I'm pretty sure that Captain Britain is at Fox and Black Knight is too tied to the Avengers for me to want him on TV.

I doubt it. I mean, it's not clear cut but he was well-established before his ties to the X-Men and has had many stories after his connection to the X-Men. Even during his ties to the X-Men, aside from his sister, it was something different. I'm not convinced that Excalibur is an X-book until after Alan Davis left and I think Scott Lobdell wrote about Brian for a little while anyway (there's a stronger argument for Fox owning Pete Wisdom than Brian Braddock).

When is the last time Dane was on the Avengers? I associate him more with the MI-13 and his solo stuff these days.

Are we certain Captain Britain is at Fox? Is it because of the Psylocke collection?

Probably because of Excalibur. It is worth pointing out that Psylocke hasn't been referred to as Betsy Braddock. Certainly, a Captain Britain show couldn't call his sister Psylocke. It's also plausible Marvel doesn't have the rights to her at all. But I can't see Brian being owned by Fox.

Metacritic allegedly tries to be more discerning, limiting themselves to the highest quality reviews. Hence them always having far fewer reviews than RT. Whether they actually succeed? I am very dubious.

You would expect Empire Magazine, Screen Rant and IGN would be included, though.

They need to stop having Finn Jones do PR. His power seems to be shoving his foot in his mouth.

I highly doubt they're asking him to do that.

ETA: Sorry about the double post.

Captain Britain was around in Marvel long before any X-Men and Excalibur association. I would've associated him more closely with Black Knight or even Spider-Man before all of that.

Except for the time Wolverine does go to Japan and essentially saves the day on multiple occasions.

Yeah...but many times he screws things up as much as he's helped. He's saved Mariko...and then later his influence in her life directly leads to her poisoning and death.

And while he does save people, it's rarely shown to be because he has a better mastery or handle on Japanese culture than the Japanese he is facing. Heck, a major turning point in the 4 issue mini written by Claremont and Miller that established the Japanese influence as a major aspect of his character is Wolverine admitting to himself that he may never achieve the inner peace he seeks. He may never be able to live by the code he attempts to emulate, but that he won't stop trying.

He's never shown to master their culture. Quite the opposite.

Also, cool that you've seen the show. I'm glad it didn't bother you as much as it's seemed to bother other critics. I'm still giving the show a shot

Imagine if Luke Cage had all white villains in its series.

Weren't some people *****ing that all the white characters on the show were bad? I remember reading it somewhere. Rafael Scarfe, Albert Rackham, and Noah Burnstein. I doubt too many people cared but I saw a couple people on twitter mentioning that.

good lord finn lol

I had wondered if the tumblr crowd was going to make the Meachum family into some sort of Trump analogy (Harold - Donald, Joy - Ivanka, Ward - Don Jr), but I guess Finn just took it one step further. Probably not exactly the best thing to say in our current political climate either lol

Except the Meachums aren't the good guys...

That's why I said the tumblr crowd would make that analogy (since they're not exactly the biggest supporters of Trump). But Finn just took it one step further and made a comparison directly to Danny Rand himself. Which is kinda dumb, since him being wealthy isn't really as big of a factor as it is with someone like Batman.

We may be in a "hating billionaires" era...but I have only seen the trailer and I already hate THIS billionaire.

He was in a plane crash that killed everyone but him...he then lived in a strange land, unknown to anyone who had ever met him previously...for over a decade...then he finally returns, walks up to a clerk and is like "Hey...Danny Rand...can I go upstairs?" His assumption that no one would wonder how he is alive or how it could possibly not be an imposter shows him to be an INCREDIBLY STUPID person. Then...when security tried to escort him out...as they SHOULD do...and is their JOBS...he then physically assaults them.

I'm aware that there is no context around the scene in the trailer yet...but just judging from what I've seen, I can't stand this entitled idiot criminal.

I was just thinking with all of the Negative things being said about Iron Fist, I think if Marvel was smart they would release a photo of Danny in costume (even if it is from the Defenders) to get people excited about seeing this show again.

Marvel make it happen!

Surfer

Good call. Let's hope it happens. As others have said, DD will look out of place if everyone else is in street garb...At least IF would balance the scales.

This sucks, I hate this, that is garbage....Stupid, Idiot, anything else...

They'll release a pic of DD in street clothes to balance it. :o

Less than 2 years since Fant4stic and I'm back to knowing how DC fans feel.

That about covers it.

You know...just because this is a superhero message board, we don't have to pretend that every superhero movie and tv show is awesome.

Nothing I've seen about this show looks high quality.

But you have not SEEN the show. Therefore, you have no informed opinion

Not all superhero shows or movies are good, I agree. But I do watch them so I can form that opinion first hand

And...as I mentioned in my post...I was saying that I was judging the TRAILER...and openly admitted in my post that the scene lacked surrounding context.

So...now we can't judge trailers at all??

No...we CAN judge them...but only if we LIKE them. Typical forum nonsense...love everything, call everyone who has ANY criticisms a troll. Then...maybe months later, when the newness wears off, everyone can quietly just agree that the "trolls" were right all along.

I don't enjoy that silly game. The trailers are trash...and the reviews are trash...and if the show debuts and I love it...then I'll come here and talk about how much I love it...but if it is also trash in my eyes, I'll ALSO be willing to say that.

I am not sayin you cannot judge a trailer. My point is every is talking in past tense as if the show sucks, and no one has watched it, therefore no one has an informed opinion. I am not a fanboys only poster. The fact you hurl that my way shows you have never seen me post much. Debate goes both ways. But, you cannot have honest debate when there is not a product to judge yet

As for the trailer, I am not gathering anything from it honestly. Trailer was no worse than Luke Cage's for example.

Everyone forms opinions from advance stuff...its natural. Like...when I heard about the plot of Thor, I thought it sounded like a mess...and as much as I love the director's previous work, I was worried that Ragnorok would be a comedy...then the pictures came out and I've COMPLETELY changed my mind...and I'm loving the idea that it's a Flash Gordon inspired buddy space trip...and my opinion could change again with a trailer...and then change again when I actually see the movie. Our initial opinions of advance stuff doesn't have to "stick." There's no shame in adjusting your thoughts with new info. SO FAR...I'm really disappointed in what I'm seeing from Iron Fist.

I loved the first "real" trailer for the show. The one with he voice over. It was rather great imo. The new, I liked, but I also hated the music. :funny:

I have enjoyed every Marvel Netflix show so far. At their worst, they have given me great pleasure. Thus they have a lot of equity with me. I also love Iron Fist, especially the Immortal Iron Fist run. I pay for Netflix every month. I have little to no reason to not check this out, even with the reviews. If I am bored or busy, it will probably take me a while to watch.

Do the reviews concern me? Yep. Does realizing Buck is in charge really concern me? Yep. But I am still going to watch it.

I am too, looks like they may have fumbled the ball at the goal line before the Defenders....But we'll have to see the complete picture. This likely won't touch the previous entries, but it may turn out OK in the end.

And is anyone getting the felling that the second half of Season 1 is going to feel disjointed since Zhou Cheng and Steel Serpent are going to wind up both competing for screen time and both wind up being unmemorable and underdeveloped?

I highly doubt Cheng is a major villain. Lewis Tan's (the actor) tacky, unprofessional behavior on twitter makes me think he's in 2/3 episodes max. And we know what happens to the character in the comics.
