Goes without saying that I would LOVE that.

I second that!
Would it be too much to have someone who actually knows and likes the characters to develop this?
At the very least not ignore what's great about them!

I want BBC America to co-produce a Captain Britain series and maybe that could have Black Knight in it.

I think maybe they should wait until the current shows all get off the ground, though, just to be on the safe side.

I'm pretty sure that Captain Britain is at Fox and Black Knight is too tied to the Avengers for me to want him on TV.

Are we certain Captain Britain is at Fox? Is it because of the Psylocke collection?

Considering that Atlas and Captain Hero are literally his only white villains.

Eh not really. He fought some white characters during the original Power Man & Iron Fist run. In the 90s Cage series as well. Not to mention live action adaptations never have strictly followed comic book continuity. Shades is black in the comics but not on the show, for example.

Okay, only major white villains. A lot of the antagonists in PMIF were forgettable one-shot villains who I fail to remember since they simply weren't that iconic.

And is anyone getting the felling that the second half of Season 1 is going to feel disjointed since Zhou Cheng and Steel Serpent are going to wind up both competing for screen time and both wind up being unmemorable and underdeveloped?

Cage really doesn't have any iconic villains, regardless of race heh heh. Iron Fist's only iconic villain has been hijacked by the X-Franchise (which is where he became iconic in the 1st place).

Mandarin, Mandarin, Mandarin

Except that was a massive source of controversy in Doctor Strange when it came to the Ancient One. Like I just said, K'un Lun isn't on Earth. They could easily make it a multi-ethnic community. But I doubt it will solve the problem to hire fewer Asian actors.
That's a different issue.
white savior complex = adopt a way of life foreign to your own and not only become a master of it, but somehow pick it up faster than anyone else.
On top of that, the white savior sees where the other have gone wrong and makes that known to them.

Any idea why the Metacritic score has less than half the reviews of Rotten Tomatoes? I don't know if it would make a difference, but the average score for RT is higher by about 18 percentage points as well.

ETA: Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter are not on Rotten Tomatoes, while Filmink, Gizmodo, Empire Magazine, CinemaBlend, The Daily Dot, New York Magazine, The Verge, Nerdist, Den of Geek, ScreenRant, and IGN Movies are not on MetaCritic.

Metacritic allegedly tries to be more discerning, limiting themselves to the highest quality reviews. Hence them always having far fewer reviews than RT. Whether they actually succeed? I am very dubious.

They need to stop having Finn Jones do PR. His power seems to be shoving his foot in his mouth.

Maybe iconic is the wrong word. Memorable is a better term. I'd still argue that Atlas is iconic since he's part of the Thunderbolts.

No. I think it's more important there is no Jewish male superhero in the MCU and it doesn't look like one's coming down the road.

I mean, Iron Fist has Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, a prominent Asian American female from the comics. So I mean, it's not like they aren't doing anything at all...

If they are doing a good job, they are doing a good job.

Truthfully, I think I bring some of my personal views on wanting to see more Latinos. I'm Latino-American, so that's why I'd like to see that. I really liked they went with Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider. I believe there's a pretty good amount of Asian representation in the MU. Agents of Shield is basically a show with two Asian women leads (I think Daisy and May are the most badass characters on that show). Daredevil's had important Asian characters as well. I've heard that the guy who played Shades, on Luke Cage, was Italian even though the character is supposed to be latino.

Kinda sucks that all the Dominican characters I've seen on tv (not just MU)are drug dealers, too. And no name drug dealers who just shot down or passed by during drug deals, in general. But, meh. I guess it is what it is.

I can't say I've noticed any Jewish characters in the MCU. If there are, and they've showed up on tv or movies...then they've hidden it, because I'm drawing a blank if there's any.

He probably needs to stay off of Twitter. That was what got him in trouble before.

I'm assuming whatever he did this time, it happened on social media. Was it?

No, Killian should have been played by an Asian actor.

You mean they should have taken one of the most odious Yellow Peril characters from their rogues gallery, and leaned *into* that rather than out? That sounds like a perfect way to piss off everybody, *and* get no Chinese release.

Forget about Jones, the poor guy, I want to hear from Loeb and Buck.

And that's literally why Marvel need to do Ghost Rider and Moon Knight series. Marvel proved that they can do Ghost Rider on a TV budget, although if he headlines his own series, he needs a shorter season to spend more money on each episode.

Right now Marvel are in a situation where they're running out of white male leads and need to take more risks with leads of different backgrounds.

When it comes to the film side, Black Widow and War Machine are the only characters who I feel have enough source material to sustain multiple films. Venom over at Sony is a white guy but he's not one whom Marvel own the distribution rights to. There's also talk of Silver Sable who's a Jewish woman but again, over at Sony. Even among supporting characters, the next most obvious choices for additions to the Guardians of the Galaxy are Martyr and Moondragon who are both lesbians and Moondragon is butch enough to shave her head with a straight razor.

Then when it comes to characters more suited to TV, we see a similar pattern where Marvel have simply run out of white men.

Moon Knight - Jewish
Ghost Rider - 2 out of 4 are Hispanic, one of which is also female
She-Hulk - female
Blade - Black and an immigrant
Shang-Chi - Asian
Elektra - Asian and female

And with the New Warriors series, it'll likely focus on teen heroes who aren't part of the Runaways since Squirrel Girl is said to be involved so in addition to characters like Night Thrasher and Sillhouette, it's highly likely that America Chavez and Kamala Khan will show up in the cast. Darkhawk and Speedball will presumably be part of the cast so it's not like people can say that Marvel Studios have given up on white guys. Even with New Warriors, I'd rather Justice and Nova move on to Guardians, not because I want New Warriors to be more diverse but because I feel like Nova and Justice fit the Guardians better and because Nova's powers need a film budget.

The sole exception that I can see is Power Pack which would feature an all-white main cast and that's one that I still feel is better off on TV since I'm not sure how well a PG superhero film would fare and on film, the cast would age to fast + Julie won't wind up in a relationship with Karolina Dean if it were a film. Even then, it would be aimed at so much of a younger audience that it would be mostly stand alone. It's the only option for Marvel on TV that doesn't make the MCU more diverse and even then it wouldn't relate to anything until whoever plays Julie ages up enough that the show gets canceled and she gets added to the cast of Runaways. And half the cast is female anyway.

So it looks like when it comes to future properties, Marvel are literally running out of white guys. Like there's Venom, half the Power Pack and a small fraction of the New Warriors cast. Phase 4 is going to look a whole lot different from what came before simply due to necessity.

Forget about Jones, the poor guy, I want to hear from Loeb and Buck.

They'd rather just talk about other projects right now since I doubt that they'd want to be reached for comment about Iron Fist.

Killian resembled the modern interpretation of the Mandarin far more so than he did the original Yellow Peril version.

I wish Killian resembled the 10 alien ring wearing strategist tactician kingpin version of the Mandarin

What's he done now?

Why does this sound like what was said of Trump's campaign? Maybe Finn Jones thinks he's going to be like Trump and keep tweeting as and when he likes and hoping for a similar result.

Which is precisely why I never had a problem with it. I think that they should have used an Asian actor as Killian simply because I dislike whitewashing but Iron Man 3 was by no means bad.

There are no major Jewish or Jewish American characters in the MCU.

Outside of Daredevil's Catholicism, religion isn't addressed a lot in mainstream superhero comics, or the live action properties based on them.
