Days of Future Past Is Emma Frost stronger than Charles

To me initially she had the advantage of surprise, when she said "they have a telepath on board" and Charles seemed more surprised. In battle, that's a massive advantage.

But I think, telepathically, Charles is the stronger, and in diamond form Erik was stronger; the element of surprise was gone, which is why she tried to escape in the General's room. Of course, I still think she was inconsistently depicted - from one scene she swats Erik away like a fly, the next they can manhandle her in her diamond form?

He was able to "manhandle her" in diamond form because A.) she wasn't trying to fight, she was trying to escape, so Xavier and Magneto together were able to overpower her and B.) he had metal that he was able to manipulate to restrain her with.

It's not inconsistent. It's a different set of circumstances that allowed Magneto to get the advantage.

Emma is stronger, she is just more stupid than Charles

XD

Plus, when Magneto first squared off against Emma he didn't know how powerful she was and was probably taken by surprise. I'm sure he warned Charles about her strength so they braced themselves when she came running at them.

even if they stopped her...

Emma running to them was just a stupid decision.

€Firstly, it was a Matthew decision.

And at the end, that decision became the decision of the character.

It made her to not seem as intelligent or strategic.

Seemed to me like she was less powerful, but powerful enough to give him fits. That's the impression I got, that he was more powerful, but she was powerful enough to be a threat. Beating someone doesn't mean they are more powerful.

With her telepathic abilities nullified by professor x, and an insanely powerful magneto along with him.. Smart of her to run. Magneto had her and shaw running away earlier when he went ape $h!t with the anchor

I just thought, she Magneto flying away with a hit from one hand. Regardless of the element of surprise, that takes an element of superstrength, quite far beyond human capability. Therefore (unless she only has such strength in that hand only), I cannot imagine someone that strong not able to run through two normal (physical-wise) men under ANY circumstance. Magneto wasn't using his powers at that point.

To me, inconsistent. I would have preferred Magneto 'be ready' this time and actually stop her running with his powers.

From being a powerful mutant in the first half, then shift to a character that ran to her opponents, able to hear CIA agents and cut the glasses but still stay with CIA. This is too strange, unless she's there on purpose which would be revel in part 2.

Could be she used up much of her strength by generating that illusion for the Russian colonel.

I guess she just didn't give more energy and force compare when she threw Magneto out of the yacht.

I never even questioned it--I just assumed Charles was stronger. Emma being able to "block" him is a defense mechanism, especially for herself. Honestly, I kind of thought that all telepaths, even weak ones, would have some defense against another telepath invading their minds.

If Emma was as powerful as Charles, then instead of Shaw having to threaten every single general into giving into his "let's playing chicken with nuclear missiles" plan, he'd just have her control their minds and give the order. Simple.

Emma forced Erik to relive his childhood torture; she created an illusion with the Russian general. Charles doesn't have to do any of that. He can just freeze someone who might attack him or even take over their minds completely.

No question...Charles is the more powerful telepath. Now, in a physical, one-on-one, punch-down fist fight, Emma (in diamond form) would cream him.

Charles is stronger, obviously, and there's one thing that crossed my mind as why Emma could block him so easily - he really didn't want to fight her, afraid of the damage he could cause. He didn't want to push it too much.

I think there must have been at least one episode in Charles' life, when he was younger, in which his powers went out of control and he inadvertently harmed someone. And maybe it was the moment he learned that "with a great power comes a great responsability" and being the conscious and thoughtful person he was, even as a kid, he decided to be extra-careful with it. This also would explain why he was mostly using his power in a harmless, playful way, flirting with the girls and all. This started to change when he had to control Shaw; adding to it, he now has a lot of very painful issues to deal that will maybe mess up his telepathy.

I expect Charles to release a great amount of pain and anger through his power in the next film and to kick Emma' frosty ass even in diamond form. I expect him to be out of control, and then learn to put himself in check again. I believe that not even Erik's helmet would be able to contain Charles if his powers exploded all over the place.

Later he'll have to teach himself to reach his own point between rage and serenity to become the zen-like Charles Xavier that is both a mentor and a leader to the X-Men.
