The only thing I would sympathize with Finn Jones about the reviews is that we are only getting the first six. And I think the reviews are fair including mine in noting the show does get better toward the middle, and episodes 5-6 are the better episodes. And there are 7 episodes left.

Now there are elements I am not sure if the rest of the season will rectify, but based off episode 6, I'm more than willing to give the show a chance.

Ah, but is he as Jewish as Tony Stark though? :woot:

Yep, I was rooting for Christian Howard (Ken from 'Street Fighter: Assassins Fist') to get the role.

Honestly, I would've loved if Howard got the role after Assassin's Fist. Why the heck not? His co-star, Mike Moh (Ryu), got Triton in Inhumans. Good for Mike Moh. He's come a long way from Kamen Rider.

Inhumans failing or Iron Fist failing will not hurt Marvel Studios in the film division. Marvel TV would, but ultimately they already have so much product in development, they can recover. Plus, I feel everyone is writing off Inhumans WAY too early. We have exactly 0 footage
The tv shows will never hurt the MCU. Most people only watch the movies and they never reference the shows. I doubt we will see anyone from AoS, Inhumans, Cloak/Dagger, or Netflix appear in the movies. Probably less than 1% just watch the shows and never watch the movies.

Has anyone seen The Fall? Specifically, season three. That show spends an inordinate amount of time with a slow paced surgery scene. It's very realistic, but it's hard to imagine how it contributes to the plot beyond atmosphere. I know Season Three was a step down from an otherwise fascinating show, but I still ended up enjoying it. When you watch the entire season (thankfully six episodes) in one sitting, things like that bother me less.

One episode of Line Of Duty featured Daniel Mays character spouting police regulations and laws in a police interview. It sounds boring as hell but it was really gripping because there was a cat and mouse game going on between internal affairs interviewers and Mays cop character.

Line of Duty is one of the most realistic cop shows ever made and is incredibly gripping. Execution is everything.

Yeah the TV shows are a drop in the bucket compared to who actually watches the films.

Yeah, it won't dramatically impact the films. A minor dent.

My dude. I finally found someone else who's seen that show! Line of Duty is hands down one of the most incredible pieces of tv I've ever watched. Its the only cop show that can literally spend an entire hour in an interrogation scene and I am literally on the edge of my seat. It is so gripping, I wish more people were aware of it.

Anyway, dont mean to derail the thread. :woot:

Someone outside the UK that likes Line of Duty :awesome:

The show is the highest rated BBC 2 drama show in 15 years and frequently voted one of the top BBC shows yet gets little hype outside the UK for some reason.

I'm looking forward to the new season starting this month with Thandie Newton

"Fist of Fury" was made in 1972, "Iron Fist" was created two years later. #staywoke #cantbefaked
Awareness and representation for POC is what I promote. As for the @MarvelIronFist show, as I have said in all interviews...
I worked my ass off, and I hope you enjoy it and form your own opinions. It's a beautiful day try and smile. #facts
I see him getting flack for his tweets but let's hope we do get some enjoyable stuff out of Iron Fist.

Sounds like Lewis Tan is trying to get some brownie points with a certain crowd and group.

ugh, this lewis tan guy couldn't give less of a **** about 'representation.' He just wanted to be Danny Rand and is pissed that an actual actor beat him out for the part.

also, I don't wanna come off as ignorant and I apologize if this observation has come up before in here, but isn't it more offensive to assume that Danny Rand should be Asian just because of where and what he trained in?

Yep. The entire cast were made up of stunt actors. I would rather have had an unknown who got his start as a stuntman in place of Finn Jones. Why? because somebody with a black belt and stunt experience would be more visually interesting in an action series.

I dunno about that. I don't see why you need an actual martial artist to play the role. That's what stunt actors are for, no?

I'm pretty sure Ben Affleck can't do a spin kick or jump very high, but it seemed convincing enough that it was him doing in the (only good) Batman v Superman scene where we had a live action Arkham videogame combat.

Just FYI, for Daredevil, it was the first five. For Jessica Jones, Daredevil S2 and Luke Cage it was the first seven episodes. Then for Iron Fist it was the first six.

So just in general, they don't want reviewers to sample the whole season for this type of format. And that's probably because they want to control the flow of spoilers and major reveals. Plus how the season ends.

What was it for Daredevil S2? The cutoff was right before Kingpin's return and his multi-episode arc. Daredevil Season 1 was cut off before Daredevil reuniting with Stick and his first fight with Nobu and Kingpin. Nobu's reveal was basically seeding the Hand into the show.

Luke Cage was cutoff right before Diamondback came on as the new main villain after Cottonmouth was skilled.

What do you mean? Nobody's reviewed the entire season? I thought all of these reviews (which I've read none of, but **** are the quotes brutal) were all of the entire first season.

All of the reviews are only of the first half of the season? All of them? So many of the review quotes I've read sounded final, and like it was of the entire season.

Also, who is Lewis Tan??

And on a final note, where can I watch LINE OF DUTY? It sounds like my cup of tea.

I think someone here claims he knows someone who is seen the entire first season.

But as far as I know, Netflix didn't issue all 13 episodes to the reviewing press. Just six.

Look, it's pretty standard practice. For a lot of new shows, if you get screeners, you will probably get the first couple and that's about it. That's usually because that's what available and shooting on the season is still well under way. Turnaround for TV is usually pretty quick. It's not like a movie where they film it a year to two years in advance than put it all together for the rest of the time in post.

No, I don't think it's a problem that Netflix is giving only the first half of the season for reviews. I'm just remembering that I think I heard that with the first two seasons of Daredevil.

I'm just a little surprised that fact seemed buried with all the quotes I'm reading. I'm reading headlines in quotes from reviews that says it's already a failure and that it's a flaccid fist, etc.

I mean, sure, if the first half of the season sucks...then chances are the final half will too. But, if there's any lesson to be learned from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and God knows someone should learn something from that film, is that I've never ever seen a film's final act NEARLY save an entire film's first two acts of dumpster fire the way that film almost did. The final act of that film was amazing, and it almost saved the film. Almost.

I'm just whining now, I realize that. We live in an internet culture, where it's all zero sum. I'm just surprised that I didn't realize all these reviews still had another 6 episodes to go. I feel like that's gotten buried in all the negative word of mouth I've heard so far.

He's the big bad for Season 1 who Scott Buck thought it would be a good idea to give no screen time to for the first half of the season. And now he's salty that the series got poor reviews since it means that a whole lot of people won't even bother to check out his performance now. He originally auditioned for Danny but didn't get the role and he's understandably upset that he'll now be the least memorable MCU villain of all time so most viewers will have never even seen him.

I really hope I am vindicated in the end here, lol!

Amazing how Marvel are trying to keep things under wraps despite needing to build hype now more than ever. The current Metacritic score is only slightly higher than the Fantastic Four reboot.

Considering that Daredevil Season 2 got a trailer the Tuesday before the premiere and Luke cage got a final trailer the Monday before the premiere, will we see one coming this week?

Oh....okay. Damn, I think I'd be pissed too. Especially if it could be, or could have been?, a breakout role for him to jump off into other work or a possible second season.

You know, I was just thinking right now of Agents of Shield, because of how the current season was split. The first half, the Ghost Rider arc, was amazing. I thought it was just amazing. And now, we're in the second half with the LMD arc...and it feels like I'm dragging myself to watch it. The big bad for the second half wasn't revealed until only a few episodes ago, The Superior.

Just had that kicking around my head. If I had reviewed the first half of this season of AOS, it was have been nothing but love and gushing with five stars. Now that we're into the second half....ehhh, wouldn't be as high.

I can understand if they're gun shy now, and just wait to see if viewers word of mouth change the tide.

I mean, Suicide Squad was a critical nightmare. That thing had reviews so bad, it ****ing hurt to read. And yet it was a financial success, and won a ****ing Oscar.

I'm sure they might also just keep to whatever schedule they apparently had, too. But, I'd understand if they were gun shy. Unless they're very, very, very confident that second half of the season is one of the greatest second half of anything. Like, Patriots Superbowl comeback good.

I agree. Zhou Cheng is one of the coolest and unique Marvel villains with an awesome gimmick and Lewis Tan has every reason to be salty about the lack of screen time until the second half. It really feels like he got the short end of the stick. IMO, he should have been brought in sooner.

I also agree with you on Agents of SHIELD. LMD arc was a letdown until the last two episodes. It felt like Season 1 all over again where I literally had to force myself to watch it.

And yeah, critics were wrong about Suicide Squad. It got great word of mouth despite critics hating it and wound up winning an Oscar. Critics are ultimately a small sample of the general public. Into the Badlands also got savaged by critics but got amazing viewership ratings. Then again, Batman v Superman was actually that bad...
