Why?
Right...
Did you physically ask the person to get you one?
"Excuse me, I'd like to buy a PSP."

Here's the point, she shouldn't have to. I don't know about your Best Buy, but people at the one I go to are constantly asking if I need help with anything. It gets annoying, but they're doing their jobs right.
It just seems silly. She could easily ask and be done with it, instead and standing there waiting for someone to ask and getting annoyed.
Yes, of course, and again the point is, she shouldn't have to ask.

Do you really live in a fantasy world where you go to a store and never have to ask for anything?
*Walks into Best Buy*
"Why hello good customer, are you looking for something specific today?"
"Why yes, actually, I am looking to purchase a PSP."
"Oh well, right this way my good man, would you like a complimentary cup of coffee and free danish?"
"No, not today, I am in a hurry, I am to see a movie."
"Well, by all means take your PSP and be on your way, Come back later, after the film and I will charge you for it."
"Why how generous of you."
"It's our policy, here at Best Buy."
Have you ever worked retail? I don't know how many customers a day I would encounter that would leave the store pissed because " I was waiting for an hour for someone to help me!" And I ask the same question you do, "Did you ask anyone?" The point is, there are people put in specific sections of stores to fix, stock, and provide customer service to people in that section. It's really not hard to go up to a customer and ask, "Do you need help with anything?" Most of the time, you'll get a no, but it's part of your job.
Again, I ask you.. In the real world, when you go to a store, you're telling me you never have to ask for anything?
Yes it's their "job" but like any person whose gone outside of their house knows, most people don't do their jobs well, and if you want something done you have to ask.
The people who stand there like a lemming waiting for someone to come to them and get pissed if no one does are idiots. Most of the times when I go into Best Buy, the employees are busy being pestered by some dumb couple who can't understand why their three pronged plug won't fit in their two pronged outlet.
Ideally, yes, you shouldn't have to ask. But, in the real world you have to and everyone knows that.

And it's the customer's prerogative to take their business elsewhere if they feel they're being ignored, in the real world, the customer is always right.![]()

I, as a customer, don't expect nor want to be bothered by employees. I hate when they come over to ask if I need anything and I constantly have to say no.
And I, when I worked in retail, never went over to ask anyone if they needed help. No one ever complained, I never got any angry customers, and I helped them if they asked me. As the world should be.

I know we're getting off subject, but I totally agree with this response.
When I worked in retail, I would simply greet customers with a "Hello" when they walked in the store and left them alone. The ones that didn't want to be bothered would say "Hello" or nod back and move on, the ones that needed help would "Hello" back and follow with a question. IMO you just acknowledge their presence, and they're more comfortable to ask or help or whatever.

I don't think people at Best Buy get commission.![]()
