Is Face/Off really the best action movie ever?

I've seen a lot of respectible reviewers (including Empire magazine) name Face/Off as one of, if not the, best action movie ever. I've never rated it very highly - indeed, it was sanwiched between The Rock and Con Air, both of which I prefer.

Yes it is the best action movie ever. Most original story too, that works and doesn't come off as being cheesy and overly sci-fi (The face swapping thing), plus i believe it was Cages best performance as villan.

Agree with that.

This actually seems like quite a strange topic.

Its a fun, interesting movie with some solid acting and the always enjoyable Woo slo-mo gun fights but to rank it alongside legends like Die Hard and T2 is just odd.

Speed was better than Face Off!! I can't think of the aisan directors name that did that...damn it. He's famous for slo-mo action and the damn doves... . Oh well, somaya will get it. Hard Boiled was his greates ever movie and Face Off was a pale clone of that.
Travolta automatically negates any 'best ever anything'...save from shaking it on the disco floor.

are you talking about the korean movie?.. if so, yeah, its a great film IMO and one of the best action/drama movies i've ever seen

Face/Off doesn't even make the top twenty.

The over-melodramatic music, overacting, and over-stylized cinematography are headache inducing.

I mildly enjoyed it the first time I saw then watched it again recently and it was painful to watch.
