BvS Is anyone else not excited about Superman and Batman? I feel nothing but dread. - Part 1

If people want to have a place to be negative and be free from the positive ones then fine they can have the thread.

When it comes to the DC Universe and movies, I learned a long time ago to just wait until it hits the theater. Whether it be casting or trailers, it's hard to know what you've got until the treatment unfolds on the big screen.

That's a really good point Webhead38. I think when it comes to Batman v Superman, that the script will be better than Man of Steel, with the addition of Terrio, who I hope has polished the script and gone for deeper characterization than we saw previously. But yeah, trailers and hype can be very misleading when it comes to movies; we'll know whether the movie is a hit or something else come second weekend.

That first main trailer for MOS looked like a superhero movie that could win an Oscar. It was THAT good.

Really? I thought it looked rather generic to be honest.

The teaser didn't do much for me, but the first full trailers gave me a "best superhero movie EVER!" vibe. They were magic.

All the trailers were fantastic really. However that opening teaser really made me think it was going to be serious in the vein of Batman Begins or better quality. I wasn't expecting all the world engine/codex stuff of course which was kinda flat for me.

As a casual Superman fan prior to MOS, it didn't do anything for me. The movie on the other hand got me excited about the character again.

I'm fairly certain that if I had never seen any of the trailers, and just watched MoS, I'd have a much higher opinion of it. Those trailers showed me a Superman movie that was simply breathtaking...and the actual movie was nowhere near it. Based on the trailers, I really thought they had something truly special. I guess that's why I'm a bit hard on MoS...perfect example of "expectation is the mother of disappointment".

I wish Nolan was more involved, as I feel he would've nailed the parts I felt were lacking.

Nolan is very talented. I sometimes like to ponder what could have been had he wanted to do Batman v Superman and Justice League.

This is very true for people that even liked it. Although keeping up on every picture, tidbit of info, plot details... etc gives away a lot and in the end makes it less enjoyable as well. We can't help ourselves HA

That's my big struggle man. It's hard to find the right balance between hyping things up and spoiling it by knowing too much.

I don't think Nolan alone would have made the film much better though. His Batman was something that could be attainable to a more real world setting. Doing that is easier than establishing an actual SUPERHERO like Superman imo. Also whoever directs was held down by the confides of the script by Goyer.

It goes to show the talent behind WB's marketing team.

So true :( Seeing spiderman 2 was fun cause I didn't keep up with production. It felt much more fresh to me and therefore more enjoyable than many more hardcore spiderman fans found it.

I can't watch any of them anymore. They fill me with rage and disappointment simultaneously. :o

^ Me too a little bit and I like MOS. I can't imagine your rage, lol.

Best movie ever.

That's what this made me feel. The superman fan in me will never forget that feeling.

Honestly for me, Shannon didn't quite live up to his acting ability in MOS. Once I saw some of the opening with elements of Zod and the whole metal animated kelor stuff... I was like "well this could be good, but it may not be what I was expecting" Blame Snyder if you want, but everyone else surpassed what I expected. Surprising cause I really enjoy Shannon in most movies. Not saying I hated him, but I was expecting him to be a top 2-3 villain of all time when he got announced. The expectations we build :D

That sort of intolerance is exactly what the issue is in the first place, people crying for a thread lock or harassing those that have issues with either of these movies. There's nothing wrong with presenting a positive or neutral counter-point in here (and vice versa anywhere else, for that matter), but the thing is, there's quite a few people hanging around who have nothing to contribute outside of "Shutup trolls, GTFO of my forum."

Some choice quotes:

Point blank, these sort of posts don't belong here, or anywhere for that matter. Imagine the kind of firestorm that would erupt if these types of responses were strewn about the other threads, which amount to little more than telling others what to think (Can't summa you just enjoy a movie...) or silencing, ridiculing, and discrediting them (gifs, everyone here is a troll, etc.).

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Sure, the positive comments here are just as welcome as anything else; they've made for some stimulating discussion, as I haven't really seen anyone get out of line save for the people who can't seem to come to grips with the fact that there are others out there with a different perspective.

Comments like the aforementioned, however, are every bit as bad as the trolling and harassment that they allude to. I don't know how infractions don't get handed out to these people who believe that devout fans should have a monopoly on the discussions here.

This, so so much.

Since I was mentioned in the 'offending' posts I will answer.
I dislike 'positive' threads and 'negative' threads. The purpose of a message board is for people to discuss a topic...good or bad...if we coral all the positive posts in one thread and all the negative posts in separate threads...then what's the point? People should be able to go into any thread and discuss anything they want...however the flip side of that is there will be people who agree and disagree with said posts.
People who want to break into 'positive'/'negative' threads come across to me as people who can't deal with other people's opinions.

That is why i put the Superman pic in this thread.

You're right, we should be able to. But it just doesn't work that way. It's impossible to say anything negative about MoS without being pounced on and ganged up on. People do not discuss with you, they try to humiliate you...

Just look at the way this poster disrespects me, when I did not say anything trollish...All I said was that I was disappointed with the way Superman was named.

You guys should really throw hafizbat on ignore, it's a beautiful thing. But then you guys keep quoting him and I still see his usual nonsense. He's like a zryson.

So yeah, I actually feel "safer" here in this thread...
