I think the reason they downplay the costumes and such is because they are trying to draw in a more adult audience who might find those elements silly.

Educated assumption. Every image so far has adult Danny with facial hair in New York and he still had it while shooting the finale.

Mike Colter and Finn Jones 'met' for the first time in the Facebook live stream. It is safe to assume they will come together in the Defenders.

I honestly have no idea how he is going to look. I expect something like that for the flashbacks to his training, and he will clearly find himself in fights in his "street clothes". But in terms of a suit, well I hope we see something early on. Especially as Daredevil pretty much had the Immortal Iron Fist suit.
