I wouldn't mind a younger actor in this role to mix it up with the thirty-somethings. Maybe cast a young to mid twenty-something as Danny.

Yeah that's pretty much the perfect age.

Plus it's going to be a very energy intensive role and you kind of need someone who can do it for years

20s is fine what matters is acting skill not age.

Well, if you think about it, depending on the story you read (and what RetCon we're on, naturally), Danny should be between 18 and 22. 8 to 12 when he went to K'un L'un (depending, again, on the telling), with ten years between the city's 'appearances' being the typical time frame.

Given play for creative license (and the fact that it doesn't really matter), I'd expect to see a mid-twenties Danny. I hope they show him 'freshly returned'. Let the actor show the wonder of being back in the city.

If I recall correctly from the comics, isn't Danny 19 when he first returns to our world from K'un-Lun? If so, I'd say a 20-something Danny would be perfect.

My first choice would still be Phillip Winchester.
Mine too. I was also recently impressed by James Norton who's all over the place on BBC shows these days, but is really freakin' fantastic on Happy Valley. He kinda reminds me of a younger Winchester, so I automatically thought of him for the role as well.

well looking at how marvel has cast most guys i would expect someone between 26-33 yrs old so they can lock them in for what likely be 8 to 10 yrs in the role over films/shows and so by the time they hit 40s they wouldnt look to old and so forth.

After watching these two videos I am leaning more towards Garrett Hedlund. The way he is so kind and respectful...that's my Danny Rand!

Also the fact that he was in the running to be Captain America but he removed himself from the race because of his commitments to Tron makes me think he has a good chance at getting the role of Iron Fist.

I've been watching "The Family Law" lately and there's a really great up and coming actor who would make an amazing Danny. His name is George zhao and he's charming, the right age, interesting and does well with humour which is important for marvel properties. I would love to see him get a go.

Unfortunately, Winchester has a new gig in another TV series. Another Chicago Fire spinoff called Chicago Legal. So looks like no go on Philip Winchester :( .

If that doesn't work out then potential casting for Steel Serpent

Idk, I would prefer steel serpent be slightly older than Danny to give him an extra air of perceived superiority

Yeah. If not the same age as Danny than older would work imo

i would say minimum should be at least 5-8 yrs older. Unless they want to make him more of master vs student type trope and he is like 20-30 yrs older then danny who be around 20s.

The Spent should definitely be only 5 to 8 years older, definitely be in the same age range overall.

Another Chicago show?! That just makes it even worse. :csad:

Daniel Wu from Into The Badlands as Steel Serpent vs Garrett Hedlund as Danny Rand.

I've got to be honest, I hate the idea of watching a white aryan man beat up Asians again but that's a topic for a different thread

How did you feel watching Daredevil fight Nobu? It's not like he was just slaughtering him he was the one being slaughtered lol

Watch asian films then. They have plenty of asians beating up white aryan men.

Yes. It is. Give it a rest. :/

If you want something where the Asian community is predominantly the big hero, might I recommend, literally, almost any anime? Or most video games. Or even look to shows and programs from other cultures, where the story is told from the perspective of a native learning another culture in a protagonist standpoint. The "mighty whitey" trope is BS, in that EVERY ETHNICITY is the winner in foreign lands, based on the story's origination.

And for the record, Danny doesn't win because he's white. He wins because of his heart, because of this determination, because of his soul, and most of all, and keep this one in mind, the writers. :whatever:

I dont see anything wrong with a white dude who happens to be a mystical kung fu master, and its not like they can't cast other races as cannon fodder and not just asians.
