelt lacked.

It also would have made it easy for a stunt double to show off some great Kung Fu.

so you mean to tell me that Danny Rand mom was still alive and the monks didnt help her because the entrance was closed? I swear its insane how funny this show is. And how many times is Danny Rand gonna yell with his spoiled brat voice, "I'm the Iron Fist!!! And Joy gets shot in the stomach and it feels like she got out of the hospital like a day later. And this series almost ruined Claire, hey im going to China as well, let me blow up this roasted nuts cart.

Davos seriously has the best line in the show- "You're the worst Iron Fist ever!!"
Truer words were never spoken.

Iron Fist season 1- 1/10

We don't know if she was alive. It's more than likely she wasn't.

I hear several people saying the Ward character was the worst, and I found him to be the best character on the show. The actor was incredible, it felt like I was watching a crazy young John Malkovich at work. He played each beat of his character with a perfect blend of psycho and sinister, had a lot of real moments in the series, and when he was off for those couple of episodes, I missed the character.

For what the show did... I think Ward was developed and handled maybe the best of all the characters.

My god this show was bad and horribly squandered and great opportunity for a great character. The only time it was mildly interesting was when Davos was involved.

So far, this is the second best Netflix series behind Daredevil.

FAR far better than Jessica Jones and substantially ahead of Luke Cage.

I... NO. I can't see that at all. JJ was not the action fest DD was but JJ in the comics is not an action fest. JJ was for me as good an adaptation of the tone and style of her comic as could be imagined.

Cage had a lot of the trappings of what I would want a LC show to be. It was a modern gloss on the Blaxploitation era that spawned Luke. Almost all the actors worked, Colter was great as Luke (moreso the modern version than the more stereotyped original run) and I liked the action... But it's a slog to get through, and it really unravels due to the strange choice of changing up villains. I liked the flashbacks to his origin and many other aspects but LC was the first disappointing Netflix show for me.

Iron Fist though is a mess all throughout. Much more unfocused than either and in no way captures what the an IF show in spirit should be in the way that DD, JJ and LC did for their characters.

I completely disagree. Jessica Jones was unique, touched on topics that were relevant and hard-hitting and had fantastic character acting.

Most of the action in IF wasn't even any better than JJ (and that was JJ's greatest weakness).

I know everyone entitled to there own opinion but in no way is Iron Fist better than Jessica Jones show wise you may like the character a lot more in the comics but as far as tv shows it's not even close

My thinking is that a lot of the Marvel Netflix shows have a period, usually around Episodes 8-11 or so, where the show is just kind of spinning wheels and playing for time while it sets up for the big finale. Iron Fist is like 13 episodes of that, like they forgot all about starting strong and sucking the audience in with the first few episodes, and instead jumped right to the boring padded filler, and just stayed there the whole time.

Heck this show wasn't even as good as Agent Carter imo, let alone the rest of the Netflix stuff.

All is good everybody. They just admitted they had a rushed production.

that vow of chasity crashed at the first test, didn't it?

Really didn't' see any of that mental discipline he was supposed to obtain over 10-15 years.

It's too bad they couldn't admit to themselves that they might have been better off just dropping the Iron Fist solo show. Sure, fans might have been disappointed and *****ed and moaned about it, but it might have been better than wasting 13 hours of everyone's lives. It really didn't add anything new or interesting to the conflict with the Hand. If anything, I was left confused why Madame Gao was suddenly leading a faction of the Hand, when in Daredevil Season 1 it seemed like she was part of a completely different crime organization. Well, maybe I shouldn't say they didn't add anything new. But did we really need that whole infighting in the Hand plotline?

Iron Fist should have been introduced in Defenders, and basically been the show's Punisher. Then, if well received, they could have continued his story in his own solo. It would have given them more time to actually come up with a direction for the show, and we could have had a season that doesn't focus on the Hand.
