Is it time to end The Simpsons?

Fox should just end the show and Kill the entire Sunday night line-up. Every show is painfully bad.

The Simpsons is not what it used to be. Watch Seasons 2-10 and you'll notice how stale the show has gotten. I felt it was time to end this show back in 2001 when it still had some dignity. It's crazy that the actors want more money for a dead show. I say kill the show and turn the actors loose to do other projects. 23 years is a good run, better than most people have on TV shows. It's time to move on.

The Cleveland show is just...Horrible. Poorly written, poorly acted and just a mess. Lame characters, lame stories, and no direction. It has the potential be funny and relevant if they took the time made some type of commentary on Black culture, like The Boondocks, but instead we get Black Family Guy without the Family Guy style humor. Cleveland Brown is the Whitest Black guy since Clarence Thomas.

Family Guy...The Meltdown continues. The writing is just HORRID and the jokes not funny at all. Another series that has run its course. G.I. Jose? WTF?

American Dad...I can't even get through an episode anymore. Dry, uninspired and just DREADFUL. It just fell apart after Hayley and Jeff got married. I turned off my TV on the first two episodes of the season.

MacFarlane was paid $100 million by Fox and all he creates is crap. Doesn't he know how to develop characters? Doesn't he know how to write a story? Doesn't he know what's funny to other people? Obviously not based on what he produces every week.

Greoning phones it in on the regular.

I feel It's time to rebuild Sunday night around some quality new material. Demand a new show from Matt and Seth as they are exhausted for ideas on these.

Get Mike Judge to create something. King of the Hill was pretty consistent from first to last episode, and very funny in its own subversive way.

Yeah it's the longest running primetime series ever. I'd say that is a better run than most people have lol.

I usually don't say this but... LOL.

King of the Hill dropped off in quality around season 4 or 5 and never recovered. It started off as a grounded show but ended up with ridiculous plots that got sillier and sillier.

Doesn't he know what's funny to other people?
Considering how popular Family Guy is with good ratings, very popular in syndication, merchandising, and whatnot MacFarlane must be onto something. Everyone I work with quotes or brings up the damn show.

Face it, most people are a bunch of god damn troglodytes when it comes to entertainment. It's why Transformers 3 made $1 billion in the box office. Or why Two and a Half Men was the highest rated television sitcom last season. Or why Call of Duty is the best selling video game franchise.

I hate that when people like something different that you think is horrible that they must have bad taste. Maybe they just are entertained by something your not sheesh.

No. If someone thinks Two and Half Men is funny they have bad taste, at least when it comes to comedy. I've got alot of wiggle room on alot of subjects, but not this one. :o

Comedy and entertaining is very subjective, maybe your the one with bad taste.

I'm just surprised the show has lasted this long........

Do the voice actors really think they're going to make anywhere near 4 million working somewhere else?

They should just take the pay cut until season 25 then retire.

Well probably not, but they're already agreeing to take a 30% pay cut with some back end. This show has been a gold mine for FOX its right that they get paid accordingly.

And it was still the best show on the lineup.

Even at it's best, I honestly don't think The Simpsons could compare to Arrested Development. It would come very, very, very close. But not top it. But that is just my opinion.

I don't want to see the Simpsons end this way. I haven't watche din a long time but I would tune in for the final season.

Also , I saw the Simpsons halloween toys at Burger King yesterday. Thought I'd mention in case any of you collect that type of stuff. I got the cat , lol.

When the film came out there Burger King released some toys, each had a member of the family seated and together they formed the coach where they are every episode, unfortunatelly at the time i didn't know there was another toy to complete the collection tat was the tv with Santa's little helper on the top of it

It's not really up to me or any of us either way.

The series is still very profitable and it'll keep going as long as it makes money and the studio and the crew are paid well to keep going.

I have no problem with it.

Some people say the show isn't funny anymore, which is subjective and on a case-by-case basis sure, but personally, let me tell you...

I watched Sunday's new episode on Monday night and there was a moment where I laughed out soo loud. The show isn't perfect and it never was--some jokes hit some don't, but every episode I've seen (and I've seen every one--even from the last 3 seasons), there's always ONE joke that gets me laughing uncontrollably and I think that's plenty enough to keep the show going for me.

the Simpsons has been hit or miss for the past 10 or so years. there are some good, funny episodes every now and then, but for the most part you get some crappy episodes that just make you shake you head in disgust.

one thing i can never get past though despite how long it has been going, is that i still associate the Simpsons as a 90s show. so for me it's kind of weird seeing them all use cell phones, ipads, twitter, mention social trends, etc.

I like Arrested Development and American Dad better.

I can't comment on Arrested Development(since I never watched it),but I'll take KOTH over American Dad.The only other shows in that line-up that I liked more or equally was Futurama and Malcolm in the Middle.

I read that Fox is threatening to cancel the show, not replace the voice actors. This isn't like the Mexican voice actors, you just can't get away with replacing the American voices of Homer, Bart, Marge, and Lisa.

The voice actors should just cave in. They don't have a lot of leverage since Fox will continue to make billions off the Simpsons even without new episodes and the voice actors will easily find new work (especially Hank Azaria and Dan Castellaneta), also their salaries even after the pay cut is still rather generous compared to most television shows.

If they saw some part of even syndication rights, they probably wouldnt have a problem with the pay cut. Cast of Friends would never have to work again just off of their syndication deal, cast of Simpsons deserve the same.

I've grown up with this series but even I gotta say that it's time...

Perhaps wrap up the season leading up to one more movie...so they csn bow out as epic and gracefully as possible.

So you mean, not have another movie? Because I'm all for that.

I would of picked something like that up. This set seems to have come out of nowhere.

I haven't watched the Simpsons in years. I have no idea how funny it is these days.

IMO, they should bow out with a movie...spend the final half of this season wrapping up minor storylines, perhaps saying goodbye to certain characters while building up to an ultimate resolution to the series.

I mean c'mon, this is THE SIMPSONS.

A half-hour (minus commercials, 22 minute) series finale is simply not going to cut it. Hell, not even a full hour (40 minutes w/o commericals) will cut it.

Oh, man, I totally get what you mean. I just was not a fan of the first film at all. It really put the last nail in the coffin for me.
